At the pace I’m going, I should finish editing my current WIP by this time tomorrow!

The manuscript is looking really good. Posting about editing advice has kept my senses sharp! The book is now at a point where it needs another pair of eyes, so I’ll be sending it over to my editor this weekend. 💌📮

Earlier today I was editing the passage above and that reminded me of an easy editing tip! 🤓✂️

Ambiguos language isn’t always bad, specially when you have an unreliable narrator (as I love to do). But, in all honestly, sentences with “kind of”, “almost”, or “as though” can benefit from a little trimming. THIS ISN’T A HARD RULE, THOUGH. As with all editing, you have to look at what you’re saying, the message of the sentence, and consider if it would benefit from having the ambiguous language.

I’m at the phase of editing where I run my manuscript through a grammar checker and review “hard to read” sentences. This may sound like the WORST thing to do, but let me tell you why this is one of the most rewarding parts of the process for me. ✍️✨
