Happy February

February is a short but busy month. I’ve always loved Valentine’s Day because it also happens to be my half birthday. This year it falls on a Friday. Do you have plans with your honey?

Speaking of honey, I’m obsessed with canning lately since devouring the gorgeous and informative tome Saving the Season, which is all about saving the flavors of the season to enjoy year round. With that in mind, I preserved some local southern california blood oranges and Meyer lemons in the form of marmalade w...

Please welcome Haley Whitehall to the blog today to share some tidbits about herself and her new release, a historical romance titled Midnight Heat. Thanks for stopping by, Haley!

Midnight Heat1. Your latest release,MidnightHeat, is set after the Civil War. What kind of research did you do to get those authentic period touches?

Why I stair walk

Charles Fleming, the author of the book Secret Stairs, has started a mini revolution in Los Angeles. People who have read his remarkable collection of guided walks have fallen in love with the numerous and sometimes quite enchanting public staircases all over our surprisingly hilly metropolis.

I used to go on walks all over the city with a friend. When she had a baby and moved away, and then I had a baby, I thought perhaps my days of exploring the city on foot were behind me. How wrong I was....

What I’m reading – January 2014

I’ve been reading a ton lately as I’ve been recovering from getting my wisdom teeth out. Luckily, it’s been a pretty smooth recovery, but I’m not passing up a chance to rest and catch up on my to-read pile!

once upon a montana christmasI finally got to Once Upon a Montana Christmas by debut author Alanna Lucas. This is a holiday novella set in late nineteenth century Montana. I loved the writing and the love story between the strong, resolute heroine and the secretly sensitive hero. Throw a baby and some Christmas cookies...

Check me out on AReCafe.com

Where have I been for the last few weeks? Argh. Holiday commitments. Being endlessly sick with a cold, then a sinus infection. Clearing my schedule to have my wisdom teeth removed, only to have to reschedule because of being sick. Let me just say, the end of 2013 was a bit of a slog, but I have a bright outlook on 2014, especially now that I’m on antibiotics and the Christmas tree has been taken down! (Still have to get through the wisdom teeth, but one thing at a time.)
