Death At The Spa

My latest Julia Blake mystery has now been published. Look how relaxed Julia looks on the book cover - it doesn't last. It's on sale for 99c for the next few weeks:

In this story, Julia goes on a spa break with her mum. They look forward to relaxing and being pampered. Julia is particularly excited to experience the new chocolate therapy sessions, and her therapist, Erin, assures her it will be a wonderful experience. It is not a wonderful experience as Julia soon discovers a body in the chocolate floatation tank. She is happy to leave the investigation to the police, but her new friend has other ideas.

Brendan was working on a case before he was brutally murdered. Grace investigates and soon discovers that Brendan’s business partner is a suspect.
But someone is watching Grace as she gets deeper into the investigation. Who is this person? And why are they so interested in Brendan O’Leary?

Knitting and Murder

My new Julia Blake story is now available. It's a longer length one and involves Julia getting involved in Cain's knitting classes. I've put all the details below. The book is 99c for the next few weeks. I hope you like it! I do like that shade of blue on the wallpaper.

In this story, Julia’s colleague, Cain, asks for her help. He’s met a young woman called Kayla at his knitting class. He likes Kayla and wants to know if she feels the same way about him. He can’t tell how Kayla feels and asks Julia to come along to the knitting class to meet her. Everything goes well until a member of the knitting class is found murdered the next morning. It’s not long before Julia discovers Kayla is a murder suspect. She can’t tell Cain this. She has no option but to make discreet investigations into the murder case.

I went to Cambridge recently to look at universities with my daughter. The town is beautiful and there are old buildings everywhere. Here are some of the photos I took:

This second story was inspired by my visit to the farmers' market in Leeds. I took a few photos while I was there:

Italian cakes - yum

Briggate in Leeds - built in 1207 and made extra wide to allow traders on to it.

Yorkshire pudding wraps

Cake - banana and toffee

More cake - salted caramel
And I finally managed to get a photo of the cheeky heron who's been visiting our gardens around here! The fence panel is about 5 feet high so you can see how big the heron is.

Cleckheaton Literature Festival 2016

I've been asked to attend the Cleckheaton Literature Festival again this year. It's a great honour for me and I'm excited about the event.

I'll be there on Saturday 23rd April between 10 and 12. I'll be talking about my self-publishing journey and I'll share what worked for me - and what didn't!

Here's a link to the event.

Juli Blake - A Date With Revenge

The next Julia Blake short cozy mystery is now available. This one sees Julia getting involved in the dating scene - but things don't go well for her!

I love the image on this book because it reminds me of a main street in Leeds called The Headrow. It has similar buildings. The tables outside the buildings would be perfect for a date :)

The links are below the front cover. The book is half price for a short while.

I mention a famous UK store in this story - Marks and Spencer's. They have a special place in my heart because the store originates from a market stall in Leeds Kirkgate Market in 1884. Here's an article about the company with some lovely images - Marks and Spencer
An afternoon tea is also mentioned. I have experienced this one at M & S and here is the photo :

And here are some more I've enjoyed!

Yes - those are crystal chandeliers!

A New Julia Blake Short Cozy Mystery

My new Julia Blake story is now available, and it's a short cozy mystery. Even though it's a short story, there's lots going on! In this story, Julia visits her son, Sam, at a university in Edinburgh. Of course, it's not long before she finds a dead body.

Stuntboy Stevie and friends

One of my author friends has written a children's book and I promised to write a post about it. I've read the book and it sends a good message to children about having adventures outside.

My First Audio Book

My first audio book is now live! It's The Death Planner and it's available on Amazon. I'll put links to the US and UK stores. It's worth clicking through and having a listen to the sample. The book is narrated by a lovely chap who gives Pearl a great voice!

Fuelled By Tea

I had a wonderful Christmas with my family. My eldest daughter promised me the perfect present - and she delivered! Here it is :

It's an extra large cup for my tea! The shape keeps my tea warmer for longer and the big handle and ear make it easy to pick up - perfect. For anyone who's not familiar with this particular monkey, he's from a certain brand of tea. I have other items :

Theses two sit in the corner of my desk when I'm writing. I never talk to them - that would be silly.

I also have a monkey calendar to brighten my day.

You always need a good spoon for your tea - these are perfect.

And this image is stuck on my wall in the room where I do my writing. It makes me smile every time I see it. I may have given away the brand of tea :)
