Stop Running

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.”

Whoever you are, you know who you are. I’m writing this for you. I am compelled by the Spirit of God to write this – right now. For someone reading this who has been running, and running, and won’t stop running. But I am here to say, please stop running.

You can run from people. You can run from places. You can run from things....

It Ain’t About Me

“Trust in Him at all times, you people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us.” Psalm 62:8……….

Not too long ago this ad would not have caught my attention, but thanks be to God almighty whose Holy Spirit is changing me day by day from a self-consumed woman who has lived for decades for SELF into a God-centered woman who is learning to deny self and to LIVE FOR CHRIST, from a woman who spent decades trusting in herself and this world and is now learning moment by moment to pla...

The Disguises of Pride

“And whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.” Mt. 23:12………….

“Pride goes before destruction,

And a haughty spirit before a fall.

Better to be of a humble spirit with the lowly,

Than to divide the spoil with the proud.” Proverbs 16:18-21………….

When I was a little girl, blessed to attend a wonderful little school where the creative arts were in abundance, I was exposed regularly to the concept of costumes. Costumes for this play, costumes for that one....

Watch That Selfishness

“Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.” Phil. 2:3-4………………

I was right on the very verge of contacting someone to help me with something I deemed to be quite important to my ministry work, to my plan for the day, to my agenda, to what I believed I needed to do, to my schedule, to my time-table, to my life’s callin...

Faith Lesson from a Snowflake!

“For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven,

And do not return there,

But water the earth,

And make it bring forth and bud,

That it may give seed to the sower

And bread to the eater,

So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth;

It shall not return to Me void,

But it shall accomplish what I please,

And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.” Isaiah 55:10-11……..

Years ago, as I angrily, self-pityingly heaved up massive shovels-full of snow from yet another blizzard s...

Crazy Man in the Post Office

This is a short story I wrote several years ago and have been led to re-publish each holiday season with the hope that the Lord will move mightily in people’s hearts as He did in my own when He gave me the story to write. I hope you might consider passing it along….

CRAZY MAN IN THE POST OFFICE

Crazy people always stand out from the crowd, don’t they? This one did, alright. I couldn’t help but notice him. The post office might have been jam packed with people holding on for dear life to their...

Not in the Mood for Love

“Let all that you do be done with love.” 1 Cor. 16:14…………

It was about five in the morning. I was tired enough to go back to sleep for hours but had chosen to wake up, pray briefly, and spend time with the Lord which I do each morning. There’s no better way to start the day than with the Lord. I took one of the dogs to go to the bathroom as I’d learned she couldn’t wait for as long as the other dogs. Then I came back in, did a super quick email check, and figured I’d sit down on my bed and st...

Can You Figure This Out?

“Let all that you do be done with love.” 1 Cor. 16:14…………

“My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.” 1 John 3:18………….

“Serve the LORD with gladness;…” Psalm 100:2…………..

“…he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness…” Romans 12:8…………

“So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.” 2 Cor. 9:7………….

“Then Jesus, moved with compassion, stretched out His hand and touched him, and said to h...

Is Jesus in Your Glove Compartment?

“Oh, magnify the Lord with me,

And let us exalt His name together.” Psalm 34:3………………….

If you have a car, or have ever been a passenger in a car, or seen a picture of a car’s interior, you’ll notice the so-called glove compartment. It’s the small enclosed area with the little door in front of the passenger seat where people usually stick their “important stuff”. En.oxforddictionaries.com says a glove compartment in a car is “a recess with a hinged door in the dashboard of a motor vehicle,...
