God’s Ears

“In my distress I called upon the Lord,
And cried out to my God;
He heard my voice from His temple,
And my cry came before Him, even to His ears.” Psalm 18:6

The Spirit of God has been taking me over and again, and again, to Psalm 18. Nobody told me to go there, not that I recall. No preacher preached a message on Psalm 18 anytime recently, to the best of my recollection. I don’t remember being drawn to Psalm 18 anytime in the past. I am quite sure the loving merciful graceful tender and stro...

Betrayed By Friends

I was so shocked I almost didn’t know what to say. But the Lord took over. In His amazing mercy, in His awesome grace, He gave me the words. I was on the telephone with a dear friend I had known for years and had just found out she and another beloved friend had betrayed me in an excruciatingly painful way, had been dishonest with me, had lied to me, had withheld something from me, and to make matters that much harder, had apparently prayed together and had been deceived by Satan into believi...

The Sex Museum

“And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ. But he who does wrong will be repaid for what he has done, and there is no partiality.” Col. 3:23-25

“Flee sexual immorality.” 1 Cor. 6:18

I was crouched down on the pavement to bend over my sweet paralyzed dogs Mr. Simeon and Miss Mercy in their wheelchairs at a street corner waiting for the light to turn so we could cr...

She Thinks I’m a Failure

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” Romans 12:1-2

“The fear of man brings a snare,
But whoever trusts in the Lord shall be safe.” Proverbs 29:25

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; A goo...

The Man in His Underwear

“Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil;
Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness;
Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes,
And prudent in their own sight!

Woe to men mighty at drinking wine,
Woe to men valiant for mixing intoxicating drink,
Who justify the wicked for a bribe,
And take away justice from the righteous man!

Therefore, as the fire devours the stubble,
And the flame consumes the chaff,
So their root will be as...

The Prodigal’s Brother

“Then He said: “A certain man had two sons. And the younger of them said to his father, ‘Father, give me the portion of goods that falls to me.’ So he divided to them his livelihood. And not many days after, the younger son gathered all together, journeyed to a far country, and there wasted his possessions with prodigal living. But when he had spent all, there arose a severe famine in that land, and he began to be in want.Then he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country, and he se...

Deadly Hatred

“Whoever hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.” 1 John 3:15

“We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brethren. He who does not love his brother abides in death.” John 3:14

“Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived,...

When Love Runs Out

“Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.” Romans 5:5….

“Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”” Mt. 22:37-40….

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy,...

My 3-Word Obituary

“Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, 7 but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men.” Phil. 2:5-7……….

Call it morbid. Call it what you will. But this morning while taking two of my sweet dogs for a walk on the streets of New York City, I thought about my obituary. And what came to me was the farthest thing in the universe from the wor...

When STOPPING Isn’t QUITTING

“Teach me to do Your will,
For You are my God;
Your Spirit is good.
Lead me in the land of uprightness.” Psalm 143:10………

Sometimes stopping isn’t quitting.

In my late teen years, I was told by my beloved Dad who truly meant the best for me though I couldn’t see it at the time that I was a QUITTER. That’s right. He called me a quitter. He said I quit all the big things I started essentially. Whether or not that was true, and truly can only be genuinely judged by the Lord, is besides the point...
