Admitting Our Wrong

“My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord,
Nor detest His correction;
For whom the Lord loves He corrects,
Just as a father the son in whom he delights.” Proverbs 3:11-12

“A fool despises his father’s instruction,
But he who receives correction is prudent.” Proverbs 15:5

“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9

“Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before a fall.” Proverbs 16:18

“Con...

** Correction from Lara / Our Daily Bread

I ask your forgiveness…My devotional called “My Daily Bread” which I published on this website but have since removed was based on my false understanding of the Greek words translated into “our daily bread” and “give us” in the so-called Lord’s prayer. If you go to Biblehub.com as I did and do some research from Strong’s Concordance and the Interlinear Bible, you will in fact find the words “our” and “us” come from a Greek word meaning “I” in English. However, what I missed because I am not a...

When the Rain Came / Your Treasure Life

““Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Mt. 6:19-21

“If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the ear...

Too Late for Heaven

“We then, as workers together with Him also plead with you not to receive the grace of God in vain. For He says: “In an acceptable time I have heard you, And in the day of salvation I have helped you.” Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.” 2 Cor. 6:1-2

I used to have a homeless friend who sat on the corner of my street every day for an hour or so for months until the day she committed her life to the Lord Jesus Christ and walked off to get her suitcase from...

Macho Laborer’s True Love

“For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words, of him the Son of Man will be ashamed when He comes in His own glory, and in His Father’s, and of the holy angels.” Luke 9:26

“Shout joyfully to the Lord, all the earth;
Break forth in song, rejoice, and sing praises.” Psalm 98:4

I was watching three men try to move an indescribably heavy peace of machinery on a street corner to no avail when I decided to stop right by them and begin to silently pray for them. I refused to move until I felt I had su...

God Behind the Scenes

“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28

“You’re dismayed because things haven’t turned out the way you want them to,” the Spirit of God spoke to me one day. “But you can’t see what I’m doing behind the scenes.”

What a powerful, beautiful, albeit sometimes hard to hear reminder that we can only see with our human eyes, and that we might not always be pleased and content with our circumstances,...

Jesus Didn’t Lure & Deceive

““If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple. And whoever does not bear his cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple. For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it— lest, after he has laid the foundation, and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, saying, ‘This man began to build...

Praying for a Crackhead

“The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3:9

“Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:” Acts 10:34

“For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And ho...

God Uses Ex-Prisoner to Open Prison Door

“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.” Mt. 28:19-20

“Hey, I need another booklet,” a woman called out to me in the park one day in New York City.

I walked over to the homeless woman who had called out to me. I wish I had a better memory. I don’t. But either the Lord reminds...
