“Ye shall walk after the Lord your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and ye shall serve him, and cleave unto him.” Deut. 13:4 KJV

Just days into being back in the Hilton Head area, SC, where I lived for years, this time in a little hotel with a wonderful warm and welcoming staff I so love, I realized how easy it would be to stay there and postpone my big upcoming move to the Florida Panhandle where the Lord was calling me next to go and do my ministry work.

All...

How’s Your Attitude

“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” 1 Thess. 5:16-18

One day the Spirit of God spoke to my heart a message I can’t help but believe is for many more people than just myself. I had been wallowing in the muck and yuck of self-pity, being irritable, negative, moaning, complaining, whining, in my heart, impatient with the dogs, mad not glad. Little did I realize until the Lord spoke to me that I was bringing great...

The Holy Heart

“Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance; but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.”” 1 Peter 1:13-16

“Create in me a clean heart, O God,
And renew a steadfast spirit within me.” Psalm 51:10

“Draw near to God and...

The Phenomenal Message

“Good morning, sir, how are you?” the sweet, bright, and friendly breakfast room attendant asked a guest at the hotel one morning.

“Phenomenal!” the man exclaimed.

I was sitting at my laptop computer at a table in the hotel breakfast room working on my writing when I overheard the brief conversation.

To be honest, I felt like crying. Perhaps I might have been joyful to hear such a remark. Phenomenal! But instead I was deeply convicted.

How often I wake in the morning bogged down with worry, h...

The Reason to Relax

“You will keep him in perfect peace,
Whose mind is stayed on You,
Because he trusts in You.” Isaiah 26:3

“This is the first time in a really long time I feel like I can relax,” I thought to myself.

I felt like I could mentally breathe fresh air like I hadn’t been able to do in some time. Like the chaos around me, and the chaos in my mind in response to it, was gone. At least temporarily. Whew. Sigh. Now I could unwind. And enjoy what? A few weeks? A few hours? A few minutes? This moment? Befo...

Your Love, Your Decisions

“If ye love me, keep my commandments.” John 14:15

Do your decisions show God your love for Him? Or do they show your love for self?

It was the middle of the night when I was trying to fall back asleep when the Spirit of God prompted me to climb out of my drowsiness and write this message.

I had sensed He was thanking me for obeying Him in my decision-making. But why? Of course I should obey God. We all should. That goes without saying. Why would God be thankful if in fact He was?

“Your decisi...

Being Still

“Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!” Psalm 46:10

“The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

You prepare a table before...

Where’s Your Focus?

Know how people are prone when driving by a car accident on the highway to stare at the accident and all the chaos of the traffic, fire engines, ambulance, police officers, and damaged cars, and to try to figure out if anyone’s injured and if they might know anyone in the accident? And how the safest thing to do while driving isn’t to stare at all the drama and chaos but instead to focus on the road ahead and to carefully move forward down the highway?

This is just like what some of us tend t...

Are You Ready to Go?

“For You are my rock and my fortress; Therefore, for Your name’s sake, Lead me and guide me.” Psalm 31:3

“So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Romans 10:17

“For we walk by faith, not by sight.” 2 Cor. 5:7

“But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” Hebrews 11:6

Lara’s Latest Update

Hi everyone,

Lord willing I am leaving Wilmington, NC, tomorrow, Sunday, and headed back to the Hilton Head area, SC, for a short stay. Following that, I am headed for the Florida Panhandle for a season where I will be located just outside one of the areas hardest hit by Hurricane Michael. I only passed through the area while driving once years ago and otherwise have no experience in that area and do not know anyone.

I am going by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and trusting God to provide all...
