Lust, Money & Murder – Cailin’s Review
Lust by Mike Wells
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
This is the first part of a novel divided into three parts. The story doesn’t end at the end of the book. I can deal with that as a selling technique, but I’d rather review the whole novel. This first section had one major flaw. A good portion of the middle of the book was taken up with the back story of the heroine. Not all or even most of a character’s back story is needed in the book itself. In the mind of the author yes, but not in the book itself....

Merry Christmas, Santa Free at Barnes & Noble
While I was away for Thanksgiving, B&N posted Merry Christmas, Santa available free. Please download and let me know what you think in a review. I’d love to know what you think. It is a short story, but I can see these characters in their own full length novel.
Derek doesn’t mind the bouncing, but the jingling is getting on his nerves as Jane decorates for Christmas. Life on board a long haul space ship can get frustrating, but when the threesome onboard is still working...

Taking a Writing Break to Write
I’m taking a short break to cogitate on the next chapter of Shane. Spent a couple of days working on a short story. It’s based on the Aesop fable, “The Lion and the Mouse.” Here’s a taste:
“Her mother wanted to kill her at birth. Her father refused. He said he saw a spark of something worth keeping in her eyes. Whatever he had seen, it hadn’t developed into anything Shanthians found useful. Erris often felt it would have been better to have died at birth. There was never a time that she rememb...
The Rogues of Ravensmuir Box Set – Cailin’s Review
The Rogues of Ravensmuir Box Set by Claire Delacroix
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
This series got better as it went along. Book 3 was better than book 2, which was better than book 1.
In Book 1, The Rogue, I absolutely loved Merlyn. Ysabella drove me nuts with her not trusting him. That went on far too long for me.
In Book 2, The Scoundrel, I was driven nuts again by a heroine sticking to a decision even when it didn’t make sense. I wanted to ask her who made her the seventh son.
Book 3, The Warrior, w...

Merry Christmas, Santa Free Download
I’ve just posted the link to Merry Christmas, Santa on the freebies page. This short story, just about 6500 words, is a little out there for me. The kink goes into an area that I would consider uncomfortable, and I know my readers might consider just too much. I recently finished reading Exit to Eden by Anne Rice/Anne Rampling. That book has me thinking even more about the motivation behind sadism and masochism. Merry Christmas, Santa doesn’t delve much into the why of Derek and Siever. I thi...

Getting off the ground
I’m getting excited as I prepare the website for launching and my first short story for uploading to Amazon. As soon as I’ve managed to figure the whole Amazon process out, I’ll be posting links to the Merry Christmas, Santa. Once that’s done, I’ll post download links to the story on my free downloads page, so readers can enjoy it free whether Amazon lists it free or not.
Lots to do…lots to do…
