Paris — my experiences
Our first day in Paris we rushed to Angelina’s for their famous Hot Chocolate. We enjoyed that. My Quiche with caramelized onions was great. The deserts were yummy. I’m posting a big photo so you can see its thick. Really its chocolate soup. You can’t have a lot or it gets heavy in your stomach.
You can see the decor in this shot. And Diego enjoying his chocolate!
The food from there was not grand. Every place served the same desserts dine their way and for the most part none were better than the other. I did try a lot of chocolate places and there was a big difference in those. I found one chocolate place I loved and ate way way too much of their chocolate!
Raw meat, snails, butter, no salt and no ice are standard. The same little salad with some dressing they use is common. No choice of dressing. Every menu is pretty the same. If you order a hamburger it’s not good. Some places have them. If you order an omelet it comes with a pool of butter and no salt. Quiche is good. Croissants are good. I couldn’t find all the cheese that was suppose to be everywhere.
The last day we were there the waitress mixed some guys raw meat (TARTAR) beside me with seasoning and I about got sick at my table. I couldn’t finish my meal. The idea he was about to eat that big lump of raw beef just grossed me out. I know people like Tartar. I am just not that cultured I guess. Snails. Raw Meat. No. And they are both huge there.
They love Christmas in Paris and places still had up lights and trees. This is off Champs Eylsees which is their Time Square. There were little booths and holiday shops closed down and being torn down but it was easy to see it was like a walking outdoor holiday mall. This area is all high end shops too. The problem is the styles in Paris are very different and its expensive. Twice a year they have weeks of sales that are like our Black Friday weekend. The stores are packed and insane and we were there. But its still expensive. High heels were $200! And I mean everywhere and on sale! And 5 inches high. CRAZY high heels!!! There is no Victoria Secret in Paris and the panties there I looked at were $30! On sale! Yes. You read that right.
I didn’t buy anything. Diego bought some Nike stuff you can only get in Europe but for me — nothing.
The tower is like Pike’s Peak out my door here. It gets lost in clouds. It’s crazy how a mountain or a tower get lost in clouds!
This is in the clouds
I took this from the same spot hours later
Lots more Paris to come including pictures of where Chris lives!

****Paris****
I am behind blogging about Paris and will be doing so the next few days. Do I dare admit I didn’t like it? Diego didn’t either. Part of it was the time of year. It was raining and cold every day. I mean raining all day every day. Then it was sale time. They have them twice a year and they are like Black Friday here. The stores are insane only their sales are still expensive. High heels on sale are $200. I’m not joking. And they are at least 5 inches high. However I was with Diego and having some time together was nice. I’ve been working 7 days a week for most of the last year and we needed quality time. So I will never complain about time with the man I love:)
I’ll be blogging the next few days about our experiences in detail. I just need to get over jet lag and catch up on some work. And there is a blog tour going on right now to promote Rebecca’s Lost Journals. If you go to MEET LISA here on my site there is a link to every stop. I have prizes daily and excerpts from the series:)
More soon!

Paris Day 2
**Please forgive typing errors! Very tired as I write this.
Is it day 2 or is it day 3? The time change has us confused. It’s weird being 8 hours different from home!
It was raining and cold today and its suppose to be wetter tomorrow. I do like rain but walking in it is pretty chilly. Still, rain to me creates a cozy environment when inside with coffee and sweets and someone you love:)
Before showing some of today’s discoveries some general thoughts on Paris. I feel like I am in NYC. It’s so like NYC that it’s crazy. Diego thinks so too. The people. The crowds. The streets. The way buildings look. The way grocery stores are tiny and split into different stores because of size. The way things are in levels like seating upstairs and ordering downstairs because of space. Tables are very small. I can go on and on. It feels like NYC.
The food. Love the deserts and bread. I am not a meat eater. A little, but not much. This place is about meat. I am allergic to seafood. This place is about seafood. So….food here isn’t my fav but, they make a darn good pizza! And who needs meat when you have desert anyway? Also the quiche is wonderful. I’ve had it two places and both times it was marvelous.
Ice cream? Check. Yummy!
Today we went to the famous Shakespeare and Company bookstore today which is a cool little place with lots of old books.
We discovered a bar with bras hanging from the ceiling. This was in the Latin Quarter just randomly in the middle of restaurants and shops. We had crepes next door. A man in a kilt (no idea why) didn’t like me taking pictures. He stood in front of me and gave me an angry look. I decided not to take a picture of the kilt. I was tempted!
These deserts — the white one is a cheesecake which was yummy. The cupcake looking thing is a Mont Blanc which has meringue and creamy stuff inside. Then the eclair which is one of our favs.
The chocolate which is like chocolate soup at Angelina’s was wonderful. I want more before I leave!
We went to the mall. It is SO different than in the US. There are no department stores. The brand name holders just share floors and have booths. No stores. And one side of the mall is men and one side is women. No mix. They have what equates to our black friday going on. It is just as crazy with people too.
And finally, the holiday lights are just being taken down and I got some shots of what it’s like here. This is in the are that is like their Time Square:
So that is all for today. More tomorrow!
Oh and I sound silly speaking other languages. I made a hotel employee laugh when I Bon Jour. Yes. He laughed. I must sound REALLY silly!

Paris Day 1 – the lost passport
Day 1 travel to Paris — The lost passport
Yes. You read that right. We were loaded to go to the airport and it was hard saying goodbye to Julie(Kitkat). I love that animal and don’t want her to think we don’t love her. And she has some eye thing going on the vet can’t figure out. But Aunt Kit the pet sitter is staying every night and Julie loves her. So do we. So…we were set. We were headed out. That’s when hell began….
We grabbed our paperwork and realized my brand new shiny passport was missing. It’s not in the folder with Diego’s. I hadn’t slept and either had he. We stayed up to account for the time change. Tired makes everything very very big and this was big anyway. I was in tears and ready to cancel. I ‘panic’ texted Donna Grant, who tried to calm me down. I ‘panic’ texted her more. She tried harder to calm me down. Diego refused to cancel. Donna told me we couldn’t cancel. We had 4 hours until our flight that leaves Denver and we were in Colorado Springs.
So we got into the car and found a Walgreens and got my photo done for a new passport. We then drove insanely fast to Denver to the Passport office. We begged for an emergency passport. They gave it to us/me. Again we drove insanely fast to the airport this time. Diego dropped me at the front door to get the bags checked. A bag runs over my foot and my shoe flies off. I hobbled after the man who is trying to help me, trying to get my shoe back on as he raced me to the gate. We got to the airpot gate 1 minute before luggage cut-off which is strict for international. One bag was over 5 pounds. If I didn’t find a solution it was another $200 bucks. The man who was helping me with baggage opened bags and pretty much fixed it for me. He was a sweetheart worth every dime of the large tip I gave him. Diego was parking the car and the counter lady had to see him before we are officially on our way. She ran with me to the door he comes in to meet him. Ran with me!
The airport crew was just so darn nice. Even the passport people were nice. Had they not been I might have melted down in a big way.
But we made it to the plane. I can’t believe we made it. We made it!
