Sketch Laughing Donkey

This little ink sketch is based on a photo from Pinterest. If you don’t have an opportunity to go out and find a subject, it’s a great source for drawing practice.

Ink Sketch Young Donkey

This is a #inkpenart #sketch of a little #donkey. Sometimes an ink pen is as creative as a paintbrush, sometimes more so.
Pastel The Prime Minister

This is a #limitedpalette #pastel of Sir Winston Churchill. When ever I hear the Prime Minister, his face is the one that comes to mind.
Creating the skin tone with red, yellow, white, and blue was an interesting adventure. I hope you enjoy this view of The Prime Minister paying a call.

iPainting Batman Art Lighting

I’ve drawn Batman, I don’t know how many times, but like with all art, it’s about the lighting. Any subject can be enhanced by lighting. Rembrandt’s paintings are famous for the areas of light standing out in the darkness. Painters will tell you, after blocking in, you put down your darkest dark, and your lightest light.
In a painting, your lightest point will often be surrounded by dark color. It’s easier to see the light when it’s darkest around it. The way light affects things in darkness can turn a picture into a masterpiece.
Our lives are like that. At our darkest point, if we turn to the light, it can transform our lives. The character Batman went into the night, not to be a part of it, but bring safety to it.
It’s one of the reasons I prefer the term the caped crusader to the dark knight. I could ramble on, but I’ll leave you with this. At the end of the day, the crooks go to jail, and the hero returns home, to a house bathed in the morning light.

Watercolor Saxophone

This is a quick watercolor I did on lunch this week. I knew I didn’t have a lot of time to do a full watercolor, so I saw a image of a partial Saxophone player. This is my quick rendition of it.
First, do what’s important, pour into your Faith, your Family, and your Friends. Then, make a little time for play. It may not end up being a masterpiece, but the practice will make the next painting better.
Thought Of God

Psalm 40:17 (ESV) 17 As for me, I am poor and needy, but the Lord takes thought for me. You are my help and my deliverer; do not delay, O my God!
In our darkest hour, God is not distracted or distant. He is present, working on our behalf, to turn our mourning into morning light. The word thought above, in and of itself, should cause us to rejoice, that we are on His mind. However, it means so much more than just a thought.
In the Hebrew, this word also means to weave, to invent, forecast, workman, conceived, plan imagine, devise, value, hold, regard, compute, and reckon to esteem. In other words, God will do what He has since before time was created. What does not exist, for our benefit He will create.
Christ will change the forecast from storm to Peace be still, if it requires it. Or He will plan for us to be safe through the storm. While we can’t imagine all the wonderful future God has in store for us, He has imagined things that we will need. The difference is, what God imagines becomes alive at just the point of time necessary, for our good.
Isaiah prophesied of a king, Cyrus by name, he said, generations before, because God knew His people would need a Cyrus. I heard a story recently about Harry Truman, which made the President shake when he heard it, how that God had put him in place just when Israel needed him.
With God’s help, I am laying down worry and fear. It’s not easy, but how can we hold to those things, when we realize what God has in store for us. That doesn’t mean everything will always be rosey, but it does mean that God is working for our good, because He values us.
I could go on, excited about His desire for us to succeed, but I’ll end with this. The last word I’ll mention is compute. God Who birthed creation out of nothing, who said one can put a thousand to flight, two can put ten thousand to flight. He is doing the math for us, and when He gets done, victory will always be the solution to the problem.

iPainting Elk Mountain

The strong Elk cries out for it’s mate. It doesn’t cry out of weakness, but out of need. Remember, a cry does not mean you have no strength, only the knowledge to recognize you need help. This knowledge can transform your life. We all need each a team!
Invest In Others

Invest in others, not for your own return, but for theirs. Whether you can invest in them financially or not, we all can give a smile. Many times a kind or supportive word is worth more than gold.
My hope is, in some way, to pour into others, the way I’ve been poured into. We are a blessed family, not through our own merit, talent, or power, but through the lives of so many. People who have taken the time to speak into our lives miracles, for God used them make no mistake, have transformed our lives.
Every person has something they can give another. Kindness, attention, your time, even in small increments will multiply in the lives of others. Those who have invested in our family, have changed our world.
What life can you transform through a kind word, or no words at all? The greatest investment is listening to others. You hear their heart, dreams, questions, and hopes for a better future. At just the right moment, when their hope is weak, you can help them with your love and support.
Investment is something you pour in now, expecting an overflow later. When good things overflow, they pour into all they touch. Generations may be blessed by what you did for someone else.
I would encourage you today, that you are valuable. Your worth is far greater than you yourself see. You are loved by so many around you, and your investment in someone’s life, may give them a new outlook on life altogether.
