Great book. Most avid readers, are always looking for a new author to follow. Well here he is. Why his books are not featured in the windows of B&N is beyond me. Good main character, someone you can relate to, believe in and want to follow where he goes. I am particularly enamored with the dry wit and sarcasm the character shows. Always a winner. The plot covers murders present and past, as well as story lines carefully crafted both past and present, with just enough 'real' history thrown in to make you go hmm. Very interesting story development riding these parallel story lines. Here's all you need to know, it's a book, that when complete, you are looking for the next installment. Get the book, but be prepared to blow a Saturday, or a Sunday, or a couple 3 late nights, because you will want to finish.

O.J. and me
I’ve never met O.J. Simpson. But I feel like I’ve known him all my life. All three O.J.s. The beloved football superstar of the ‘70s. The accused murderer from the Trial of the Century in the 90s. And the O.J. who sits in a jail cell in Nevada today.
My new suspense thriller, SHOOTING FOR THE STARS (Atria – August 11), is about a celebrity crime. I tell the story of a tabloid newspaper reporter named Gil Malloy who links the long-ago murder of a legendary Hollywood movie star to a series of present-day celebrity killings. I draw on a number of real-life celebrity murders – most notably John Lennon and Sharon Tate – in my fictional story.
But it also brings back memories of the most amazing celebrity crime case I ever covered as a journalist – the murders of O.J. ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman.

"Ripped from the headlines" isn't enough
I’m a tabloid journalist and I write mystery novels. So people rarely ask me where I come up with the ideas for my books. They just assume I get them from the sensational stories I’ve covered in the newsroom. Well, there is some truth I guess to the “ripped from the headlines” formula for writing crime fiction – first made popular by the TV show “Law and Order.” But it’s really not that easy to come up with a good mystery.

10 Unanswered Questions about Celebrity Deaths
Marilyn Monroe. John Lennon. Whitney Houston. Natalie Wood. Princess Diana. Many of our most famous celebrities have died leaving questions behind about what really happened during their last hours.
My new thriller SHOOTING FROM THE STARS is about the murder of a legendary movie star named Laura Marlowe. And I draw on some of the mysteries still surrounding the real-life deaths of John Lennon, Sharon Tate and others to tell the story in my novel.
Here are 10 famous celebrity deaths that we still don’t have all the answers for:

Confessions of a tabloid journalist
I’ve spent a lot of years as a tabloid journalist. I was metropolitan editor of The New York Post. News editor of Star magazine. And managing editor of the New York Daily News. My new suspense thriller Shooting for the Stars is about a tabloid journalist too–it’s the second in the Gil Malloy series about a Daily News reporter who breaks big front page stories. The Gil Malloy books are fiction, but I draw heavily on my own media background for them. Here are some of my real-life adventures in journalism. Read more...
