A Red Rose for the New Moon
"Honey, I'm on enough Valium to tranquilize you, your mother, and two baby elephants. My anxiety is still killing me and I can't get the bastard out of my head. I can’t sleep at night and, when I do, as soon as I wake up he’s right back in my mind. You'd think that'd be enough reason to move on. There. That's everything in a nutshell. Now look in that crystal ball and tell me what he's doing!" So said one of my clients the second she sat down in my office.
Broken hearts, unrequited love, loneliness, despair. These are some of the many problems that my clients bring to me. If gone untreated, they actually cause illness. This is why so many people seek spiritual and psychic counsel. They come to me for answers, advice, and a compassionate ear.
If you live long enough, it will happen to you. In fact, you may consider yourself savvy and street-smart, experienced and wise. No matter. One day love with all its beauty and excruciating pain will meet you face to face, shred your life into tiny bits, and then walk away as if nothing ever happened.
You may have been victimized, cheated on, abused emotionally and maybe even physically. You may feel as if the best years of your life have been taken from you. You may be questioning how someone could love you so much and then just stop; ignoring the cell phone when your texts come through; drifting in and out of your life as if they have no emotions. Are they sociopaths? Sometimes I wonder.
But despite this treatment, you wait, believing in that absurd virtue called hope. What can I say? We love the ones we love.
Is this what you are experiencing? If so, this message is meant for you. I hope it helps.
So now what? Acceptance. You can neither change nor control anyone other than yourself. If someone falls out of love with you, accept it. Time to move on.
A friend once told me that she tries to find three things a day that she is thankful for. It helps her feel better. I'll go with that.
I have another friend who is on his way to Rome to visit the Temple of Venus. He’s going to leave a red rose and make a wish for love. He promised that he’d do the same for me. I'll go with that too.
This new moon – on March 8, 2016 – is a total solar eclipse in Pisces. It is a sensitive, not emotional, moon, a time for reflection, understanding, and new beginnings. So light a pink candle to the Goddess. She will help you to move on.
Take a moment to find the best memory you have of the one you loved. It may be a picture on your phone. If so, print it. It may be the warmth you felt the last time you held each other. If so, embrace that feeling. Now release the pain.
There was a purpose for your relationship. But do not try to figure it out. Let the Goddess reveal it to you in Her time.
Now, open your heart to the abundance of unconditional love that is available from the Universe. Ask for healing. Understand that you are a good person and deserve all good things. Firmly resolve to enjoy your life more each day.
Under this new moon remember:
If someone wants to be with you, they will find a way.
If someone cares about you, they will fight to keep you.
If someone has feelings for you, they will find a way to let you know.
And you will never have to worry about when or why.
Many Blessings,
Lawren Leo

The Secret of the Mind's Eye
There is a third eye in every human being, located between the brows and just above the bridge of the nose. In metaphysical language it is oftentimes called the mind’s eye. A person who can utilize it has a gift to foresee the future. The French call it ‘clairvoyance’, literally meaning ‘clear seeing’.
Another gift comes with the opening of the mind's eye. It is highly coveted and so precious a commodity that it is rarely, if ever, mentioned. The hidden gift is creativity!
One of the best kept secrets that accompanies the development of the mind's eye is its ability to form ideas. A well-formed idea has the ability to bestow riches and fame, self-esteem and fulfillment.
Some tap into this ability naturally, unaware that it is rooted in the confines of the mind's eye. Others meditate or employ other occult disciplines to help develop it. Once the goal of creativity is realized, results are within reach.
In my book, 'Dragonflame', I give detailed instructions to attain this goal. I refer you to the ritual ‘Moon Rite: To Open Your Mind's Eye’. Here is a brief excerpt:
"Through the doorway of the mind's eye lies our inner temple. It is a long walk to this temple, but once the doors are open and you take the first steps, certain abilities may be obtained, such as tranquility, wisdom, intuition, clairvoyance, guidance, magic, and love. In order to use and perfect these gifts they must be shared..."
"Luna Lux Lucis: The Moonlight Spell
Moon's glow, diffuse light
Seal rendered to third sight
Aperite, Revelamini statim
Mind's eye, fire ignite
Future visions reveal tonight"
Another technique I'll share with you is the power of affirmation. Each day for forty days (an alchemical month) try the following:
Light a deep purple candle for two minutes each day (purple is the color associated with the mind's eye, the full moon, power, and psychic ability). Set a timer to help. While concentrating on the area where your mind's eye is located, repeat this affirmation for the two-minute duration:
Now I am receptive to important psychic information.
At the end of the two-minute duration say “So be it!” and extinguish the candle flame with a snuffer.
You can also enhance this experience by holding lapis lazuli (a gemstone associated with the mind's eye).
Some parting advice: The mind's eye is a magical doorway. It allows creativity to flow through you and comingle with your five senses. When you feel this, then you must use one or all five of them as tools to manifest it on the earth plane. So ground your spiritual work by exercising your creativity. If you enjoy cooking – cook. If you enjoy photography – take pictures. If you enjoy writing – write.
Each morning upon awakening, imagine yourself filled with creativity. Then, as a newly born creative person, one who feels and acts deeply, ask yourself what you can contribute to society. The rest will follow.

How to Receive Spiritual Messages
‘Dust off the books on your shelf and take another glance through their pages.’
After my first sip of morning espresso this thought unexpectedly introduced itself.
Like a good sleuth, I followed my hunch and made my way over to the not-so-neatly condensed New Age reading material that I had collected for over two decades. I followed a strong urge and soon enough was holding one of my old journals in my left hand and a Harry Potter-ish looking grimoire in my right. Opening the journal first, a bookmark fell out. It read, Concentration is the Key. Then, with controlled excitement, I slowly opened the grimoire. My anticipation was well rewarded as I read a passage written in an elegant cursive script, Chant to Unlock Creativity. I listened to myself whisper each passage as images of keys turning locks formed in my mind’s eye. Satisfied, I returned to my espresso and began writing.
Books are only one example of how to receive messages. The mind and imagination are limitless. They can create message routes ranging from angels and animal totems to dreams and Chinese fortune cookies. With all of this at our disposal the question arises, where does one begin? The answer is through a combination of asking and acting. Most people do this naturally and are not aware of it. For example, before I took that first sip of espresso, I was experiencing a need – inspiration. As I was pondering over this (asking), a flash of magic came to me and I went for the books (acting).
But what happens when you are not receiving inspiration? Initiate the process through prayer and meditation. In this way you actively open yourself to the universe and your own subconscious thoughts. Then use my formula [asking + acting = inspiration] and commit yourself to each part. This direct approach makes receiving messages more relaxed, but no less thought-provoking or profound. You should also open yourself to finding inspiration offered to you by holy sources. These could be a rare glimpse of shooting stars, a double rainbow, a halo around the moon, a bluebird, or an ancient image on a card. These messages are not coincidences. They are fueled when we permit ourselves to awareness and can actively transform us. We need to believe that like the dial of a compass these signs are pointing us in the right direction.
The universe has spoiled us with options. Take advantage of them to enrich your life. And the next time you find yourself walking under the night sky, throw a little whisper to the moon…and don’t be surprised if she answers.
