I have basically been ignoring Goodreads...

Why?
Because after several book giveaways and a fair amount of energy - I'm not getting the feedback that I need to show it isn't a waste of time.

I'll give Goodreads another shot in the fall, but so far even post-throttling Facebook generates more fan interaction.

We'll see how it goes.

I have four free short story drafts now for reading

The idea is you'll read these and then want to read the main series. Four short stories about the characters in the book series "It Really IS Rocket Science" - flashbacks to when they were young teens, dealing with the cards life threw them before becoming the young adults you meet in the series.

I have a little pile of short stories bubbling out of me. They don't fit in my main story line in the Rocket Science series. Thought I might collect them to insert in a future volume as a bonus. Here's a draft of one - a back story about one of the characters, Kpau. She's the energetic blonde drummer of the band.

Is Goodreads really worth the time?

So far, I can't say I've had a lot of results with Goodreads. I've done a book giveaway with no reviews resulting. I'm currently trying an advert.

I will say it is a nice place to DOCUMENT what I've done. The librarians have been magnificent in helping me catalog my book series properly. Cover changes and edition updates remain a little odd but that's obviously an artifact of the database engine.

Has it gotten me more readers? Not nearly as many as google+, twitter, and facebook.

We'll keep tinkering with it. I'm trying to decide how to handle a book giveaway for a series. It doesn't make a lot of sense to do that for book 2 or 3. I'll look up and see whether the system can handle a book series giveaway -- or I just keep having to giveaway book 1.

The book cover shoot for vol. 3 is essentially done. Starting the book cover title work for Volume 1 and 3 while revising/editing the story in volume 3.

I'm currently preparing the ebook version of Volume 2 of the series "It Really IS Rocket Science" (Surfing With the Alien). Also in revise/edit phase of the Volume 3 of IRIRS (Go Go Godzilla).

The bookcover shoot for the third book is going well as long as I keep the stars out of my eyes (my cover model is very good about keeping me in line). She's also reshooting the cover of the first volume so I can have a custom image instead of the stock library photo I used to evoke the character of Glycerin, lead guitarist for the band.

Here's a preview of the new Volume 1 cover art - still some post-processing to do (adding tattoos, background elements, etc).

First Post, there are no curtains

The tools don't seem to have a way to let me set everything up BEFORE it goes public. So don't mind the "half done" appearance for now unless you just want to grab some popcorn and watch me populate the site over the next week or so.

I'm writing a book series about the quirky members of a rock band, their origins, their adventures, their relationships and their lives. Comedy, drama, adventure, tragedy, romance ... kind of like real life.

First book is out. Would love some reviews of it.
