here's some links for you about me
Kristen Felicetti interviewed me for the Fanzine about the videos for Black Cloud that I have been making.
Luna Miguel wrote about me for PlayGround. My Spanish is too bad to read it, but from Google Translate I am pretty sure it is nice. It talks about Noah Cicero & alt lit in general and also my name gets translated as “Juliet Slag,” which is awesome to me.
Tobias Carroll wrote briefly about my book, along with J. David Osborne’s and Sean Madigan Hoen’s.
Also, Carabella Sands wrote this poem and it is up at Hobart and it’s fucking great.

Every Literary Person I Remember Having Had a Problem With or Who I Remember Having Had a Problem With Me
Lee Klein (Eyeshot editor) – sent him a submission for Eyeshot in 2003 to which he replied “whenever you write something like this, immediately delete it.” Remember crying while reading that email. A few months after that sent him a picture for Eyeshot Literary Escort thingy (…

OFFICIAL BOOK TRAILER FOR BLACK...
OFFICIAL BOOK TRAILER FOR BLACK CLOUD!!!
Juliet Escoria is the sort of person who wants you to buy their book. The problem with book trailers is usually they are relatively boring things with just a single thing followed by a few cool blurbs. Well Beach Sloth considers Black Cloud to be one of the greatest things to cross his eyes. By keeping things pitch perfect dark Juliet Escoria has created the sort of thing that literally demands to be read in a single sitting. Failure to do so is punishable by death.
Civil Coping Mechanisms did the whole world a great favor by unleashing this sucker onto the unsuspecting public. Hence they probably needed to do a few trailers for the book to get the public at least a little ready. The heads are not ready for this; they are busy being the heads of state with too little time to devote to mere books. If a single head of state bothered to give it a quick read they would realize exactly how much the book could change their life. Any head of state with this valuable insight into the human condition, given to them for next to nothing, would be able to outmaneuver their opponents. Such a head of state has read the book. Vladimir Putin, of Russia fame, recently read the book and things have been going great for him. Unfortunately the rest of the world failed to put Juliet Escoria’s book on their reading list, opting instead to re-read the Harry Potter series.
Will the world pick up on the sheer brilliance that comes out this very day? The answer is a resounding maybe. Earth tends to have a lot of writers of varying degrees of quality. Juliet Escoria’s work tends to be in that upper rung of writers. Beach Sloth has adored her work even before he ever got his little sloth claws on the book. Releasing so many videos allowed Juliet Escoria to reach brand new audience members who opt to get their hype from VIMEO instead of YouTube, who realize that true art inspires yet more true art.
Failure to purchase Black Cloud will result in a less fulfilling life. People need to prepare themselves for the dark times. Life can be relentlessly brutal at times and it is good to know what a person will be getting into. Hence Black Cloud is the kind of thing that could change lives, save lives, and make the world a better place. It takes darkness to acknowledge the light.
Review: Black Cloud by Juliet Escoria | Brian Alan Ellis
![]()
Juliet Escoria is a witchy woman, and Black Cloud, her aptly titled debut collection of (autobiographical?) stories, punctures deep into the heart of drug and sexual abuse, and casts a harrowing spell on the reader that, like her characters, will not easily break:
We went to sleep, together but alone, that night. We did no eye gazing at all. Just stared at the backs of our own eyelids, an act that doesn’t take and gives nothing to no one.
This is not an Oprah Book Club selection. These are twelve soul-smashing vignettes, each prefaced by an ominous word: RESENTMENT, APATHY, DISGUST, REVENGE, and so on.
Really appreciate this review. Thank you, Brian.
