Dona Fox writes short stories and poetry - horror, dark fantasy and science fiction.

In the early 1990's Dona lived in an amazing Queen Anne Gothic house. All of the interior doors had been painted black. There were secret passages inside the closets. That house inspired her to write stories and poetry that were published in Cemetery Dance (Issue #1), Eldritch Tales, New Blood, Thin Ice, Haunts, Scavenger's, and Beyond.

Now Dona lives beside a quiet gully in the shadows of several giant sequoias. It is one of the most frightening places she has ever lived.

New Stories and Poetry are in the books listed below. Enjoy your visit.

Part Two is due in April, and Three much later, but I feel that I need to let Part Three unravel to completion before I let Two out of my hands just in case there are clues I should provide to the reader early on. I'm often accused of being vague; I'm trying to be very clear and upfront in this series. I want all the clues to be there for you so that you could solve all the little mysteries before the end if you wanted.(less)

At this point, even I have to struggle for an answer to that. Where did this complex world of a traveling circus, peopled with so many warring personalities, that settles down next to a forest filled with vampires come from anyway? I do remember. I can recall clearly when the line "sometimes they fall" and the image of the trapeze artist's partner sprawled in the dirt below like a spent flower--and always I have the image of blood flowing like a flower blooming because I saw that as a small child and I never will forget the sight as a loved one hemorrhaged and died. It may take many iterations, in numerous stories to write that out of my head. So my ideas come from my ghosts and lines and images that pop into my head and won't leave; I begin to mumble them out loud, then I write them down. If the lines and images survive, they become stories.(less)

SERIES REVIEW – The TEMPEST KNOX Books by Kat Gracey –Occult Horror – Paranormal & Urban Fantasy

Rising Storm: (Tempest Knox Book 1) What an enjoyable read! Tempest Knox is a normal, engaging, flawed, and therefore believable main character. I thoroughly enjoyed my time in her company. There was a very spooky backstory that gave depth to the main tale and the intriguing subplots. (I got a chill eve Read more of this blog post »

"Nice little tale with an interesting concept. I don't see the conspiracy aspect being as strong as I've seen others mention. This story was too short and didn't gain enough traction for me. I think it had potential to be longer than 17 pages, maybe a" Read more of this review »

“do not try to remove evil from a world that was actually created to cradle and preserve it - and that would be a fool’s mission anyway.”

Raymond Chandler
“There was a desert wind blowing that night. It was one of those hot dry Santa Anas that come down through the mountain passes and curl your hair and make your nerves jump and your skin itch. On nights like that every booze party ends in a fight. Meek little wives feel the edge of the carving knife and study their husbands' necks. Anything can happen. You can even get a full glass of beer at a cocktail lounge.”
Raymond Chandler, Red Wind: A Collection of Short Stories
