My books are in a couple of contests that you might want to enter:

YA Reader Giveaway Blitz kids-in-peril-insta

On my Nanowrimo project, I am at 78,000 words and should be done in a day or two!

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme. Read the rules at Books and a Beat. Anyone can play along.

I recently finished The Unseen World by Liz Moore. It’s an interesting journey into the human mind and artificial intelligence. It isn’t a light read, but it is fascinating!

She could not articulate what was different in his demeanor, but it triggered a deep-seated uneasiness in her. It was a hair in her mouth or sand in her shoe. She looked at her father now: he was lifting up the mixing bowls to show Giordi the cooked lobsters on the countertops.

Ada Sibelius is raised by David, her brilliant, eccentric, socially inept single father, who directs a computer science lab in 1980s-era Boston. Home-schooled, Ada accompanies David to work every day; by twelve, she is a painfully shy prodigy. The lab begins to gain acclaim at the same time that David’s mysterious history comes into question. When his mind begins to falter, leaving Ada virtually an orphan, she is taken in by one of David’s colleagues. Soon she embarks on a mission to uncover her father’s secrets: a process that carries her from childhood to adulthood. What Ada discovers on her journey into a virtual universe will keep the reader riveted until The Unseen World’s heart-stopping, fascinating conclusion.

A couple of contests to win ebooks are going on that you might want to enter:

On my new Nanowrimo project, I am at 40,000 words. Coming along nicely!

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme. Read the rules at Books and a Beat. Anyone can play along.

I am currently reading The Lost Girls (Book #2 in The Suburban Murder Series) by Alexa Steele. Child sex trade/human trafficking is one of the issues near and dear to my heart, a theme that repeats a number of times throughout my own books. This is a gritty story that can be difficult to read. This quote is on a lighter note. Detective Bella de Franco views vacation as more of a punishment than a privilege:

Only place I go when I’m not working is into my own head. That’s why it’s no fun.

The Lost Girls, Alexa Steele

The brutally beaten body of a young girl is discovered in a marsh in Jamesport, one of New York’s most elite suburbs. Police comb the area, while many speculate her murder might be connected to the abduction, six months earlier, of three girls from Jamesport. The FBI has evidence of an underage prostitution and trafficking ring which may be related. At the request of the FBI, Billy Dee, captain of the Ninth Precinct in the Bronx, head of its Sex Crimes Unit, sends two of his most seasoned detectives to Jamesport to conduct their own investigation: Bella de Franco and Jimmy “Mack” Menendez. They are sent north, back into the land of the beautiful.

Between local politics, fractured families, a heroin

Between local politics, fractured families, a heroin epidemic and a dark secret that the wealthy town strives to keep hidden, the unspeakably dark and twisted reality lurking behind Jamesport life is uncovered. As they learn that everything is not what it seems in this wealthy suburb, Bella and Mack must race against the clock to save one last girl before she is sold across state lines, where she will vanish forever.

Release of EDS, Medical Kidnap Files #2 and other new reads

What would you do if your child was taken away from you for trying to treat her rare disease?

What would you do if you woke up in hospital with no family or friends and no idea what you were doing there?

What if you knew there was a conspiracy and no one would believe you?

eds-mockupVolume #2 of the Medical Kidnap Files, EDS, is now available! Mito was released last month and Proxy is on preorder and will be released in December.

Fourteen-year-old Seth Wilcox has been admitted to the hospital forty-eight times, according to his mother’s latest social media posts, when Social Services steps in and takes Seth into care, believing his mother suffers from Munchausen by Proxy and Seth is not safe in her care.

Gabriel Tate is now a veteran in dealing with medical kidnap and reuniting children with their families. He knows Seth and his mom, Leva, a tireless mitochondrial disorder advocate. He knows he needs to get Seth back to Leva as soon as he can.

With the authorities hot on their trails, Gabriel and Renata face increasingly difficult challenges. Can they stay one step ahead of the authorities? Can they finally get Seth somewhere he will be safe?

chloe kindle

Ruby, Between the Cracks is still free at the Kindle store and other ebook retailers. I am getting excited about publishing book four in the Between the Cracks series in January. Chloe is a heart-wrenching story that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Nanowrimo started today, so once this post is up, I am off to the races on my newest manuscript. Take a peek at what I’m doing!

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme. Read the rules at Books and a Beat. Anyone can play along.

I read Paper in the Wind: Peeling back the lifespan of autism in the wake of tragedy by Olivia Mason-Charles a couple of weeks ago, but it has stuck with me, so I’ll post a teaser this week.

One Sunday morning, I was walking up the stairs when Alexa said, “Dada.” I damn near passed out. When I regained my senses, I grabbed her and ran down the stairs so fast. I was half way to the ice cream store before I realized that I was barefoot and in my pajamas. I did not care. My daughter had said, “Dada.” I was freaking out!

Paper in the Wind is a compassionate and riveting story depicting a single father’s dedication to his daughter. In the midst of the overwhelming struggles that accompanied autism, he continues to persevere. Her father’s love enabled her to overcome insurmountable obstacles, discovered the power of love and embraced the gift of life.

Tattooed Teardrops now available in audiobook! Act now to get a free copy

tattooed-audiobookTattooed Teardrops, winner of the Top Fiction award in the In the Margins Best Books for Teens 2016, is now available on audio, read by Keylor Leigh. I had a hard time finding just the right narrator for Tamara’s voice, but Keylor fit the bill.

For a limited time, I am offering copies of Tattooed Teardrops for free through Audible. If you want to get a copy, email me before all the free copies are gone!

A realistic and beautiful story filled with suspense, heartbreaking friendship and loyalty award-winning author P.D. Workman’s brings you the intriguing story of Tamara’s struggle to make a life for herself after her incarceration. But things aren’t going to be easy.

I don’t plan on getting in any trouble.

Tamara had thought that when she got out of juvie, things would be easier. But before long, it seems like her life is spiraling into chaos.

If she can’t prove to her probation officer that she is innocent of the allegations against her, she’s going back to prison, and Tamara just can’t let that happen.

Praise for Tattooed Teardrops

—For me, a sign of a good book is that it is a quick read, holds my interest front to back and I like the characters. This book met the mark on all three of those characteristics.

—A slimy villain, an eager-to-please side-kick and a heroine who simply wants to move on from her past make for an intriguing tale, indeed! A realistic and beautiful story filled with suspense, heartbreaking friendship and loyalty that will keep you reading until the very end.

—This book is refreshingly bold

—That was an amazing book…I couldn’t stop reading it! It took me about two days to read it and I ended up staying up late on a school night! Oh well, it was totally worth it! Thank you!

—Absolutely amazing, I just want to keep reading!

—No words, just pure happiness.

—I found myself rooting for [Tamara] all the way to the end.

Praise for P.D. Workman

“Every single one of [P.D. Workman’s] books has spoken to me in ways no one or almost anything else has. And I have found strength in the books I’ve read.”

“The way that P.D. Workman writes just flows amazingly and allows the reader to get really invested in a book.”
