How the internet helped me with english as a second language

I’ve been studying english my whole life, being spinish my mother language.
At school I didn’t pay much attention to the useful tool they where teaching me, so I let it shrink in my brain for  3 years.
During most of that time I started to use the internet for almost everything in my life. Most of the things that interested me were in english (and at the time I was studying physiology and neuroscience so I needed to read papers in english).
I started to use all my electronic devices in english, and understanding the way people wrote on posts, comments, etc (that it’s completely different from what they teach you on a classroom)
So I learned a lot on the internet and also how to write fast and still understand what people were saying. (with bad grammar and horrible cohesion).

It is useful, thou. To know how language function in the current period of time. My father came to me asking me to read an email response one of his colleagues sent him. Was a quick and short answer which actually answered all the questions  my father asked. I explained to him how his colleague answered everything in such short email and he was confused for the lack of language. But that’s how most of the communications works know. Fast and simple.

Still, don’t forget to used the language properly. Any language. I like to keep my brain working on learning more than one language and try to use it well before start using it in a colloquial way.

Stop beating yourself up over all the days you didn’t work on your story. Focus on what you can do today.

Sit down, and write.
