Cindy Springsteen amazing Children's author whose books teach us a VERY important lesson

Our next SUPER TALENTED author is Cindy Springsteen. Her two books are another of my daughter's favorite books. I love the Waffles and Pancakes series, my daughter absolutely loves Waffles and Pancakes and all of their adventures.

Review on Waffles and Pancakes A Lesson in Friendship
Waffles and Pancakes are two hamsters who are friends who are bought by two different boys from the pet store the same day. They miss each other so the boys decide to get them together for a play date. Little did they know that by having this play date the two boys who owned them became fast friends! I love this story because it teaches you can find and make friends in the strangest of places. It really hit home for my daughter because we moved 4 years ago. She said: "I wish I would have read this book when we moved. Then I wouldn't have been so scared to move!"

Review Waffles and Pancakes a Lesson In Bullying:
I personally think this book should be in every elementary and even some middle schools throughout the world. Waffles and Pancakes are back, and this time they are dealing with a BULLY! Not only are Waffles and Pancakes being bullied but their owners Danny and Griffin are being bullied. Tom owns Oscar a mean guinea pig! This is such a great story about how to deal with a bully and survive bullying with friendship! This book came out at the perfect time when my daughter was dealing with a bully and I read it to her several times when she was dealing with it she loved this book!

Wendy Nystrom, Amazing Children's Author!

I'm so proud to present this author! Meet the AMAZING Wendy Nystrom, she is one of my FAVORITE children's authors! In FACT these first few days of this month have some of my FAVORITE kid's authors. My daughter is a huge fan of the two authors I'll be featuring the next two days.

All your stories are set in Iceland, is there special meaning for that country with you?

Yes, we lived in Akureyri, Iceland for 2 years. Living there changed my life and it where I began writing.  It is a relaxed society focused on family and the people. The Icelandic people were very kind to me and my family and welcomed us.

You must have studied this Iceland thoroughly to be so knowledgeable on all the history and

mysteries of this country?

Most of what I picked up on the culture was while living there. Icelanders love to share their culture through conversations, books and events. Plus I have maintained many of my friendships I made while living there and I can easily contact them for information.  I highly recommend visiting the country and or read their sagas and books.

Now talking about your newest book, which of the Yule lads would you like to host year round?

This is a tough question. I don’t think they would want to stay with anyone all year round. Pretty close knit group of lads and they like their mountain home. They only clean up once a year in lake Myvatn and visit the cities, towns during Christmas.

Which yule lad can stay with James year round?

James would have to decide this. I think he would rather have Matt or Syvok stay year round instead.

What was your favorite Yule Lad moment?

I like the moment when they are pulling stubby out of the cat door and they all tumble to the ground.

Your favorite James moment
(through the entire series)

My favorite moment is when Matthias the dragon shows up and James is always so excited that he cannot speak.

Does Helga represent anyone in your life?

I think she is a combination of people I know who like to bend the rules for the greater good.

Which character is drawn just like you envisioned?

Matthias the dragon

Which book cover do you like the best?

I wish I could reveal book 4 cover Amongst the Clouds that is my favorite. Tomfoolery is my favorite although I love the cover for James Saves the Moon that was done with my first illustrator.

Can we get a sneak peek of what's next for James and the gang?

Book 4 is called Amongst the Clouds. James and his pals will have an adventure after visiting a friend in an iridescent cloud. It is a grand adventure to help a wizard find her key so she can continue traveling to her conference. I bring all my characters from my previous books. It is super fun adventure.

Besides that are there any new projects?

I continue to work on my urban fantasy novel New Moon Brethren a secret society amongst us that just wants to protect all creatures on earth must battle the dark one who has accidentally created over 1000 years ago. Two more James and pals adventures in the works they are nearly done. James will be on vacation in the states and another Christmas story.

Now some quickfire questions:

Where were you born? St. Paul, MN

Favorite Holiday tradition? Watching It’s a Wonderful Life and playing board, dice or card games.

Favorite song?  I like many songs I prefer rock like Supertramp, Bob Seger, Eagles, Led Zeppelin, Bad Company and many more.

Favorite Holiday? All holidays have a special favorite. I guess it would be Halloween because it holiday that is all about fun.

Favorite color?  Purple

Favorite Author?  I read a lot and have many favorites. Anne McCaffrey, David Weber (honor Harrington series)Elizabeth Peters (Amerlia Peabody series) I love star wars books too, I think I have all of them in my collection adult , YA, teen.

Favorite Book? Books are reread are the authors I mentioned before. I do love the book Rowan my first book I read written by RIP Anne McCaffrey. The book I have that contains the Declaration of Independence, Federalists Papers and the Constitution.

Favorite Food? Gyro

Favorite Beverage? Coffee, lime flavored Perrier with a splash of cranberry juice. Sometimes I add a little vodka in the evenings

Favorite Snack? Salty snacks. I Love Doritos, but I do not eat them anymore

Is there anything you would like to say to your fans? Thank you for reading my books. Keep on reading and dreaming it is what changes the world.

Wendy has written 3 amazing books all set in Iceland!
The first one is James Saves The Moon

This is a magical tale about a young lad named James, who goes on a fantastical adventure to help free the moon! He meets a new friend named Syvok who lives in a pile of stones and together they journey along with my favorite character Matthias the dragon to where the moon is STUCK! It's such a beautifully crafted story full of whimsy and excitement! I love the pictures and the way they show us what's going on in the story. A must read for the young and young at heart!

The next fantastic tale is Helga ReturnsI absolutely love Helga, she's grumpy gorgeous amazing and another of my favorite characters in the James and Syvok Universe. Yes Syvok and James are BACK in a second adventure! I absolutely loved the portal to the troll village.
This is another amazingly crafted tale! Helga is such a neat character I absolutely love her. Another Must Read for the young and young at heart!

The third and most recent story is Tomfoolery and the 13 Yule Lads of Iceland!
In this 3rd installment of the James and Syvok series James meets the 13 yule lads of Iceland, they are some of the FUNNIEST characters I have EVER met! I personally like the funny names like spoonlicker and potlicker! Those two are FOREVER hungry AND messy! It's a great story for Christmastime or ANYTIME! My daughter and I were laughing through the whole story!

Indie month

With the holidays coming I decided to give Indie authors some exposure. Sometimes when you buy a book from a well known author you're missing something awesome from an indie author. There are some really amazing Indie books out there by some amazing authors! So this season, instead of buying a book by a well known author consider trying something new like books by children's authors like

Wendy Nystrom

Cindy Springsteen

Jodi Brooks Stone

How about a story by a young adult author like Christy Sloat?

Or an adventure story by Brae Wyckoff.

Try out Days Gone Bad by Eric Asher.

Other authors to check out are Becki Brannen

Adam Gaffen

Jessica O Gorek

Stacey Rourke

 Jill Prand

Ben Daniels

How about a true life crime book by RJ Parker?

Or a Steamy Paranormal romance by TM Scott

You could always try out the Species Intervention Series by JK Accinni

How about a Zombie Novel By CM Wright?

or if you want to read a touching story try the true life stories of love and loss by Jamie Gibson, and Raebeth Mcgee-Buda.

Do you like reading blogs? Then you should Check out Sarah Fae Graham's blog Fae Books where you can meet even MORE Indie authors!!

These are just some of the books authors and blogs you will see featured here on my blog during the month of December!!!

CM Wright The Zombie Queen!

I had the awesome privilege of interviewing none other than CM WRIGHT the Zombie queen. She's such a talented author and a great friend of mine. So without further Adieu here is her amazing interview:

Lee : So why zombies?
CM :     I've been in love with zombies (not THAT kind of love!) since I was a little girl and my mom took me to the movies to see Night Of The Living Dead by George Romero. As far as I know, that was the first time I had been exposed to zombies. I love them because they truly scared me, unlike vampires and werewolves and all other paranormal creatures...but one, and because I can honestly see a zombie outbreak happening. Not sure if it would be a total takeover like it's portrayed everywhere, but I do believe it can happen...if it hasn't already (bathsalts)

Lee : So who is the main character of the Zombie Overload series?
     CM : Canada
Lee : What's her story?
CM: Canada is a 36 year-old slightly overweight housewife and mom, who is a zombie-freak  before the apocalypse actually happens. In her mind, she was the ultimate bad-ass when fantasizing about a zombie outbreak. Then when it really happens, she realizes that things aren't going to go as she had planned, and maybe she's not so tough.
Lee : Which character do you identify with the most?

CM : Canada
Lee : Which character do you love to hate?
     CM : Sara
Lee : Which character / scene was the most fun to write?        CM : Most fun character was, of course, Canada. But I can't pick just one scene! There were so many. But I will control myself and just pick one The scene when Canada first meets Jake and they go in to clear out an armory and get weapons. Canada tells him off and then lifts the gun to his head. I had a great time with that one!
Lee : Your cover is stunning, who is the zombie girl on there?
CM:  Trisha Wilko, my very good friend. She is also very beautiful, which people will see on future covers that are not zombie-related.  Go like her facebook page and look at all her crazy, beautiful, and amazing photos
Lee : Is there a story behind each cover?
CM : If there is, it's her story; not mine.
Lee : Tell me a little about the compilation project you just did and the charity it's going to?
CM: The short story collection, Zombie Addiction, is a compilation of zombie shorts from many different authors. Some are just that, beginning and ending stories. Some are teasers from a much larger book or series. The authors are: Me (of course!), Timothy Benoit, Dovey Mayali Cralk, Kelly J. Erickson, John Stagman,   Lee : What paranormal creature would you be if you could be any one?
     CM : None, Really!
Lee : What weapon would you love to have in a Zombie apocalypse?
CM :  Gun. I'm a shooter, doubt I'm strong enough to kill with a weapon that depends on strength because of 18pt Fibromyalgia
Lee : Who would you want fighting with you?
      CM : My family
Lee : What's the most important thing you need in a zombie apocalypse?
CM : Well, brains...to use, not to feed the zombies with.
Lee : Your cover picture is amazing is there a story behind the location you picked?
CM : The cover pictures were made long before I wrote the series. You will have to ask Trisha  about that.
        Lee : Who inspires you?
CM : My family and my fans?
Lee : What's your favorite TV show?
CM : The Walking Dead. (As if you didn't know!!)
Lee : Do you have to have certain conditions to write?
       CM : Not really.
Lee : What's your favorite song?
CM : I have a ton, but my most favorite...the one I will stop what I'm                 doing and bust a move for....is Thriller, of course!
Lee : Would you like to say anything to your fans?
CM :  I absolutely LOVE you all! You are more than anonymous fans to me, you are friends who have been there for me during my worst times, and during my best. Thank you so much for being so supportive and loving. I couldn't do this without you–Hell! Why would I want to? LOL Seriously, I truly do have the best fans ever!

And we sure do love you!! CM is one of my favorite authors and an amazing and wonderful friend of mine! Check out her books!

Here is some more info on the fabulous CM Wright:

Wife and mother who recently moved from Decatur, IL to outside Skidmore, MO. She loves all things zombie and is a huge fan of The Walking Dead. She likes to laugh and make others laugh, so she does her best to bring that to her readers...for the Zombie Overload series anyway. Eventually, she is planning to write about other creatures that go bump in the night.

The Embarrassing Memory Murderer by David Tieck Cover Reveal

The Embarrassing Memory Murderer by David Tieck
Hilarious Memoir Shares One Man’s Embarrassing Journeys, Many Failures and Life Lessons The Embarrassing Memory Murderer (published by iUniverse) shares the memoir of author David Tieck’s endless array of humiliating memories as he comes to grip with his past, finds his adventurous spirit, and offers hope, wisdom and understanding to anyone who is willing to laugh about their own disconcerting moments, WELL, that was the idea at least
I had a plan. It was simple, if I could let all of my worst, most humiliating, and most painful memories each inspire some sort of adventure or challenge, then these memories would finally be adding something positive to my life, and by doing so I could murder the pain, and live a happier life. Ah, thinking about all my most horrible memories all the time, this is going to be awesome, what could possibly go wrong? It started out great, my horrible past epic shyness, extremely late puberty, and fondness for bleeding and then crying in front of my friends led me to the Cannes Film Festival, tulip shopping in Amsterdam and hanging out with real life vampires in Paris. However then I had an awful break up, I had a bunch of things go really wrong, suffered a smidge of severe mental and physical pain, started to flirt with madness, went on a jovial jaunt through the darkest realms of my brain, and started flinging away everything that was important to me. Oh and along the way and I had a bunch of fun, a ton of laughs, met some awesome people and some celebrities, partied a lot, had some adventures, and eventually learned a lot about life. You’ll laugh, you’ll want to slap me in the face, maybe give me a hug or two, then slap me a few times more – I really am a big stupid damn idiot. Please laugh at my pain; I truly deserve it.

Tomfoolery and 13 Yule Lads Of Iceland

Congratulations to my dear friend Wendy Nystrom on the release of her new book Tomfoolery and 13 Yule Lads of Iceland! I've been a huge huge fan of hers for a long time! My daughter loves reading her books, and can seriously get lost in the stories that Wendy weaves. My favorite character is Matthias the blue dragon, he's just so cool. I'd love to have a dragon as a friend! She is an awesome author with a huge heart and a great friend to all who know her. She's also very knowledgeable on all things Iceland! I absolutely love her!

Make sure to stop by her event today and congratulate her!

https://www.facebook.com/events/669581326386103/

My Review :

James is at it again! After a harrowing adventure with the Old Hag the Yule Lads come and stay with James in his bedroom at night! I can tell you he is a very patient host. The Yule Lads are noisy and messy, I'm particular to Pot Scraper, Spoon Licker, and Bowl Licker they remind me of my son who LOVES to eat and is skinny and tall. Tomfoolery and the 13 Yule Lads of Iceland is a story that is great fun, and had me laughing so hard. Wendy's done it again telling an amazing tale of friendship, love and of course Tomfoolery. If you have kids or if you're a kid at heart you're going to love this story!

And now for the awesome interview!

What is the main inspiration for your children's books?

My children and love of adventure. When I was home schooling my son we noticed not a lot adventure stories in the elementary age books in 2009        Are any of the characters based on real people?
All my characters are based on people in my life. James of course is my son, Syvok has traits of my friend Kristin from Iceland, Matthias my friend’s son from Texas.
Matthias is my favorite character who is yours?
I love them all. They are created with people I love.  I do love Helga because when needed she breaks the rules.  I do like Matthias too.
Which of your books is your favorite or do you have a favorite?
Tomfoolery  is my favorite.  I do love the 4th book that is in the editing stage Amongst the Clouds.
Who is your favorite author?
 Anne McCaffrey.
Who inspires you the most they can be living or dead and they can be one or many?

People who have touched my life

What in your description is a Yule Lad?
A yule lad is friendly troll who likes to have fun.

How did you come up with this cute character?
Reading Icelandic folklore or sagas. Icelanders love to read and get together. They love to share their culture.  It is a magical relaxed place that loves children.
Do you engage in Tomfoolery, (I love that word!)
Will never Tomfoolery and tell.  I love the word too. Just saying it means fun. I do like to have fun.
I like the word whimsical too. I like to think that my books are Whimsical fantasy adventures.
You write such imaginative and awesome series, what can we look forward to? Will there be more adventures for James, Matthias , and Helga?
My 4th book Amongst the clouds will have Helga. Matthais is always in the books. Who else will keep James and Syvok out of harm’s way.
Which of these adventures would you live in if you could?
AmWho is your illustrator?
Jim Weidman was the illustrator for James Saves the Moon. I met after looking at a Sci-Fi Website. He did covers for the publisher. I clicked on his name and looked at his work. Then I took a chance and emailed him and he said yes. He retired after doing my book. My second illustrator Kelly Murray was recommended to me by her Dad. We worked on some local school events together. She graduated from local University Ferris State where he dad and my husband teach. I asked her to make me a cover and l like her work. She now does all my books. So glad the publisher, Anchor Group Publishing liked her work as well so I could keep working with her. She is getting better with every book.

On losing a friend

For Kori
Life is fleetingwe are but mere shells cocoons holding the bright and beautiful soul beneath the surface fluttering and stutteringfighting and biting until it breaks free shining and shimmeringglowing and gleaminglike a cascade of fireworks in amplified light as we fly to heaven to meet our Lord.
I lost a good friend today, in an instant one moment she would have been laughing and loving with her family. The next her spirit left her body. She was amazing and loved by so many people. She had a golden heart and an old soul. She was so special in so many ways. Life can be taken from us at any moment, not taken just called home to be with God.
I'm a woman of faith, I follow God with the innocence of a child. Sometimes people ask where is God in all the things that happen that are evil. Where is God in death? Why do bad people live while good ones are taken so soon. I can't answer that for you, it is not my place to answer that. Once I heard a sermon about a weaver making a tapestry. Their child sat on the floor beneath the weaver's feet looking up at the knots and snags that were woven into the pattern. They asked, "Why do you keep weaving that when it is so ugly?"
The weaver stopped and smiled thoughtfully at the child and called them to sit on her lap. The child was astonished when they saw the beautiful design that had been intricately woven into the fabric.

The weaver said, this is like God's plan for us. From here on Earth it is ugly, and seems pointless. Only when you get to heaven will you see the beautiful design created especially for you by God.

On The Release of my debut Book Broken Earth

I have gone through a thousand emotions this week ranging from heart wrenching terror to incredible happiness. Why? I released the first book of my Broken Earth series "Broken Earth." This is the culmination of a dream many years in the making. I've always loved to write and have written tons of fan fiction. This was my first foray into my own stuff, characters that are all me. It's been quite a journey for me to do this and change gears to do this. It's easy to write about 100 or so words but to write 40,000 words that's a whole other animal.
So it's with incredible pride and and joy that I release this book to you, my friends, my fans and my readers and give you my promise that you will see this awesome series come to fruition!
