Jingle My Bells
Number four in the Bayou Boys series, Jingle My Bells is Sean and Rusty’s Christmas story.
Sean hasn’t had many happy holidays. Going home to New Orleans isn’t going to make this one any different. But for Rusty, he’s going to fake it and by happy because Rusty loves holidays, especially Christmas with his family. And Sean loves Rusty. Rusty is determined to make this Christmas different for Sean.
Will this be the year Rusty jingles Sean’s bell?

By the way, this story is longer, richer and meatier than all three previous stories put together. Novella length, this book digs down deep. It is stand alone. You don’t have to read the other three first. But if you do, you’ll find plenty of Easter eggs. (My friend says I need to explain, even though I’m sure I don’t. But to make my friend feel better: Per Wikipedia, an Easter egg is an intentional inside joke, hidden message, or feature in a work such as a computer program, movie, book, or crossword.)

Jingle My Bells
I’m working, fast and furiously, on Sean and Rusty’s Christmas story. Yes, I know what day it is. I know it’s already December. But hey, it’s not Christmas yet, right?
Besides, this short novella is turning into a long novella. Maybe a short novel. And I promised myself that when writing about Sean and Rusty I’d let them dictate the story. No id- author-imposed rules. Total freedom for the ego-muse.
And it’s working. The story is there, good and solid and deep and meaningful ( I think–I hope. Not dwelling on that now, though.)
Soon. So, soon. I am so looking forward to letting Jingle My Bells make it’s world debut.
Off to write.

Review: Switch

Switch by Claire Thompson
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
This book kept coming up on my Goodreads friends’ favorites lists. The back book blurb was intriguing. The opening setup was attention-catching. Lots of inner conflict for the MC who was into the club scene.
Then—okay, I won’t say anything else except the conflict didn’t stay ratcheted that high after the 1/4 quarter of the book. The book hit all the marks for a complete story. No plot holes or hanging threads. Maybe I’m just a drama queen, but the revelations were life changing and I just couldn’t latch onto the emotional aspects of the transformation.

Review: Silent

Silent by Sara Alva
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Yup, Sara Alva is firmly on my auto-buy list.
Layers upon layers on upon subtle layers built a deeply thought-provoking and emotional story that I will think about for years to come. Without resorting to hyperbole or sensational story events, the strength and power of the MC Alex comes through strong, invisible writing.
This book illustrates touching, tender and deep love, both selfless love for a friend-turned-lover and self love in the perfect voice of teen aged boys.
Ms. Alva caught my attention with her debut novel, Social Skills, a story told simply, but teeming with emotion. She has followed up with a complex, full-bodied story with characters of great and real depth.
Fantastic novel, Ms. Alva. I’ve become and ardent fan.

Tricked Up for Treats
Whew! I slid under the bell with Sean and Rusty’s Halloween story, Tricked Up for Treats.
What’s it about?
In this 3rd story in the Bayou Boys series, Rusty Duchene signs up his fiancé, Sean Delahunt for a couples’ amateur drag competition sponsored by a local Cabaret Club. The prizes are awesome. But the real prize, the one Rusty is hoping they will win is the prize of letting Sean be himself, at least for just one night.
But the head game he’s playing with Sean comes with a high risk, a risk that Sean will fracture instead of become whole.
If the worst happens, will Rusty be strong enough to hold Sean together, to hold their relationship together, or will this be the end of their long term love?
Yup, it’s a short story, a quick read packed with emotion.

Bayou Boys series launches with 2 titles
Okay, it’s been a while since I updated here. Will try to do better–but I’ve been busy!! I’ve got TWO stories published within the last few days.
Meant To Be, my LHNB story, is available in all formats (except print) everywhere you buy ebooks. I’ve listed all the places below where you can find it. (Note that it is FREE wherever the distributor let me list it as free. I’m working on trying to get it to be free on Amazon and B&N. So far, no luck. If you want to help, go to the Amazon site, scroll down to Product Description and click the link that asks if you know of a lower price and then fill in the blanks. The more people who do this, the faster it will be free, I’ve been told.)

Review: Happy Endings

Happy Endings by Deanna Wadsworth
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
So much emotion packed so tightly into such a short format! Good job on evoking this reader’s empathy. Very touching. Great job of building the emotional AND physical bond of both characters. Especially well done showing the heart of the story through physical contact.
