Done, done and done! Now to start again….
So, this is it. Sean and Rusty’s story arc for their first year post-college is finished. For Better Or Worse was a hard one to write–not because the story didn’t flow, because it did. Thank you, muses! But because I didn’t want to say goodbye. (So I’m not going to. But you’ve got to read the book for that one.)
Buy Now:
Amazon
B&N
All Romance Ebooks
When Sean Loves Rusty is the collection for ALL the Sean and Rusty stories, including Meant To Be, Moving On, Tricked Up for Treats, Jingle My Bells and For Better Or Worse. It’s available both in paperback and digitally (at a deep discount right now.) Buy from Amazon , B&N , or All Romance Ebooks
So, Levi and Clint’s story is up next. Yes, it has a title: Down To the Studs.
The tagline is: When demolishing closets requires a sledge hammer made of love…
And the blurb is:
When general contract Levi Graham wins an interior makeover for his lake home, not only does decorator Clint Bordelon try to tempt Levi away from his garage sale style but also into an openly gay lifestyle. Clint’s personal style doesn’t include hidden closets.
While Levi can live without his beanbag chair, can Clint replace the love of family and friends Levi is sure he’ll lose when he comes out?
There’s an unedited excerpt in the back of When Sean Loves Rusty. (Unedited=this could change in the final edits.)
BUT before I finish Down To The Studs, I am taking a little side trip. It’s that time of the year when the Goodreads group, MMRomance has their writing challenge. This year, it’s called Love’s Landscape and I got the most awesome photo and letter prompt to write about. The photo is slightly NSFW, so you’ll have to go see it on my Pinterest page. You’ll find the letter prompt there, too. So far, this has been a fun, just slightly emo story that is still contemporary but very different from the Bayou Boys stories.
I’m going to do better with my newsletter, really I am. So be sure to sign up. (look to your right for the registration box.)

another Sean and Rusty story
the 5th story in Bayou Boys' Sean and Rusty story arc is now available on Amazon and All Romance Ebooks. And the collection of ALL the Sean and Rusty stories, When Sean Loves Rusty , is available, too, both digitally and in paperback. When Sean Loves Rusty includes: Meant To Be, Moving On, Tricked Up for Treats, Jingle My Bells and For Better Or Worse--and it's a huge price break over the singles.
I'm doing my very first blog tour with giveaway of a Taste of the Bayou Basket (full of food, not books). I'l post those links each day they come available.

Isn't this fantastic inspiration for a story? Can hardly wait to get started.

Review: Cinder: A CinderFella Story

Cinder: A CinderFella Story by Marie Sexton
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
This was a fun, quick read. About half-way through, I realized I’d read the first edition, which will probably tell you that this is one of those eye-candy kinds of stories. It was perfect for a quick Saturday afternoon read while I procrastinating house cleaning.

Review: Dale Dent’s Diary

Dale Dent’s Diary by Woody Miller
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
This story was great, light amusement with enough irony to give it substance. While shallow on the surface, this fictional diary had enough internal depth to anchor it. This mix not only made it a fast fun read, but left behind some common truths to ponder long after the book has been read.

Should Writers Review?
Should writers review other writers work?
I have no idea. I waiver:
No, for a multitude of reasons ie backlash because someone doesn’t like my opinion, to looking at the work too writerly instead of readerly, to no, just because–no.
or Yes, because I’m a reader, a passionate one and I LOVE a good book and want to celebrate it. Because, as a writer, I like feedback, like knowing that someone read what I wrote, and I think that maybe the author of the story I critique feels the same way.
Last year, I reviewed a lot on Goodreads. Then I put up my first Bayou Boys story for sale and stopped reviewing because a lot of people suggested that published authors shouldn’t review. Then I thought about it and decided that I didn’t give up my right to have an opinion about books or anything else when I became a published author because I’m still a human at the base of it all so therefore, I still have the right to have an opinion. Besides, I like books. I like thinking about books, analyzing books, and writing about books.
So, I gave in to what I want to do instead of what I sometimes think I should do (because that’s one of the freedoms I’ve learned since I started working on being me instead of my parents’ expectations for me–which is a WHOLE ‘nother {whiny} post that no one really wants to read.) So, I review.
But I cheat a bit. I don’t post reviews on stories I don’t like. That seems one-sided, doesn’t it? Fair would be the good with the bad. Yin with yang. One stars with 5 stars. But I’m making up the rules for my own reviewing ethics, so I can make that one up, too.
Am I screwing up? Heck if I know. But if I’ve made a bad decision (and really, in the bigger scope of things, is a book review really going to destroy the world?), at least I have satisfied that deep reader-driven part of me that wants to share a good read.
Review: Worth a Shot

Worth a Shot by Kim Dare
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
I wavered between wanting this book to be bigger and richer, to thinking that it was perfectly sized the way it was.
Kim Dare is good at the short story structure, making the important bits stand out while filling in the background with enough detail to create a fully rounded story.
While one MC was straight forward, the other was more complex. I wouldn’t have mind exploring that complexity a bit more, but, with what the author gave me about him, I got him. So maybe more development would have been overkill?
As with the other Kim Dare stories I’ve read, the D/s relationship was part of the makeup of the MCs. Nothing extraneous or for special effects. This alone makes this story better than average.
I’m always up for a good Kim Dare novella and this one reinforces my opinion.

Review: Worth Waiting For

Worth Waiting For by Kim Dare
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
There are not many authors who can make an obsessed teenage stalker grow into a sweet and gentle lover, but Kim Dare pulls it off. This story is short, but no less poignant for its brevity. What this reader found fascinating was determined, persistent strength of the younger MC in the face of the resistance of the older MC. Telling you about the D/s relationship might be too much of a spoiler. Let’s just say that ever facet of the characters dovetails with the other, even the weakness of the Dom that he overcomes with the steadfastness of the sub.
This is a nice quick read that will make your lazy Saturday afternoon even better.
