Teaser No. 2 and FIVE hardback copies up for grabs on Goodreads!
Dun, dun, duuuuuuuuuuuuuuun!!
FIVE AND A HALF WEEKS TILL SKYLIGHTER IS HERE!!
This is the point when authors start to have mini panic attacks about marketing, about their book being real, about upcoming book events, and launches, and what they’re going to wear, and…the list goes on, my friends.
One way you can help an author out is to (obviously) pre-order their books! I’ll leave this right here, if you’re so inclined to do that. And here’s the post about WHAT YOU GET WHEN YOU PRE-ORDER.
If you want to take your chances, and WIN one of five copies of SKYLIGHTER, you can use this little box of helpfulness below. And, when you add it to your To Be Read (TBR) shelf that helps authors out too!

Did you see the cover for WAITING FOR AUGUSTA?
A couple of years ago, my friend Jessica Lawson asked me to look at a story she was working on. It was just a sketch, a few rough chapters, but it had the sort of voice that reached off the page and grabbed you. I’m so pleased that Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers agreed with me, and now those chapters are a full book!
It’s called WAITING FOR AUGUSTA, and it’s something we can all relate to…whether we’re nine or ninety. It’s the story of Ben, who is trying so hard to find a connection with his dead father — a connection they really struggled to maintain while his father was alive.
The full jacket and a giveaway are up on YABC. You should head there and check it out!
But I’ve got a shot of the darling cover and the synopsis here too!
Eleven-year-old Benjamin Putter has a lump in his throat, and he’s certain it’s a golf ball.
It sounds crazy, he knows. But everything’s been topsy-turvy since his father died last month.
Then one day something starts tugging at Ben, telling him to hurry to Augusta, Georgia—home of the most famous golf course in the world.
Ben might be going loony, but escaping Hilltop, Alabama sounds like a darn good idea. (And just maybe it will make that lump go away.) As he makes his way to Augusta, Ben partners up with a myserious runaway named Noni, and they embark on a journey with surprises—and possibly magic—at every turn.
So add it to your TBR shelves. It’ll be out May 10, 2016.

SWEET MADNESS is here!
I’ve known Trisha Leaver and Lindsay Currie for almost five years. They are both really wonderful woman and great moms….and yet, they write some of the scariest stuff in YA. I read an early version of SWEET MADNESS, and had to leave the lights on. And it’s out for everyone to read now!
Sweet Madness is a retelling of the infamous Borden Murders told from the POV of Lizzie’s Irish maid, Bridget Sullivan.
Seventeen-year-old Bridget Sullivan is alone in Fall River, a city that sees Irish immigrants as nothing more than a drunken drain on society. To make matters worse, she’s taken employment with the city’s most peculiar and gossip-laden family—the Bordens. But Bridget can’t afford to be picky—the pay surpasses any other job Bridget could ever secure and she desperately needs the money to buy her little sister, Cara, passage to the states. It doesn’t hurt that the job location is also close to her beau, Liam. As she enters the disturbing inner workings of the Borden household, Bridget clings to these advantages.
However, what seemed like a straightforward situation soon turns into one that is untenable. Of course Bridget has heard the gossip around town about the Bordens, but what she encounters is far more unsettling. The erratic, paranoid behavior of Mr. Borden, the fearful silence of his wife, and worse still…the nightly whisperings Bridget hears that seem to come from the walls themselves.
When Bridget makes a horrifying discovery in the home, all that she thought she knew about the Bordens is called into question…including if Lizzie is dangerous. And the choice she must make about Lizzie’s character could mean Bridget’s life or death.

Guess what I’m holding?!? Cover proofs for THE SKYLIGHTER!!
Okay….wow. I was totally not anticipating this! The front of THE SKYLIGHTER cover has that cool Northern Lights thing going on, but check this out:
Instead of using a plain backdrop, they put the blurbs (which are *squee* totally awesome) over a photo of Rafi’s torso! I LOVE the blue accent color they used for the authors’ and reviewers’ names and titles.
Here’s what it looks like all laid out:
The pictures and the jpgs I posted earlier do not do it justice. It’s beautiful wrapped around a book in a way I didn’t expect until I held it in my hands. Many thanks to the crew at Simon & Schuster/Margaret McElderry for their fabulous work!

Oh, hey! Book 2 has a summary!
I love checking on Goodreads and finding that the summary for THE SKYLIGHTER (yep, folks. That’s the title to book 2) has been released! Exciting, exciting news!
And here’s the goodness we’ve all been waiting for:
Johanna and Rafi are in a race against time to save their country before a power-mad Keeper destroys everything they hold dear in the “enthralling magical world” (Cinda Williams Chima, author of The Heir Chronicles) introduced in The Storyspinner.
As the last of the royal line, Johanna is the only person who can heal a magical breach in the wall that separates her kingdom of Santarem from the land of the Keepers, legendary men and women who wield elemental magic. The barrier protects Santarem from those Keepers who might try to take power over mere humans…Keepers who are determined to stop Johanna and seize the wall’s power for themselves.
And they’re not the only ones. As the duchys of Santarem descend into war over the throne, Johanna relies more than ever on the advice of her handsome companion, Lord Rafael DeSilva. But Rafi is a duke too, and his people come first. As their friendship progresses into the beginnings of a tender relationship, Johanna must wonder: is Rafi looking out for her happiness, or does he want the throne for himself?
With war on the horizon, Johanna and Rafi dodge treacherous dukes and Keeper assassins as they race to through the countryside, determined to strengthen the wall before it’s too late…even if it means sacrificing their happiness for the sake of their world.
Here’s what that summary doesn’t say is:
Stuff blows up. Lots of stuff. That might be my favorite part.
Some folks make up and make out. (Yay! And, if we’re being honest, that’s my favorite part).
You get to hang out with my favorite character(s).
Folks’ hearts get broken. Some of those hearts get fixed. Some definitely do not. Sad face.
So how does that sound? I’m super excited for y’all to read the rest of Rafi and Jo’s (and Pira and Leao and Jacaré and Vibora and Dom’s story). You can add it to your Goodreads shelves now, or pre-order it at Amazon. That way you’ll be certain to get a copy on March 22, 2016!!
Also, it looks like this. In case you haven’t seen it.

WIN a small group set of The Storyspinner for your classroom or library
Some of you may know that my parents are school teachers, and my mom has been a literacy coach forever. I’m aware that every classroom needs books to be used for small groups, RTI, independent reading, and in-class libraries. I’d like to provide six copies of The Storyspinner to four teachers or librarians to have for their schools or classrooms.
Entering is simple:
Email me a brief paragraph on how you would use The Storyspinner in your classroom or library before July 15, 2015. I’ll post all of the entries on my blog on July 16.
Encourage your friends and coworkers to vote for your entry in the blog post’s comments. Each entry will be tagged with your name/school.
The winners will be announced on August 1, 2015, and your books will be sent out by the August 5.
All entries should be sent to becky (at) beckwallacebooks (dot) com by midnight on July 15. This contest is open to US addresses only.
In case you’re wondering why you might want The Storyspinner, here’s what some reputable folks have to say:
“This first installment of The Keepers’ Chronicles is as engaging as fantasy gets, full of magic and romance, intrigue and espionage, epic battles and heartbreaking loss. The quicker the second book comes out, the better. This is definitely recommended for public and high school libraries.” – VOYA
“In this beautifully constructed first installment of a new fantasy series, Wallace creates a lush environment, interweaving unique characters. Recommended for fans of classic fantasy (J.R.R. Tolkien) as well as more modern fantasy adventures by Melina Marchetta, Kristin Cashore, and Sarah J. Maas.” – School Library Journal
Each book will be personalized and autographed, and I’ll also send bookmarks for your entire class.
Thanks for entering!

VERY last chance to get a map for THE STORYSPINNER!
Hey now, pretty thang! This map, you guys, I love it!! Even though I have a giant version (that I haven’t yet hung on my wall), it’s always exciting to look at this copy and see all the details…the little boats, the walled city of Camaçari (BOOK 2!!), the tents at Performers’ Camp…it’s pretty darn awesome. Jemma Young did such an incredible job giving readers a sense of what Santarem looks like!
I just ordered a few more bookplate maps because some people missed out on the original giveaway. If you want one, all you have to do is email me proof of purchase (picture of yourself with the book, screenshot of the receipt, whatever), and your mailing address, and I’ll mail you a map AND a bookmark AND a postcard. You can use the contact form here or email me at becky (at) beckywallacebooks (dot) com.
Deadline is July 15, and yes, it is open to international addresses! Hard copy or e-copy is totally acceptable.
I really, really, really, don’t have very many. So this is definitely first come, first served.
Thanks!!
