Salute to the Sun - A Chaos Station story

Salute to the Sun
A Chaos Station story
For Felix, finding peace has always been about staying in motion—about running faster than his demons, and enjoying a small reprieve before they catch up. For Zed, peace is finding the center of the storm and sitting it out. Embracing stillness. Felix wants that. He’s determined to learn this meditation trick. He’d like to stop running. But sitting still isn’t as simple as it looks.
“Salute to the Sun” is set shortly after Skip Trace. I actually wrote it before we finished writing Skip Trace, as a Christmas gift for Jenn. In preparing to share it with our newsletter subscribers, I had to go back and edit in a few details such as nipple rings for Zed and mention their much needed therapy sessions!
I hope you enjoy this extra little episode with the guys.

When Was the Last Time is here!

Every new book release comes with a certain amount of excitement (and anxiety and exhaustion), but I've been really looking forward to the day When Was the Last Time came out because I loved writing this story. Not everything is easy to write and perhaps the fact this one poured out of me in a matter of days means I really had to get something off my chest, but I think when you're emotionally involved in your characters it shows. I've been married for nearly sixteen years. I might not be experiencing the same relationship hiccups as Paul and Evan, but I know all about getting comfortable, or falling into a routine that serves.
I also know what it feels like to look over at the man I chose over fifteen years ago and feel aglow with excitement that he's still the one. To remember why we're married and why our love continues to grow and strengthen. So, while When Was the Last Time might seem to be a story about a couple who's in trouble, really, it's a story about a couple who are very much in love, but have forgotten why. It's also about commitment and enduring love. What could be more appropriate for a Valentine's Day story?
I hope everyone enjoys reading it as much as I liked writing it. :)
I do have a few things planned for release week, which extends Friday to Friday, this time 'round. Visit my blog for all the details!

INVERSION POINT is here!

INVERSION POINT is the fourth book in the Chaos Station series. Though I am beyond excited about this release--this is my favourite book in the series, the one I didn't fret over after the final round--it's release also heralds the beginning of the end. This morning PHASE SHIFT, the final book in this series, will make it's way to production. We're done.
The good news is that there are these two full adventures left to read, and from the advance reviews posted for INVERSION POINT, readers agree with me on this being the best book yet. I'm going to share a couple of quotes here, because they're the sort every author loves to see. :D
"Inversion Point is arguably the strongest entry yet in the Chaos Station series..."
"This is probably my favorite installment in the series."
"Just as fresh and exciting as the first book, with a pulse pounding plot and a satisfying conclusion."
"I am beyond pleased with this installment in the series."
You can read the cover copy and first chapter of INVERSION POINT at our website!
Blog Tour and Giveaway
To celebrate the release of INVERSION POINT, Jenn and I are doing a week-long blog tour. This means excerpts, guest posts, a character interview (where we had to beg Felix to say something other than "no comment") and a giveaway!
Tour
Today, I share Felix's Playlist at Straight Shootin’ Book Reviews. Scroll past Maria's lovely review to check out the music that moves our prickly engineer! We've also got an exclusive excerpt up at Queer Sci Fi. On Tuesday, I talk a little bit about what Zed is up against in INVERSION POINT, in his relationship with Felix, the expectations of the galaxy and his habit of being a hero--at any cost! Visit Purple Rose Teahouse to read all about it.
Jenn shares Zed's playlist at Joyfully Jay on Wednesday, and talks about characters and how she creates them on Thursday at Smitten with Reading.
On Friday, we've got another exclusive excerpt at Prism Book Alliance and a character interview at The Novel Approach. For another excerpt (and mini-interview with us), check out the Friday Favourites post at Ellie Reads.

Chaos Station earns an Honorable Mention!
"This was an amazing book. I don't even like sci-fi all that much and within a few chapters I was thoroughly hooked. The writing was polished, the characters believable and enjoyable, the plot crisply paced. I don't have enough good words to say about this novel."
"Two lonely soles reunited in space. Original settings will give gift the reader with the galactic romance that survived separation by time and warzones."
As the Honorable Mentions continue to roll out, we're in good company too. There are so many great books entered this year. Final winners will be announced on December 8th.
Elisa and her team of volunteers have a lot of work ahead! So thanks to them and good luck to all. :)

This is the Future, Baby
It’s the year 2100, and the Mojave has reclaimed the Las Vegas valley. But, with a little hop back in time, you can still visit all the landmarks we’ve lost, including Sin City. Kale and Toby choose Vegas 2015 for their Destination Wedding, and it’s all it was promised to be. But the trip isn’t making the sort of memories Kale wants to associate with the most important day of his life.
Thanks to Charley Descoteaux for hosting my story. You can read it here now.
