Actually, it’s not entirely new. Zed and Felix have their happy ever after and we don’t want to mess with that. If we ever do revisit the world of Chaos Station, it will be with a different story with a new couple. Yes, we have plans! For now, however, we’ve been busy putting together a piece of Chaos Station for collector’s bookshelves.

Always and Forever is a print edition of all the short stories we wrote alongside the Chaos Station series, and we want to give away a copy each to two of our wonderful readers! What do you need to do to enter our giveaway? All of our newsletter subscribers are entered automatically.

For more entries, help us share the news using the links provided in our current newsletter. Record your entries using our rafflecopter!

Best in Show

BEST IN SHOW is here!
ShowBanner

After writing Felix Ingesson for the Chaos Station series, I’ve found myself reluctant to go to dark places with my characters. It’s not that I’ve lost my Evil Author (TM) badge, or run out of ideas for how to torture my guys. More, I want to explore the lighter side for a while – and that’s definitely what happens in Best in Show. It’s a paranormal tale, but there is no shuffling among the egos of a pack, midnight neck-chewing or fated mates who can never be together. There is a curse, though! And some magic, and a mystery. And two really sweet guys who are both stuck in place – each needing a gentle nudge from fate in order to find something and someone they can care for.

Available Now: Counting Fence Posts

Counting Fence Posts is here!
banner
I've passed the ten book mark, therefore I should no longer be anxious about new releases. Right? Wrong.

Every new book represents another little piece of me out there in the world, and each of my books carries a story I care about and characters I love and want the best for. My greatest hope is that my readers will care just as much, that reading each of my stories will leave them feeling satisfied and hopefully happy they stumbled into one of my worlds. That my characters will be the ones they remember.

Read the rest of this post on my blog, where you'll also find links to my giveaway and tour!

We've sent Zed and Felix on a honeymoon!

Zander Anatolius and Felix Ingesson are two of the hardest working men in the galaxy. They really need a break. So, we’ve sent them on a honeymoon—and managed to do so without bringing them to further harm.

honeymoonfeature

(Readers of the Chaos Station series are likely breathing a huge sigh of relief here, as they’re more used to people dying. Or at the very least losing limbs. This holiday has been a long time coming.)

We didn’t just write this story for the Zed and Felix, though. We wrote it for our readers, the fans who have followed the adventures of Zed and Felix from the very start. For those who have mourned their losses, and cheered their successes. For all the folks who sent us little messages saying: “I cannot believe you did that!” Or: “Hasn’t Zed been through enough?” Or, popularly: “OMG, Felix!”

In particular, I wrote my part of this story for Eileen Griffin who finished every book with the plea: “Zed and Felix, deserted island, one week. All sex, all the time.”

Felix doesn’t do planets, so we put the guys on a cruise ship instead.

Jenn and I also wrote this one for ourselves. We’d said goodbye to Zed and Felix with the last edit round of Phase Shift (Chaos Station #5), and it was hard to let go. Many of our blog posts for the release of Phase Shift reflected on how hard it was to say goodbye to characters we’d given life to through five novels and a small collection of short stories. So “Honeymoon” is our last hurrah—a chance for us to just play with the guys, our dear fictional friends; to enjoy their love and everlasting happiness; to share their last adventure with our readers.

Coming Soon!

I have two titles releasing in July, both from Dreamspinner Press. The first is Counting Fence Posts, a contemporary romance featuring two guys who are forced off the road during a blizzard. Trapped together in a rental car, they begin to talk and soon discover that the undercurrent of tension between them isn’t really hostile. More, it stems from layers of misconception, and given the chance to talk… Well, first they quarrel. Then they talk some more. As the snow surrounding the car deepens, so does their conversation, and they figure out that the tension between them is really a mutual attraction.

Best in Show is the second title I have releasing in July! This story is one of my favourite things I’ve written. It’s cute and funny and has a little mystery wrapped around a sweet love story. Or the beginning of a love story. I have more adventures planned for Julian and Mac! It’s also the first time I’ve written paranormal and I had a lot of fun with Mac both as a house cat and as the sweet human being he is in between times.

Therapy

It’s been a month since the release of Phase Shift. We miss our guys, but we’re working on new stories with new characters we hope you’ll come to love just as much as Zander, Felix and the Chaos crew.

In the meantime, enjoy this cut scene and a sneak peek at the cover of our last Chaos Station short, “Honeymoon”.

Therapy

If you thought the guys were in desperate need of therapy by the end of Skip Trace, you’re weren’t alone!

Skip Trace (Chaos Station #3) was probably the most heavily edited of the five books. We had to rearrange a few things and cut a few scenes we really loved. One of the cut scenes was a therapy session with Zander, Felix and Dr. McMann – who gets several mentions in the later books!

While we understood therapy would be an important element in the journey of both men, the following scene slowed the pace of the ending too much, so we ended up taking some of the relevant parts out (such as how Felix broke his hand) and using them in other scenes. As a whole, this scene remains one of our favourites, however, and we like to imagine this session did actually happen as written, shortly after the events of Skip Trace.

Read “Therapy” here

Honeymoon

Zander and Felix deserve a break! Downtime is difficult for these former soldiers; no doubt they’ll find an adventure or two aboard the drift cruiser Biswas. There will be no severed limbs, near death experiences or kidnappings in this story! But this is Zed and Flick, so not everything is going to go exactly as planned.

Coming at the end of June!

Flash Fiction

On my travels around the internet I often stumble across photographs that tell a story. Sometimes it’s a single moment, one I can capture in a few hundred words. More often I’m really only telling part of the story–what brought the character(s) to this point, or what’s happening right now. These snippets end up in my Big Book of Ideas, and one day I hope to expand on a few of them. The others, the single moments, stand as they are.

Here, I’m sharing one of each. A story I feel is a complete moment, and one that is a slice of something much bigger. There’s more story to both, of course, but in the first case, I believe the moment I’ve captured–or more accurately, remembered on behalf of my narrator–tells more than everything that might have come before.

PHASE SHIFT releases today!

This is it, the final book in the Chaos Station series. In some respects, I can't believe it's been just over a year since the release of Chaos Station. In others, it feels as if I've been living and breathing Felix and Zander for half my life. (If we examine the number of hours Jenn and I spent writing, revising, rewriting, editing and reading these books, it's pretty damn close. :) ) As a reader, I'm always sad to leave a world I've loved behind. As a writer, I'm stepping aside with more mixed feelings. I love these guys, I love the crew of the Chaos. I'd love to write them forever. But I'm a strong believer in Happy Ever Afters, and I truly think Felix and Zander deserve theirs. It's time for Jenn and me to step back and let them live out the rest of their lives undisturbed by us.

(We do have ideas for a spin off series, however!)

What's next for us? We're currently working on two projects, one a series of loosely connected contemporaries that tell sweet love stories. The other is a new world, one we're calling 'light paranormal'. We're really excited about both projects and will talk more about them as we finish writing and find a home for both series.

In the meantime, enjoy this last adventure with Zed and Flick - and don't be shy. Tell us what you loved, what you'd like to see more of. Remind us we need to give these guys a honeymoon - and that when we do, it should be a sweet and sappy story with no weapons, hackers, criminal cartels and psychotic scientists.

To follow our tour, visit my blog for a schedule and links. We'll be sharing three exclusive excerpts, trivia about the crew, our thoughts on series, love stories and why we love science fiction so much and, of course, there is a giveaway!
