Coworker: What are you reading?

Me: Short stories written by up-and-coming authors based in established fictional universes.

Coworker: oh cool! What is this one about?

Me: The durability of walls and other surfaces when applied with the stress of two bodies

“Do you like that show?”

“I certainly enjoy the self indulgent version of it I wrote in my head after it began to disappoint me.”

some months ago I had posted some silly pictures of scratch cards and tagged the post with “I want Freyja’s cat chariot to be a thing in the comics”, and lo! it is a thing in the comics! (if it has previously appeared, I’m not aware of it and would love to know!)
art from Angela: Asgard’s Assassin #6 by Stephanie Hans.

I am fascinated to know what Clint Barton thinks of Stanislavsky.

[From Secret Avengers #6, 2014.]

Sam, I don’t think I can live in a world where Clint Barton has an understanding of Stanislavksi. I woke up this morning and everything made sense. Now? Now Clint has apparently read An Actor Prepares.

Maybe he dated an actress? Like.

Clint: Why are you still wearing a toga?
Girlfriend: I’m in Julius Caesar.
Clint: Yes, but…not right at this very moment.
Girlfriend: I try to stay in character.
Clint: In character.
Girlfriend: Like Daniel Day Lewis! Or Stanislavsky.

I am so tired of the current (and past) Clint Barton is a dumbass thing. Clint may not be Tony and Bruce level brains, but the boy isn’t stupid. He canonically reads and knows theatre, he’s clearly a vector whiz because World’s Greatest Marksman. He’s kind of crap at interpersonal relationships and he’s not the best at common sense, but may I introduce you to Tony Stark and Hank Pym and Reed Richards and Steve Rogers? The Avengers as a team are nearly universally crap at making good choices off the battlefield. Clint is not actually the butt of every joke, he’s a great character in his own right, and it pisses me off to watch fandom constantly put him down and make him the lowest common denominator.

As someone who frequently acts dumb to avoid responsibility, I can say it’s a talent in and off itself.

Every word I spoke to you -every gesture- was hers.
Imagine each word from your lips ringing in her ears
You caused her death. You are why she is damned.
