I have told my housemates that I can’t bake. Today I tried to make banana bread and somehow put in THREE TIMES the amount of baking soda the recipe called for. I ask Marguerite is she can taste the same burning, bitter, vaguely stinging flavor of backing soda in the finished bread.
She takes a bite. Looks physically pained for a moment, swallows, and then says, “No. It’s good.”
The liar.
True friendship right there.
Follow up. Cameron tried it. “That sure is bread. Has many of the characteristics.”
