rocky horror is the worst and is also transmisogynistic can we please finally get over this shit movie

ok but like the writer is transgender nonbinary and the language used in the play was the preferred language by trans people of that time can we not deny parts of our history because we’ve evolved since then thanks

^^^^^

It’s an old musical that has brought joy to countless queer people and brought them together! Let’s keep our super political correct BS in check, please :B

Language evolves. So, hopefully, do people.

“HOLY-CRAP!  I LOVE IT!!!”

Oliver Queen giving a special gift to Harley Quinn (or possibly Harley GREEN, or Harley QUEEN)

This was a REALLY fun drawing to do.  I love the idea of these two together.  Their little stint in the Injustice comic was my favorite part.

Health Concerns for Bi Women

nonmono-perspective:

pillvisual:

nonmono-perspective:

Some things to consider/talk about for Bisexual Health Awareness Month:

Forty-five percent of bisexual women have considered or attempted suicide.
Bisexual women are twice as likely to have an eating disorder than lesbians.
Bisexual women have the lowest levels of social support.
Bisexual women have the highest rates of depression and anxiety.
Bisexual women report the highest rates of alcohol use, heavy drinking and alcohol related problems when compared to heterosexual and lesbian women.
Bisexual women report higher risk sexual behavior than heterosexual women. Compared to heterosexual women and lesbians, bisexual women have the highest rates of combining substance/alcohol use and sex, which can be associated with higher risk sexual behaviors.

Sources: Brown University, Pink News, Huffington Post

do any of y’all have any theories as to why this would be true?? im not doubting validity, i just think this is wild & im a little mystified

A lot of it is likely due to minority stress, which can affect any stigmatized group. But with bisexual women it is incredibly high. In addition, many bi women are also trans and/or women of color, so that just adds more minority stress.

Bi people have continually reported difficulties accessing mental health care (and healthcare in general). There are a lot of factors at play there (class, location, etc.) but there’s also the consistent theme of bi people going to “gay friendly” therapists and being told that their bisexuality is somehow a part of their mental health issues, being pushed by therapists to discuss their “sexuality issues” even if they don’t feel they have any, and just generally having their identities dismissed or pathologized. There was a study done about that as well.

That’s not to say that all of these women’s depression, anxiety, eating disorders, and substance abuse is inherently due to minority stress. There are genetic components as well as environmental components. But if you’re genetically predisposed to something like alcoholism (or depression, or anxiety, etc.), and then you come out as bisexual and find that the world reacts extremely negatively to that (except in situations where you can be sexualized for it), and then try to get help for your mental health, and even medical professionals are reacting negatively to your orientation, that’s probably going to impede your progress and increase your feelings of hopelessness.
