USA Gymnastics Directors Resigns

What about the Karolyis? Because I’d love to see them have a spotlight on their abuse as well. Oh well, I guess we can settle for the USA Gymnastics board of directors. For now.

The remaining directors of USA Gymnastics will resign following revelations that the former national team doctor sexually abused female athletes, complying with a demand from the U.S. Olympic Committee, a spokeswoman for gymnastics group said on Friday.

The doctor, Larry Nassar, was handed an effective life prison sentence this week, following days of emotional statements by gymnasts, including Olympic medalists Aly Raisman and Simone Biles.

The USOC had threatened to strip the group of its power to run its sport if the remaining 16 directors did not resign by Wednesday. Five have already resigned as a result of the scandal.

“USA Gymnastics will comply with the USOC requirements,” Leslie King, a spokeswoman for USA Gymnastics, said in an e-mail on Friday.

The U.S. House of Representatives, the U.S. Senate and the U.S. Department of Education on Thursday and Friday joined the USOC in opening broad investigations into possible sex abuse in sports.

Those investigations seek to establish if other sports officials turned a blind eye to doctor Nassar’s abuses and to examine allegations of harassment by officials in other sports, including swimming and taekwondo.

Raisman vowed to keep the pressure on sports organizations, to see who else knew about Nassar’s abuse. He worked for the federation through four Olympic Games, but the allegations did not come to light until 2016.

“Everyone stood up for him,” Raisman said in an interview with ABC’s “The View.” “My work, and the army of survivors, we’re not done yet. We still have to hold these organizations accountable.”

None of the remaining listed directors were immediately available for comment.

Investigators from the U.S. House of Representatives sent letters to the USOC, USA Gymnastics, USA Swimming, USA Taekwondo and Michigan State University, where Nassar also worked, asking questions about sexual abuse. U.S. Senators also announced an investigation earlier this week.

“My heart breaks for the survivors of Larry Nassar’s disgusting crimes,” said U.S. Education Secretary Betsy DeVos, whose department will also investigate Michigan State University. “What happened at Michigan State is abhorrent. It cannot ever happen again.”

The school’s sports director, Mark Hollis, retired on Friday, two days after university President Lou Anna Simon stepped down.

Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette, whose office prosecuted Nassar, confirmed on Friday on Twitter that his office is investigating Michigan State University.

The USOC’s own investigation into how Nassar was able to abuse victims for years will include looking at whether any USOC officials themselves turned a blind eye to his actions.

Nassar, 54, was sentenced to up to 175 years in prison by a Michigan state judge on Wednesday for carrying out the attacks on young girls under the guise of medical treatment. More than 150 accusers recounted their stories in the courtroom.

USOC Chief Executive Officer Scott Blackmun called on Thursday for the resignation of all current members board of USA Gymnastics and outlined six steps that the organization must take to achieve governance reform.

“While the USOC encourages USAG to think and act broadly on reforming its culture, we also believe that reform must start with an entirely new board,” Blackmun wrote in a letter to USA Gymnastics’ board.

USA Gymnastics said in a statement that it “completely embraces” the requirements laid out by Blackmun.

The scandal could take a financial toll on the sports federation for years, sponsorship executives said. The group already stands to lose millions of dollars in revenue through the 2020 Olympic Games, as sponsors back away the executives said.

In Washington on Friday, the U.S. House Energy and Commerce Committee, in announcing its investigation, said sports organizations “must have mechanisms in place to ensure complete oversight and prevent such abuses from occurring.”

The panel asked Michigan State to disclose if it is aware of any other abuse allegations involving other faculty members.

The U.S. House next week will vote on a bill approved by the Senate in November to require amateur athletics governing bodies to report sex-abuse allegations immediately to law enforcement or a child welfare agency.

The bill makes clear that aspiring Olympic athletes can report allegations of abuse and ensures all national governing bodies follow the strictest standards for child abuse prevention.

As a former gymnast, I don’t find this case at all surprising. It only started coming out in the early very late 90s and early 2000s that Dominique Moceanu suffered abuse at the hands of Bela Karolyi and was worked to the point of physical injury and exhaustion, although never sexual abuse like these cases. Moceanu’s claims were deemed by USA Gymnastics as the whining of a young girl who was given everything.

I know the kind of control coaches have over their gymnasts. And the fear they can feel that all their hard work will go down the drain if they show any weakness what-so-ever.

I only hope that the new board will take the gymnast into account over their coach. But knowing the sport, that may be unlikely. Especially with the Karolyis still in charge.

Larry Nassar was permitted to be alone with these gymnastics (who were minors) in their hotel rooms. RED FLAG! Last I checked, a male doctor in the USA can’t even do a gyno check up without a female nurse present. But I guess USA gymnastics directors thought better of themselves.

Morgan Freeman Goes Full SJW

The man who once told Americans that they needed to “stop talking about” racial identity, now claims that gender identity of a statue is potentially problematic. Oh, how the mighty have fallen.

Morgan Freeman left the SAG Awards audience on its feet on Sunday after delivering a short speech that touched on Hollywood’s gender inequality debate while accepting the guild’s life achievement award.

“I wasn’t going to do this; I’m going to tell you what’s wrong with this statue,” he said. “It works from the back, but from the front, it’s gender specific. Maybe I started something.”

After getting a standing ovation, Freeman took the stage and said, “This is beyond honor, this is a place in history.”

He thanked SAG-AFTRA, his children, his business partner, his life partner, and Rita Moreno, who presented Freeman the honor — returning the favor after he gave her the award in 2014. She said the two have known each other for 50 years, having first worked together on the 1971 educational children’s series “The Electric Company.”

“Morgan is way more than just an actor, narrator, producer, humanitarian. This man is a national treasure,” she said.

“Morgan likes to say that if you become a star, people are going to go see you. And if you remain an actor, they’re going to go and see the story you’re in,” she added.

“I know you’re just saying this ’cause it’s true,” Morgan teased when he took the stage.

“You have no idea how long I had to put up with that,” he later joked when Moreno told him to raise his baseball cap.

“These moments in one’s life usually would call for an entire litany of thank yous. I can’t do that because I don’t know all of your names, so I won’t try,” he said.

The 80-year-old film legend, who has a Screen Actors Guild Award, two Golden Globes, and an Oscar under his belt, finally broke into the film industry at the age of 50.

He told Variety that he once thought, “your mouth has shut your career down,” after losing role after role for being outspoken about how African-Americans and other minorities were depicted in the scripts he was reading.

“I want to change people’s attitudes. About black people, about us as Americans. About America itself,” he told Variety.

Freeman is the 54th recipient of the SAG life achievement prize, awarded to an actor annually for career achievement and humanitarian accomplishment.

Last year’s life achievement award honoree, Lily Tomlin, also made headlines with her speech, as well as comments she made backstage that likened the then-recently-inaugurated president’s political tactics to those of Nazis.

This well respected actor who has even played God in films joins the likes of SJWs such as Jessica Chastain and Natalie Portman, who couldn’t keep their leftie mouths shut at the recent Golden Globes when complaining about people of color being represented along with the lack of female directors being nominated, even though the pickings of female directors were slim among the previous year’s award level caliber of films. But don’t let that stop you from seeing reason and logic, ladies.

It appears as though Freeman has joined ranks in complaining about gender and the supposed dominance of men in Hollywood. The SJWs virus knows no bounds.

Celebrities Leave Sanity Behind

I do enjoy an occasional Mark Dice video. He puts himself out there and gives some comic relief when it comes to the left. Particularly when Oprah claims older white people(although it wasn’t explicitly said we know what she meant) have to die due to their prejudice and racism.

If Oprah does run for president, I hope this becomes the meme that rules the Internet.

Now if only Mark Dice would realize that it IS a war against whites. Not just some crazed liberals talking about silly identity politics. I guess there’s still time.
