Looking back on April…
Another month gone by! Let’s see what I accomplished…
April saw the release of Echo (Forgotten Monsters #4) and Forgotten Monsters: The Lost and Found Collection, a bundle of the 4 books in the series. The bundle wasn’t planned (it sounds like I’m taking about a baby, LOL!), but since Echo got released early thanks to my excitement over finishing a series, I had some time on my hands to put together a cover and get the formatting done. So, bonus release for the year! YAY!
April was also a Camp NaNo month. My overall goal for the month was to complete Cursed Heart, the final book in the Grimwood series. Spoiler: I totally did that. Then, while formatting No Reservations (Wicked Pride #1) for preorder, my muse whacked me upside the head and demanded I write a 3rd book in that series. SO I DID. *buffs nails* And then I finished book 3 and started on the 4th. I’m feeling a little pleased with myself right now.
I’m still toying with release dates for the last half of the year. Regardless, you will see the last 2 Grimwood books plus books 3 & 4 in the Wicked Pride series sometime soon. I’m just not sure what order they’ll be released yet.
Here’s to a productive May!

What I’m (re)reading
I’m a BIG rereader. I LOVE jumping back into series I’ve enjoyed before and getting to experience the ups and downs all over again.
So what sort of books beg me to come back and dive into them again? Well, let me tell you…
I finished a reread of Stacy Gail‘s House of Payne series not too long ago. Stacy has this incredible ability to make me want to dive back into her older books WHENEVER I read something new by her. She’s crazy talented and her character will absolutely slay you.
House of Payne is (currently) sitting at 5 books plus a 2 book spin-off for a character who got introduced in book 4. It sounds complicated, but it’s not. I swear. Rumor has it there are a few more books scheduled in the HoP series and I have some insider knowledge on a new spin-off coming at some point. Don’t disappoint me on that, Gail! I’m looking forward to seeing more dangerous shenanigans and hot lovin’!
I’m currently in the middle of a reread of Shelly Laurenston’s Pride series. OMG. SO FUN. Seriously, those crazy shifters are INSANE and I love them for it. I’ve hit around the halfway point in this reread and I’m already mourning that I’ll soon be out of books. (Of course, I can always go back for another reread, but LET ME HAVE MY MOMENT!)
There you have it. That’s what I’ve been rereading lately!

Preorders and Cover Love!
WHEW! So, I have THINGS that have been happening. Like putting up preorders and sprucing up covers on an older series. (If you subscribe to my newsletter, you’ve already seen this, but if you don’t…well, why don’t you? C’MON! You know you wanna!)
First off, HUGE HUGE HUGE cover redesign for the Monstrous Tales series. Yeah, this has been in the planning stages for a while and I finally had time to sit down and get fourteen new covers done. Wanna see them?
I had a pretty specific idea for how I wanted the new covers to look and this nailed it! Color and sparkly bubbles and ARI! YESSSSS!
Thing number two are a couple of preorders sitting pretty as they wait for their special day.
The Forgotten Monsters bundle will be out in about a week and has a preorder price of $2.99…

Cami Patterson has the worst luck with men. Everyone in her pride knows it and they steer clear of her so they don't end up with a broken bone or two or, even worse, dead. Needless to say, when her best friend sets her up on a blind date with a werewolf visiting from out of town, she doesn't expect anything to come of it.
She certainly doesn't expect a night of non-stop excitement including thwarting a robbery, getting chased by the police, and almost causing an international incident. Who has time to enjoy themselves with all that going on? Or of hooking up with her sex-on-a-stick date?
Cami just might have met her match in the wolf who laughs in the face of danger and doesn't hesitate to jump in when there's a damsel in distress. Who knew it would take a wolf to brave this cat's run of bad relationships?
Right now, the Wicked Pride series is sitting at two completed books (book 2 will be coming out in June) with a third in progress. I’m tentatively planning a fourth, but that one’s still in the planning stages and subject to whims of my muse.
As far as preorders go, one of MY personal goals this quarter is to be better about announcing when preorders go up so my longtime readers have the chance to grab books at the lowest price possible. I’m pretty good about letting people know on my Facebook page, but I always seem to forget about sending out a newsletter or throwing up a blog post. Yeah, I have no answer as to why, but… GOAL! I will get better at this. I SWEAR!
So. New covers, book release next week, and a pride of big cats who can’t WAIT for you to read them. Let’s do this!

The final Forgotten Monsters book is out EARLY!
Due to a slight boo-boo on my part (I was SO excited to get the final book in this series out to you guys I had premature fingers!), Echo is available everywhere as of today instead of the 26th. That means more monster-y goodness in your ereader!
So go forth and enjoy Thane and Zoe’s story!
EchoAmazon | Barnes and Noble | iTunes | Kobo | InkteraRelease Date: April 7, 2017
Pages: 71
Genre: Monster Erotica
When Thane Demarcos left home to travel the world, he never expected to end up stranded in a tiny mountain town so far from the water he can’t smell salt on the wind. For a Siren to be without the oceans close by is unheard of and he knows it’s only a matter of time before his family tracks him down to bring him home.
In the meantime, Thane’s stuck with a neighbor who takes in all the town’s strays and hardly remembers to care for herself. If Zoe Canton knew what was good for her, she’d stop spending all her money on dog food and start stocking up her pantry for the winter he can feel coming.
Fate being the tyrant she is, Thane and Zoe get unexpectedly snowed in and Thane finds himself grudgingly coming to understand the effervescent woman who cares too much. The more he learns about her, the more he comes to admire her.
Considering he’s bound to return to his watery home, this spells disaster for everyone.
Warning: This book contains a man who has exceptional allure and a woman who tries to live her life to the fullest. A round of drinks and karaoke for everyone. On the house.

Looking back on March
Whew! Another month has come and gone. Let’s see what got accomplished in the world of Kelly Apple.
As February wound down, I was all set to devote March to writing the 6th Grimwood book. That, umm, didn’t happen. Thanks in large part to an unexpected foray into a sci-fi romance I was playing around with. Let’s just say that those mutant space rats and the woman who kept them at bay had a bigger story than I was expecting them to have.
I’m still not sure what I’ll be doing with that book (which has both a name and a series attached to it, btw), but it’s written and now it’s been put aside to age gracefully until I have enough distance from it to pick it up and be as critical as I need to be. (By the by, being critical of your own work is both VERY hard and VERY easy. ‘Tis a conundrum.)
March saw the release of Dream, the 3rd Forgotten Monsters book. Echo (book 4) has been submitted for preorder as of the writing of this post and I’m just waiting for it to go live on the different platforms. That SHOULD be by the end of the day, but some places take longer than others.
March also saw the final two Grimwood covers and blurbs go up. Book 5 is Fen’s story and book 6 is Lorianne and Alistair’s. I’m also working (slowly) on redoing the Monstrous Tales covers. Once I have the bulk of them done, I’ll share them with the masses.
April is a Camp NaNo month and I’m *cough* planning *cough* on working on Cursed Heart so I can get that off my to-do list. Be warned, sometimes plans don’t work out the way I think they will because my muse is a strange, fickle beast. Lately, she’s been obsessed with space rats and it could be tough wrangling her back to the project I really should be working on. Don’t worry, though, Cursed Heart WILL get written. No ifs, ands, or buts about it.
Here’s to a productive upcoming month!

Dream is HERE!
The 3rd installment in the Forgotten Monsters series has arrived! Come meet Cris, the Nightmare who can’t quite get a handle on his inborn power, and Garnet, the dreamer who helps him with his little problem.
(And, psst, that .99 price won’t last forever. Grab it now!)
DreamAmazon | Barnes and Noble | iTunes | 24 Symbols | KoboRelease Date: March 22, 2017
Pages: 63
Genre: Monster Erotica
Cris Mara is tired of hiding his true self. This disillusioned nightmare is ready to show the humans what he can do with the abilities he’s been born with. At least he will be once he masters the skill to walk the nightmare plane at will, not just when night closes over his part of the world.
Garnet Douglas can’t stop dreaming about the man she sees in a coffee shop near her college. He’s dangerous and fascinating and his darkness calls to her in ways she can’t explain. When an unexpected encounter reveals that Garnet’s dreams aren’t as random as she thought, she has to decide whether she’s ready to believe in the world Cris is part of or if she’d rather keep her head buried in the metaphorical sand.
The world is teetering on the brink of a revelation and Cris and Garnet are only the beginning.
Warning: This book contains one surly nightmare who can’t quite keep from going off prematurely. If only he could find a lady who complemented his darkness he might be able to figure things out.

Covers, covers, and more covers part 2
As part of my cover making extravaganza recently, I put the finishing touches on the last two covers for the Grimwood series. (and promplty realized how much I wasn’t in love with the cover for book 1. WHY DO I DO THIS TO MYSELF?!?!)
For the curious, the first draft of Cursed Lives (book 5) is completed and hanging out to aerate. Or something. Once I have a little time to let it breathe, I’ll go back for a reread and see what needs to be tweaked, added, deleted, etc. I started writing Cursed Heart (book 6), but had to put that on hold for a bit to take care of a certain mutant space rat problem. (That probably makes no sense to anyone but me and my writing group ladies, but there’s a sci-fi story that got stuck in my head. With mutant space rats. There. Now we ALL know about it.)
I’m aiming for a mid-year release on books 5 & 6 (either July and August or August and September–although that’s subject to change based on how quickly I get Cursed Heart written) and decided now would be an EXCELLENT time to share the final two covers and blurbs.
So…
Cursed LivesRelease Date: 2017
Genre: Paranormal Romance, Twisted Fairytale
Growing up wild in Grimwood, Gretchen Malloy knows her corner of the woods like the back of her hand. Stumbling over a previously undiscovered cabin to explore is the highlight of her lazy summer days.
Only, the cabin she found isn’t empty and the brooding, angry man who chases her away is almost too much excitement for her tastes. For all she might not be wanted, Gretchen’s terminal curiosity sends her back again and again until an unexpected friendship blossoms.
Fen Grimm knows exactly what he is—the crusty old loner who’s given up on the world outside his cabin and who wants nothing to do with Grimwood or any of its many inhabitants. He’s already loved and lost enough and he has no need to watch another mortal age and die before his eyes.
If only Grimwood didn’t need him, he’d be content to live out the rest of his long days alone. But when the magic in the wood calls, a Grimm must answer.
Cursed HeartRelease Date: 2017
Genre: Paranormal Romance, Twisted Fairytale
Lorianne Grimm is a woman broken. Her children lost through thievery and curses, she retreated to the woods to grieve. Finally coming to terms with her loss, she emerged and was dealt one last blow… her husband had disappeared and she, herself, had been cursed to remain eternally young.
Unable to face her pain, Lorianne once again fled into the heart of the woods and tried for five hundred years to forget.
But lately there have been whispers on the wind that speak of great change within Grimwood. Magic is coming back to life and for it to properly take root Lorianne will have to take her place in the tale.
Hidden deep in Grimwood is a castle. The stories say only those with the purest heart will be able to find it and navigate the treacherous path inside. With all the hatred churning within her for what was done to her family, Lorianne hardly considers herself pure. But the whispers tell of one last thing, a Grimm who was cursed into an enchanted sleep nearly five hundred years ago after losing his family. A Grimm who only waits for his lady love to awaken him.
For the chance to be with her husband again, Lorianne will follow her heart and risk everything. Including her life.
And, yes, I am working on updating the Cursed Blood cover now. Because it needs it.

Covers, covers, and more covers
I did something this past weekend that I’ve been meaning to do for AGES. AAAAAAGGGGGES. What was it I did? I gave Operation Werewolf a face lift.
YOU GUYS DON’T KNOW HOW GOOD I FEEL ABOUT THIS!!!!
Seriously, when I originally starting putting together the covers for the Monstrous Matchmaker series, I liked the first one okay, but I LOVED the others. LOVED THEM. And the Operation Werewolf cover never quite fit in with the others. I mean, it DID, but it didn’t at the same time.
I always intended to go back and redo it, but it was one of those things that kept being put off because I had OMG!A THOUSAND AND ONE OTHER THINGS TO DO instead. (Side note: the downside of self-pubbing is that, unless you have an assistant of some sort, you’re the go-to gal for everything. The upside? You’re the go-to gal for everything. Which means you don’t answer to anyone. Which is also a downside. Huh. Two sides, same coin. Go figure.)
To make a long story short. I’ve been immersed in making promo graphics this past week and I FINALLY sat down and redid the Operation Werewolf cover.
Wanna see it??
Operation WerewolfAmazonRelease Date: April 12, 2015
Pages: 45
Genre: Monster Erotica
Being happily mated to a monster out of her wildest fantasies has given Ari Colton a burning desire to match her other monstrous friends up with their own dream girls. Her supernatural dating service might still have a few bugs to work out, but Ari knows she can find someone for anyone.
Her first paying customer? A lonely harpy who’s been unlucky at love more than once.
Which of her friends is willing to step up to the plate and help Ari’s fledgling business out? One wicked werewolf with a soft side for damsels in distress, that’s who.
Can a werewolf with his feet firmly on the ground find love with a flighty girl? Only time will tell.
Warning: This book contains one pretty, winged girl and one growly werewolf. No woodland animals were harmed in their explosive outdoor encounter.
I like this one SO MUCH BETTER than the first version.
Now, I know my title for this post has plural covers on it, but I think I might save the others for later this week. *diabolical laughter* What can I say, I was very graphically productive recently.
See you soon!

Follow me on BookBub!
I spent the weekend setting up my BookBub author profile and adding my books on there. Which was fun. Mostly. I mean, I have a lot of books and the adding them part got a little time consuming. But it was worth it once I got to see them all lined up in pretty little rows.
My point in mentioning this is that if you use BookBub to follow authors, I’m on there. GO FORTH AND FOLLOW ME!
(As a mildly unrelated aside, if you DON’T know what BookBub is…well, it’s the place booklovers go to have fun and grab deals. From a reader standpoint, it rocks. All those glorious books just waiting for someone to come by and snap them up. *gives everyone my slightly crazed smile* Beyond the deals, you can also follow authors and get an email whenever they release a new book. WHAT’S NOT TO LIKE ABOUT THAT?!?!)
