Harlow, despite being over a hundred years old, hasn’t seen that much of the universe. She spent the first half of her life as a genetic supremacist for the monstrous Perfected Hegemony, before fleeing to the Valhallan Norse to live a normal life. But when the last of her family passed away, she threw in with Rex Vahl and the crew of the Longshot, falling in love with the cyborg crewman Jake Gaderi. While her presence may not be entirely welcome, she’s eager to see the universe, the worlds of ‘primitives’ she once looked down on. But when their ship is shot out of the stars Harlow finds herself in the hands of slavers, and struggling to survive on a crimeworld where death is as common as breathing. Alone amongst people she doesn’t know, she’ll discover real quick that some parts of the galaxy may be exciting, but aren’t exactly inviting…
