Indie Spotlight on Romance: Deep Space Voyagers

Imaginative space faring vessels that can cross the galaxy at faster than light speed (FTL) are a staple of science fiction and space opera. But what if the colonists don't have FTL? It will take generations to make the voyage. Such is the premise of Tracy Cooper-Posey's The Endurance series. Each book follows a couple as the Endurance makes a thousand year voyage to a distant world.

The first book, Greyson's Doom opens when the Endurance has been in space for over a century. The world building is beyond imaginative, the technical/science bits sufficient to support the premise without bogging down the narrative. The character development is a bit thin, but that is corrected in the second volume, Yesterday's Legacy. Marlow and Jonah a couple that had me cheering for an HEA from the start. Bonus points that the couple is over forty.

The AI declares Greyson is going to die and he must train his replacement.

Captain Greyson Durant has been in the job for three months, the youngest captain to ever lead the Endurance, when he is assigned to mentor the even younger Emmaline Victore, who resents the disruption to her life and Grey, too…but the longevity of the Endurance depends on them finding a way to work together.

Indie Spotlight on Romance: Freelance Slayer

The plot is is tight and the romance a bit of a slow-burn, but super hot once it ignites.

Indie Spotlight on Romance: All Aliens

One of sci-fi romance's most common tropes is the alien that loves me where the me is human. In a nice change up on the trope, Cara Bristol's Genmate Dilemma Trilogy features main characters that are not only alien, but alien to each other--as in from different planets. The story itself takes place on yet a third planet. Although there's some fun worldbuilding to make it all work, it's not so much as to bog down the narrative.

Vengeance led him to love. But will it destroy him, too?

Vengeance keeps ’Topian Edwin Mysk from surrendering to the pain of the destruction of his home world and the loss of the genmate he might have had. One day the Xeno Consortium will know his wrath. Until then, he will pursue his self-imposed mission to locate and reunite the massacre survivors.

When he lands on Laxiter 4, he finds the ’Topian settlement abandoned, except for a lone woman. Lala. Their immediate, intense bonding proves she’s his genmate, the one female his genetics have chosen for him—the one he’d believed lost forever. With Lala at his side, he resumes his search for the others.
