Duplicity to print

Today I uploaded the files to Create Space for a print version of Duplicity. I now only lack an email from Create Space that my files are correct, then I will order a proof. Once the proof has been reviewed I will order copies to be given away on Goodreads!
This has been a very challenging experience, one that I will remember to the day I pass from this earth. Duplicity has enlightened, humbled and frustrated me in ways that one can only appreciate by writing a novel without help from a large publishing house.
I hope to have the giveaway started in about one month.

Amazon book updates

I have been in contact with Amazon about automatic updates of books that you may have loaded to your Kindle. I am still a little confused as to what is going on. Yesterday when the file for Duplicity was live I tried to update my device and received the same old version of the book. Then I waited all day for the system at Amazon to do the update after first going to my Amazon settings and turning on Automatic Updates. This setting is to allow your Kindle to receive the updates. If this is not turned on you will not get them.
At about 4 PM I called Amazon and asked them what was the problem. Come to find out that no it will not work on some units sold. So the long and the short of it is if you are looking for the updated book and your Kindle unit will not deliver it, call Amazon. They will then send it to your device. Takes about 5 minutes.

Duplicity reedit

I will have a new edit of Duplicity out soon. This version will also have the first chapter of the sequel included.
Once I have the Kindle version up it will only be a couple of weeks before the paperback version will be available. I will be running a free giveaway once I have copies in my hand!
There are several parts to the original work that I have changed. Duplicity is my first work and I have learned from this experience. I am sure as you read the first chapter of the sequel you will see how my writing has evolved.

Back from Alaska!

I made it back from Sand Point Alaska on the 8th of January. The trip home took a lot out of me. My day started at 6AM in Sand Point on the 7th, finishing up paperwork and working on the reedit of Duplicity.
At 10AM I went to a vessel to put a tracking system on, used to make sure that the vessels stay out of the Sea Lion rookeries. The weather was a mess, coming down in buckets. I was outside working on putting the antenna up. I was drenched through three layers by the time I was finished.
At 3PM I was on the phone to Alaska Airlines to change my reservations. Most of the vessels were now out fishing for Cod.
The plane for Anchorage departed Sand Point at 7PM and landed in Anchorage at 9:30PM.
My next plane departed Anchorage at 1:15AM on the 8th arriving in Seattle Washington at 4:50AM. I couldn't get a second of sleep with a small child behind me that was sick and couldn't clear their ears.
In Seattle I had a bite to eat, then sat reading until the plane to Bellingham boarded at 8:15AM. I arrived in Bellingham at 9:30AM and home at 10:30AM, still no real sleep. I don't count the 5 minutes I lost track of the book I was reading nodding off on the plane to Bellingham.
I think It was 11:30AM before I climbed into bed, blurry eyed.

Back to Alaska

Tomorrow I will be going back to Sand Point Alaska. I know what your thinking, it's going to be so cold. Well it will be cold and at times very windy but not as cold as most of the country. The lowest temp I have ever been through there is about 8 degrees. On average it is in the 20's. Some days it will be in the low 40's. The wind is a different story. A calm day is about 20 MPH and I have seen 100 MPH days, that's right I did say days.
One thing I do like about going to Sand Point at this time of year is that I will have more days of sunshine there that I will get in Bellingham Washington.
I plan to spend as much time as I can when not working, writing. Without the distraction of home life it should be fruitful.

December 22, 2013

A lot going on.

With Christmas coming, family calling and work grabbing me by the last of my hair. I have managed to squeeze a little writing in too. I have now past the 26K word count into the Sequel of Duplicity.
The writing is going well I feel. This work will be so different from the first. Intensity of emotion will be the theme and the driving force behind it. It has griped me as I read over the work.
I am heading back to Sand Point Alaska on the 27 of December and I hope to have a little time to work on the story line while I am there. The first half of Duplicity was written in a motel room there.
I hope each of you has a great Christmas.
David

Independent author update.

So I have slowed down on my social media interactions for the last three weeks and this has had a positive effect in freeing up time for family and writing.
The next thing I did was also a positive move and that was to reprice Duplicity to $5.25 on Amazon. The book isn't selling like hotcakes but they are now selling at a steady rate and my profits are greater per unit. I have actually sold more unit at the new price. Moral to the story, don't sell your self or your work to cheep.

Finished Writing Chapter

I have been immersing myself into the sequel of Duplicity. The writing has been flowing without a problem, all I had to do was ignore the social media for a couple of weeks. Gilt of not using Twitter, Goodreads or Facebook is getting to me a little but I needed to get my priorities straight.
Family
Work
Writing
Social media
So with that in mind if you feel the urge to contact me please feel free to send me an email at alongthepath57@gmail.com I will always check my email.
The plot line of The Wrath of Kore is moving the way I have planed it out, with few deviations to my original storyboard. I feel that I have been able to keep the tension level at a good point too.
This read will deal with the emotional feelings of guilt, shame, mental torment, manipulation and death.
Happy Thanksgiving to people in the USA.
David

Happy Halloween

Another Halloween and I am not ready for it to be November tomorrow. Just a quick update on how the add campaign is doing on Goodreads. spent $10.00
views 71,942
clicks 5
ctr 0.01%
cpc $2.00
Now back to more interesting things.
I spent several hours over last weekend writing and made a few pages of progress in the sequel. But I don't think I am making the progress I would like because of the social networking obligations that I must now deal with. Not that I haven't had some fun with the social network sights that I have used, but it seems to be taking up writing time.
I have also started to focus a little more time on RND Marine Design projects. I manufacture a marine watch alarm that keeps fishermen from falling asleep when they have fished for to many hours.
Fish Expo is only of couple of weeks away in Seattle and I need to have several units ready to sell before the show starts.
