An Overview of WordPress 5.0

Welcome!

Are you struggling with the new version of WordPress?

A major update came to WordPress in December and regardless of the preparation, I’m hearing a lot of complaints.

The Post edit screen is dramatically different than the old version. Some older themes seem to be pushing back against this update and some plugins don’t seem to be compliant. All of this has ensured that I’ve been unbelievably busy since early December – putting out fires, answering questions, calming fears and concerns – and as a result haven’t really posted anything about this update.

Today’s post is the beginning of a series that will help move you into the direction of using WordPress 5.0 confidently. I’ve created some YouTube videos that will walk through some of the aspects and hopefully help you understand why this new update is a good thing – especially for the beginners.

Too often people with a lot of technical knowledge, or folks who are very comfortable with WordPress spout off ideas that have the average user scratching their head in puzzlement.

In my experience, if you are a beginner, just doing the basics of sharing information is all you can handle. Having a program to use that makes all the little bells and whistles easy and built in, is a welcome addition. That’s what this new version of WordPress does – and why it is so powerful for beginners.

Is it perfect? Nope, but it is much easier for a beginner to create a blog post now than it was when I had to try to explain how to embed a YouTube video or embed a Facebook share badge – or heaven help us….put columns in place!!

Have a look at the overview video above. If you are experienced, see if it helps you understand why you should consider embracing the new WordPress. If you are a beginner, I hope it provides enough of an overview to get you started. Look for more videos coming soon to help with the various functionalities available in the new WordPress 5.0

The Perfect Guide for Effective Social Media Automation

Welcome Back!

I automate some of my social media posting. I do this for several reasons – absentmindedness probably at the top of the list. I create a lot of evergreen blog posts. I used to try to remember to put reminders on my calendar. As I’ve mentioned in  other posts, now Missinglettr is my favorite tool.

Enjoy!
