Queen Midas in Reverse by Diane Rinella
The main characters in this stand-alone novella first appeared in the novel Scary Modsters … and Creepy Freaks, and its prequel novella, It's A Marshmallow World. Queen Midas In Reverse has been designed with those who have not read Scary Modsters in mind; however, Scary Modsters fans will find that this fills in Jacqueline’s story. The problems then occurring in Rosalyn’s life are ignored for the sake of new-reader experience.

Binding Contracts by Holly Barbo
What do you do when you no longer want something? You discard it, right? Which is exactly what happens when Keith gets tired of his wife. But there are signed contracts and someone hasn’t read the fine print.

Hattie Makes a Deal by Jayne Hyatt
Hattie Devine had taken a beating from life causing the loss of her marriage, her children's understanding, the use of her leg, and even her personal dignity, but she was determined to fight back. Moving to Bedford Grove offered her the chance to regain her independence while rehabilitating from her injury. But independence could be lonely.

Nate Perkins left Bedford Grove for a life and career in the big city, but the fast pace, and disillusionment with both his career and personal life had left him tired, divorced. Once again, back home in the small town where he'd grown up, Nate found both peace and success along with what he thought was the perfect casual relationship arrangement, until he found himself dumped, and single once more.

Nevertheless, Nate knew exactly what he wanted, or so he thought, until a crazy, shabby old lady rode up on a three-wheeled bike wearing a floppy hat and offered him a deal. His first instinct was to refuse, because she was surely insane, but there was something about her, and her floppy hat, and her dogged determination that he could not ignore. Yes, Hattie Devine was a little crazy, a lot strange, and now that he’d met her, he would never be same again.

Father Made Me Do It by Jami Brumfield
Charm Livingston's life is hell, literally. As a vengeance demon, she resides in the underworld until a furious soul calls upon her to exact revenge in exchange for ten years in hell. Being a demon is bad enough, but as the daughter of the devil himself she has very little wiggle room for escape. And escaping is all she's ever dreamed of, leaving the bowels of hell and becoming human is the one dream she knows she cannot have... or can she?

When a man is murdered by one of her fellow demons, the now grieving fiancé calls upon Charm for help. Charm's psychometric power helps her replay the events leading up to the man's death. In the midst of arranging justice for her client she meets the angel that was the killer’s target. He's injured and she saves his life, despite the repercussions her actions could have on her own soul. Daddy dearest wants the angel dead, and she derails the devil's plans.

In return, the angel agrees to help Charm with her greatest wish, except that ascension isn't going to be easy. She'll need to pass through the thirteen levels of the underworld by passing thirteen tests in order to overcome the realm of purgatory and reach the Hall of Akashic Records where her soul can be reborn.

In Father Made Me Do It, she faces her first test and begins her journey from the underworld to mortal life while she continues to carry out her duty as the justice demon. The fine line she treads is fraught with danger, and her naivety in human ways will take readers on an emotional roller coaster of tears and laughter.

The Father-in-Law Effect by Cherime MacFarlane

Morag doesn’t know how much more Turk can take. With little or no energy left for romance, it’s time to pull out the big guns and get her mother to take her father in hand. A job site incident may be the catalyst to bring change.

Calamity June by Ella Medler
Mid-life crisis hits June hard and she decides to re-start her life. Alone. She learns of a ‘green’ community in which people do just enough to stay alive; no money, no taxes, no worries. It’s just one big, happy family. Perfect for her needs.

Roy feels the ground slip from under his feet when he learns June intends to leave him. He can’t let her throw away their love of many years. Not without a fight. But how can he win her back?

On Midsummer's Night, Randy, June's new friend and commune handyman, asks her for a kiss. It feels wrong and right in equal measure. Wrong, because she isn't ready for love yet. And right, because he reminds her of someone…

Enjoying San Francisco as a backdrop, the ghosts in USA Today Bestselling Author Diane Rinella's one hundred and fifty-year old Victorian home augment the chorus in her head. With insomnia as their catalyst, these voices have become multifarious characters that haunt her well into the sun's crowning hours, refusing to let go until they have manipulated her into succumbing to their whims. Her experiences as an actress, business owner, artisan cake designer, software project manager, Internet radio disc jockey, vintage rock 'n' roll journalist/fan girl, and lover of dark and quirky personalities influence her idiosyncratic writing.

Holly's world is shaped by her love of family, the beauty of the natural world and an irrepressible creative drive. She has always been curious and sees life through questions. These four characteristics color her writing voice and her stories frequently evolve from her asking "What if....?" Her tales tend to have non-urban settings with nature contributing to the plot, building discordant themes inside a seemingly peaceful refrain. Her motto: Weaving Alternative Worlds with Threads From Today.

Meet author Cherime MacFarlane. A prolific multi-genre author, she has a broad range of interests that reflect her, been there-done that, life. Romance, Historical Fiction, Fantasy, Paranormal, all sorts of characters and plots evolve from a vivid imagination.

I came to Alaska kicking and screaming in 1976, and I never want to leave. I cut firewood on shares for money to get through the winter. I swore I would not live above the Alaska Range because it was too cold there and wound up in the Copper River Basin where it got just a cold as Fairbanks.

My second husband, a Scot from Glasgow, was the love of my life. When I write Scots dialect, I experienced hearing it from my in-laws. When my husband got on the phone to Scotland after five seconds, I could hardly understand a word. I was my second husband's chief mechanic's helper and roadie.

I live in a cabin which is slowly being surrounded by the city and wish I was further out. My two cats and Husky-Collie mix dog are happy in our little slice of heaven called Alaska. In the silence of winter dreams of people and places provide a rich pool of ideas to delve into.

Ella Medler is a U.K. author and editor. She writes fiction in many genres in a seemingly vain attempt to slow down her overactive brain enough to write non-fiction on subjects she knows a thing or two about. She also does not believe in the starchy use of English and ignores the type of rule that doesn’t allow for a sentence to be finished in a preposition. Her books are action-driven, and well-developed characters are her forte. Loves: freedom. Hates: her inner censor.

THE PLEASURE PRINCIPLE by Kimberly Adkins

THE PLEASURE PRINCIPLE by Kimberly AdkinsGenre: Contemporary Erotica
Anderson Cain and Julian Brax have been best friends since college, two men with very strict—and very different—approaches to finding love: one by studying the physical act of sex, the other by mastering the art of dominance and control. But throughout their relationship, one thing has remained a constant: They've never let a woman come between them. Until now.

Shy and mousy Alice Dahl spends her days cleaning houses for clients who value discretion. In her bulky uniform, glasses, and cap, she appears non-descript and unobtrusive, and does her job without asking questions. Until she begins working for the secretive, and stunningly gorgeous, Dr. Anderson Cain, who awakens a sexual longing in her that she can’t ignore. A new woman comes home with Dr. Cain nearly once a month—and that’s about how long they last. Alicia longs to have a chance to be with him, even though she knows that’s ridiculous. But when her curiosity lures her into his forbidden study, she can’t resist peeking at his notes. And what she finds astounds her. Dr. Cain is researching the subject of sexual pleasure. Even just skimming over the experiments arouses her as he describes each subject’s threshold of pleasure and the methods used to achieve climax. And she finds the venue where he meets his subjects: Damsels, a secretive BDSM club in the heart of the French Quarter.

Determined to take a chance, for once, Alice embarks on a masquerade into the exclusive New Orleans underworld of Dominants and Submissives. Her stunning makeover gains her admittance at Damsels, but the owner of the Club, Julian Brax, senses her innocence the moment he sees her. The Dom inside him feels a powerful and all-consuming need to protect her and make her his own. Until he finds out that the girl he’s set his heart upon is his friend Anderson’s next subject. They’ve never let a woman come between them before. Perhaps this time, they might enjoy it…

She ran the pads of her fingertips along the rough brick wall as she walked around the corner. Though she knew she should take off the glossy red paint, she hadn’t done it. Something about it made her feel sexy and a little decadent. She came to the wrought iron gate and looked inside. The area appeared to be empty, until she saw something in the far corner.

A man in tight blue jeans leaned over the side of a large motorcycle. His thighs were muscular and flexed when he reached forward for his helmet. Alice felt a wave of desire pass through her body and she couldn’t believe how she was reacting to a glimpse of some stranger on the other side of a courtyard.

A hot stranger, she reminded herself.

He put the helmet on with his back still to her and gracefully swung his right leg over the bike, straddling the powerful machine as he cranked it on.

Alice was light-headed and she held tight to the curling design on the gate. Butterflies swarmed in the pit of her stomach when she saw him notice her, standing there like a statue. She should probably move, or he wouldn’t be able to get out. But instead of rolling forward like she’d expected, the rider turned off the engine and climbed down. He walked toward her, his fingers unstrapping the helmet as he came closer.

With one swift movement he removed the helmet and tucked it under his arm, allowing his long black hair to fall over his shoulders. It was Julian Brax and she could tell he was holding back his emotions by the look on his face. He was still angry at her, then, for the part she’d played the evening before. Coming here to face him was probably a mistake. And he was quick to cross the courtyard to let her know about it, too.

Her fingers gripped the iron grate until her knuckles turned white.

“Alicia.” The way he said her name was as sexy as she remembered. She shivered. “Why are you here?”

His eyes searched hers and she pooled all of her will together in order to hold up under the scrutiny. She couldn’t tell what he was feeling, but the sparks of hazel in his deep brown eyes seemed to glow with intensity.

“I wanted to apologize for yesterday evening. I didn’t mean to cause a scene.” She didn’t mean to run from him either, when given the choice between the two friends, but she couldn’t get that part out. What would he think of her if she said something like that? Her feelings for both men were vastly different, and she was just too inexperienced to sort them out. Alice realized she had a lot to learn about herself and she began to turn away.

“Don’t leave.” Strong fingers covered hers before she could release her hold on the gate. “Please.”

His hands were warm, and the feeling spread across her body until her cheeks flushed. She turned to face him again, so close to him, just an inch of iron separating them.

“I was about to go for a ride. Would you like to come along?” He hadn’t released her. Somehow he came closer still and she could feel the intensity of his gaze as it dominated the space they shared. Alice was literally weak in the knees.

“I don’t know.” Her voice was breathy with the desire that was building inside her. He had to know the effect he was having; there was no way she could possibly hide it.

“You don’t know if you want to, or if you should?” He cocked his head to the side and read her like a book. “Would you like me to teach you the difference?”

Alice was fairly certain the iron clenched in her fist was melting beneath their clasped hands. Would he teach her, did he mean it? She wanted to explore these new feelings and desires. Julian Brax would be the perfect guide for her passions. But he might be dangerous. Would she be safe with him? As safe as she knew herself to be with Anderson?

“Yes.” Her answer came out as a whisper and the gate clicked open between them. Brax released her and stepped back. Alice walked into the courtyard and stopped in front of him awkwardly. He came close, his body nearly touching hers as he leaned down and whispered in her ear.

“Now you know what you want. Whether or not you should do it remains to be seen.”

THE HIRING FAIR by Laura Strickland

THE HIRING FAIRpart of The Wild Rose Press' "Help Wanted Series"

by Laura Strickland Publisher: The Wild Rose PressGenre: Historical Romance

Brutally dispossessed during the Highland Clearances, Tam Sutherland comes to the hiring fair at Oban, Scotland hoping to find a job for the season. But his maimed right hand, inflicted by the same cruel factor responsible for his parents’ deaths, means he’s one of few men available when the beautiful woman makes her surprising announcement: she’s looking not for a hand but a husband, not just for the season but forever.

Annie MacCallum is under threat from a brutal factor also, back at her home farm—one who preys on unmarried women. If she’s to protect all those who rely on her, including her beloved animals, she must have a husband, if only in name. Secretly glad when the attractive Tam takes up her proposition, she doesn’t realize she’s dragging him into a situation that will trigger old demons. Nor does she expect to give him her heart.

In a low tone he asked, “This marriage you ha’ in mind, will it be legal wi’ no banns being read?”

“Father Alban is an old friend of my uncle, and I ha’ spoken to him of this. He will accommodate me.”

“Aye, and what will your uncle think o’ this scheme of yours?”

“Very little, I imagine. He is dead.”

Sutherland contemplated that without comment.

St. Lyon’s church loomed ahead, appearing all at once out of the swirling snow. Annie turned to Jockie.

“You lead Old Rake round back and join us inside where you can get warm, eh?”

Jockie nodded and clattered off.

Annie turned to Sutherland and looked into his face, only to be struck again by how handsome he looked. But that had naught to do with anything, and she could not let it sway her good sense, not when she’d come so far.

“Before we go inside, I want to be sure I ha’ your understanding. This is no’ an ordinary marriage but something more in the manner of a hiring, which is why I came to the fair in the first place.”

He inclined his shaggy head toward her slightly. “A hiring wi’out wages. That is against the law, you do ken.”

She swept him with her gaze. “And are you a man to adhere to arbitrary laws? I confess, I did no’ get that impression.”

“And,” he returned, “are you a woman who needs to hire a husband?” He echoed her. “I confess, I did no’ get that impression.” He returned her stare, slow and attentive. “You are certainly bonnie enough to snare a husband the usual way.”

To her surprise, Annie felt a wave of heat course through her. “I do no’ want a usual kind o’ husband. I want one who will tak’ my orders and stay clear o’ my bed. Be sure you are that man before we go inside and speak these vows.”

One of Sutherland’s eyebrows quirked up. “I was right at the outset; you are mad.”

“So we ha’ already determined,” Annie agreed, beginning to grow edgy again. What if he refused at this late moment? Where would she find a substitute, with the market now deserted and the snow falling? Besides, she discovered she did not want a substitute; for reasons she did not quite understand, she wanted this man and no other.

“There is a story behind this,” he said mildly. “I confess, I would like to hear it.”

“Perhaps you shall, but not now—there is no time.” Annie drew a breath and sought to deny the fear rising inside her, the fear that he might walk away from her after all.

But that curious smile crossed his lips again.

“Are you coming wi’ me?” she pressed.

“It seems a damned clever way to secure the services of a farm worker whilst paying no wages,” he said. “But aye, for all that, I will come along wi’ you.”

Excerpt
“Well, I like that,” Brenna said. “My own mother likes your cake better.”
Dante regarded her with amusement. “Not everything has to be a competition between us, does it? What difference does it make which of us bakes the better cake?”
“Or sautés the better shrimp?” Brenna said, remembering Dante’s shrimp dish from Thanksgiving that she, Rebecca, and Maddie had all deemed to be almost better than sex. Not that she’d tell Dante that. She blew out a tired sigh. “I’m sick of losing to you in the food department. I try to so hard to be creative, and you whip something up at the last minute that takes home the gold.”
“Is it really that big a deal?” He raised his brows.
Brenna stared at him a moment and made him laugh when she said, “Bet your ass! I hate coming in second on anything, especially to you. And say what you will—” She poked his chest with her finger for emphasis. “—but you’re just as competitive as I am.” He moved back a step and she poked him again. “You don’t like to lose at anything either.” One more poke. “You always do whatever you have to do to win.”
Dante’s eyes narrowed, but his lips curved. He stepped forward against the press of her finger, forcing her to step back—once, twice, thrice—and she sucked in a breath when her hips bumped against the counter. She reached behind her to grab the edge of the countertop, and her eyes widened when Dante rested his hands on either side of hers, hemming her in as he had done in the storeroom.
Brenna’s heart sped to triple speed. Dante leaned down and she parted her lips, in spite of herself, when his mouth stopped a mere breath away from hers, so close she swore she felt the radiating heat. A second passed, and another. His gaze dipped to her mouth. Brenna licked her lips and her eyes fluttered shut in anticipation, and then the stubble darkening his jaw tickled the skin of her cheek with the barest touch, and his warm breath against her ear made her shiver when he whispered, “You’re right. I’ll do whatever I have to do to win. You’d do well to remember that, sweetheart.”
He pressed his lips against the tender skin just below her earlobe and made her shiver again, then stepped back. Brenna stared at him, her mind whirling.
“It’s late. I’ll follow you home when you’re ready to go, make sure you get there safe,” he said. “And relax, I don’t expect to be invited in. I know you just want to be friends.”
Brenna still gripped the edges of the counter, her eyes wide and lips parted in surprise when he disappeared out to the porch.

As you read Lisa’s books, watch for the rescues! While Lisa is a fan of storytelling in all genres, Romance is her favorite because she believes everyone deserves love and a happily-ever-after. But she adores a little mystery now and then, too, so keep an eye out for Lisa’s authorship of a whodunit one of these days soon.

Avarice by A.C. Melody

Avarice RB Banner Avarice Cover [image error] Devils OnlyIt was a permanent note-to-self tattooed right above Kameo Kross's panties, because anything less was a disappointment. Had anyone cared to issue the warning: Be careful what you wish for, she might have thought twice before wording it like an actual invitation.Kami doesn't fear pain, death or eternal damnation. She fears only submitting completely. A matter she usually has well in hand... until an unexpected detour into kink and a relentless bastard of a new boss decide to put all of her resistance–and chosen ink–to the trickiest of tests. [image error] Amazon US I Amazon UK I B&N I iBooks I Kobo Excerpt The bull-headed suit was sitting comfortably in a plush armchair, staring at her. Okay, technically it was impossible to know where he was looking, but she couldn’t shake the feeling of being watched, which was undoubtedly wishful thinking on her part. Regardless, she started a new dance. A dance just for him. She let herself believe that it was real, that she’d caught his attention, because he’d certainly caught hers. Then she was lost in the music, lost to the bodies grinding all around her. A man’s hands started groping her clumsily, too sloppy and weak to break the spell. The profane promises and suggestions he bellowed rolled right over her. Let him touch. Let him talk. He wasn’t getting inside. There was only one kind of man allowed inside of her on All Hallows’ Eve and it wasn’t the type to shout his own stupidity at the top of his lungs. “...I’m gonna fuck you so hard.” Apparently tired of being ignored, he shoved his face into hers. His hot, putrid breath assaulted her nostrils. Stumbling when it knocked her off rhythm, Kami was righted by a pair of wide, firm hands landing on her hips from behind. They turned her with confident ease, pinning her against the large, solid form donned in exquisite Armani. An arm crossed over her ass, palming her right cheek territorially. The red bull head was staring beyond her, to the man who’d been molesting her personal space, vowing things that were never going to happen. Kami’s eyes were glued to where the mask met his throat, giving her just a glimpse of hard jawline. “Hey, don’t look at me. She never said she was here with anyone!” The guy stammered, fearful, angry and drunk. He must have left the area, because the bull looked down at her at last and just stared. It was odd how a mask could stare at you. It was an inanimate object, yet there were eyes behind it that could look right into you, without being vulnerable to the same treatment in kind. It was a wicked power, that. “A demon in an angel costume? Not very subtle,” a deep, masculine voice remarked from within the mask, both muffled and amplified by it. “Isn’t that the point?” She arched a brow. She flirted shamelessly now, because the chemistry was charging between them and it was not just wishful thinking this time. “Perhaps.” “Wherein lies your irony, bull man?” It was more curiosity triggered by Zoe’s comments than small talk. “I represent a conspiracy,” he answered at length. “And?” Tucking his head beside her ear, his cologne aroused her senses, her skin tingling with awareness. His tone never hinted at anything other than stone-cold fact. “I am a conspiracy.” Straightening, he tilted his head and regarded her for another moment, before lightly fingering her halo. “Were you looking for someone to remove that pesky Grace from your body, angel?” A delicious shiver worked through her. “Absolutely.” “Good. We’re heading to a more intimate party. Would you like to invite your friend?” Searching the crowd, she saw that Zoe was still happily occupied with her alien counterpart, so she shook her head. “No.” “Even better.” It should have been a red flag, but the truth was, Kami agreed with him. Just because Zoe knew everything about her, didn’t mean they shared the same thrills. There were things her bestie would never do, lines she would never cross, and situations that would make her uncomfortable, which Kami found absolute bliss in. Just outside of the VIP entrance, an actual stretch limo was idling. A chauffeur in a bright gold Greenman mask waited by the open door. The cold air felt exhilarating to her skin and lungs, despite the taint of car exhaust. Before she could climb in behind the Roman entourage and their companions, her bull man grabbed her wings and roughly yanked them off of her, handing them to the driver. Her halo went next and then he preceded her into the car. After seating himself, the bull man held his hand out for her to take. She could have walked away then. He didn’t seem the type to chase or persuade. The choice to join him inside of the limo was ultimately hers. What a pisser. Ignoring the jilt of disappointment, she put her hand in his, ducked her head and was pulled inside, right down onto her knees at his feet. The door slammed shut behind her. Her choice was made. All chances of escape… gone. Cupping the nape of her neck, he tucked his head alongside hers again and corrected her mistaken assumptions without mercy, proving himself to be exactly the kind of ruthless bastard she’d been hoping for. “I’m almost disappointed you decided to come willingly, angel,” he purred darkly. “Now, I’ll have to devise another way to get my point across.” It wasn’t fear she swallowed, but a rush of heady arousal that went straight to her sex. Thank fucking God. “What point would that be?” Laughing quietly, he sat back and stared at her. “After tonight, you will never ask that question again.” Giveaway a Rafflecopter giveaway [image error] A.C. In CHASED BY LOVE...

Actress Trish Ryder takes her job seriously and has no time for those who don't. When she's awarded a major role in a new movie featuring America's hottest rock star, Boone Stryker, she's beyond excited. The six-two, tattooed hunk of burning desire is known for his dedication to his craft--but when he ditches their first meeting, she begins to wonder if he's just another rocker with a great PR team.

Sex, booze, women, and music pretty much sum up Boone Stryker's private world. He's coasted through life playing by his own rules with plenty of people willing to cover his tracks, and he's not likely to change--until he meets a woman who refuses to give him the time of day, much less anything more.

Sparks fly from the first moment Trish and Boone meet--Tensions run hot and desire runs hotter when they're trapped together on a remote location with no place to hide. Will sparks ignite, or will a hurricane douse the flames?

Unwilling to give him the upper hand, she flashed a haughty smirk and returned his assessment with a lecherous leer of her own, drinking in every inch of his athletic build, from his bulging biceps to the ripped abs evident beneath his clingy shirt, all the way to the formidable package at the juncture of his powerful thighs. She lingered there, brazenly licking her lips.

He leaned in close—so close she thought he might kiss her. And damn it to hell, she wanted him to. Lust and challenge pulsed between them, thick and alive like a third heart.

Even as a little girl teachers would tell my parents I lived in a world of my own. The literary world was my safe haven. Then I grew up. I practiced medicine in the ER and urgent care for the last 15 years. I started writing again while still working in the ER but put it aside when we opened our own clinic. Until last year my husband and I owned our own practice, had two children and lived a somewhat normal life. Then in the span of a year we sold our practice, bought a 96 acre farm in the hills of West Virginia and adopted 3 of our patients (ages 2,3,4) bringing our kid count up to five. It has been a crazy year full of ups and downs, learning to laugh at ourselves. Being mostly brought up in the city, the change to managing a working farm with real farm creatures and ever lurking bears has been an adventure. Not to mention adjusting to being a mom of FIVE. But when things are rough I just laugh and tell stories. Because at the end of the day sometimes laughter and love is all you have. Somewhere in the midst of kids and chickens, I managed to finish my first novel and dive deeply into the second. Writing at night or early in the morning while all the little ones are asleep lets me escape into another world. I hope that you will enjoy the journey of the story as much as I have writing it. Pursue your dreams as if limits to your abilities do not exist. [image error] [image error] Amazon [image error] Book Page [image error] [image error]
