Excerpt
Austin pulled me to him and slid the hair off my neck and over my shoulder. "You're wearing my favorite dress from that shopping trip you dragged me on for this vacation." "Am I?" He nodded and gently traced my neck with the back of his fingers just the way I liked. But then, I liked nearly every way he touched me.  He lifted the silver luckenbooth brooch I'd pinned to my dress and examined it with a wry grin on his face. "And you're wearing my brooch." He looked up at me from beneath long, thick lashes. "I sneaked this brooch on you without telling you the significance and let you take it, hoping it would mean something more to you later. Do you know the meaning of the luckenbooth?" "Oh, aye." I nodded solemnly. "The tealeaf reader told me. She recognized it immediately." "And yet you're still wearing it?" "I kept it near even when I couldn't remember you specifically." "Me, specifically?" His small smile grew until it lit his whole face. "You remembered me in general, then?" I grinned back at him. How was it he always made me smile? "The brooch made me happy. So yes, smart aleck, I remembered you in general." Even given the craziness of the conversation, he seemed to like my answer. "Now that you remember, you might recall we were talking about getting married." I nodded. My heart raced. "I do. Are you proposing?" He shook his head. "No. When I propose, there will be no doubt in your mind you're being proposed to." Still holding the brooch with one hand, he caught my wrist with the other without breaking his gaze. "I'm serious, Blair. Women plan their weddings from the time they're little girls. Guys go carelessly through life, not thinking too hard on it until it becomes obvious we have to think of a special way to pop the question." "What are you asking?" I shook my hand free of his grip and grabbed him by the shoulders, amused, touched, and sorry I was giving him so much trouble. He was clearly insecure and wondering where we stood. "Are you wondering if it's still worth the trouble? If I've changed my mind?" He nodded. "I guess I am." He paused. "You've been in an accident. Had a nasty bump on the head. You could have come to your senses and changed your mind. If you need more time—" "I don't need any more time to know my mind." I stroked his hair and his soft red curls. "I haven't forgotten I love you. The accident did me a favor—it showed me what my life would be like if I'd never met you. I don't want that life. Not at all."

Coattails and Cocktails by Rumer Haven

Coattails and Cocktails by Rumer Haven Genre: Historical Mystery, Romantic Suspense
Publisher:  Fallen Monkey Press
Cover Designer:  RoseWolf DesignRelease Date: September 14, 2017

A body clearly shaken, but not stirring…

Summer, 1929. Murder isn’t on the menu when Chicago tycoon Ransom Warne hosts a dinner party at his country estate. But someone’s a victim—and everyone’s a suspect—when drinks and desires lead to disaster.

Hollywood starlet Lottie Landry has returned home to celebrate her engagement. She’s famous for her on- and off-screen romance with co-star Noble, but, privately, she’s having second thoughts. As her former guardian, Ransom doesn’t approve of the match. Yet his own affections raise questions when his wife, Edith, suspects him of having an affair—just as Noble suspects Lottie. Stirred into the mix are Lottie’s friends Helen and Rex, a young journalist and football hero who can feel tension building in the Warne mansion like a shaken champagne bottle.

And once the cork pops, a body drops.

Coattails and Cocktails is where Agatha Christie meets The Great Gatsby, a whodunit spiked with new love and old baggage, public faces and private vices. Filled to the brim with romance and mystery, it’s sure to intoxicate.

Lottie held her saccharine smile for exactly two seconds after the door had banged shut behind Edith. Then she dropped her lips just as fast as she reclaimed her highball from Noble.

“Must she always be so patronizing?” With her free hand, Lottie fanned the lapel of her loose vest away from the sleeveless tennis dress beneath.

“Must you always be so attentive?” Noble cocked his head toward the lawn, his ice-blue irises particularly piercing. “Look, you’ve overheated yourself.”

Lottie turned on her heel to stare him down from head to toe. “That color doesn’t suit you. No, it doesn’t at all.”

Rolling the cuffs of his striped yellow shirt, he assessed his white vest and trousers. “I think it suits me fine.”

“I mean green. But then, jealous lover never was your strongest role.”

He stepped closer and fondled the bow hanging from her sailor collar. “Remember your place here,” he whispered firmly, then poked the skin above her neckline but once.

“I am. Everything at Belleau is mine to enjoy, too.”

“You flatter yourself, my little four-flusher.”

“As if you’re not counting on that being the case.”

Noble matched her steely stare until a throat cleared behind them.

“Lovers’ quarrel?” Ransom bellowed from the top step.

Lottie and Noble spun apart, her bow untying while still in his grip. He dropped the ribbon to give Ransom a robust pat on the shoulder. “Your little ward is only unhappy with her drink.” He seized the glass back from Lottie, leaving her to fist a now-empty hand onto her hip.

“That so?” Ransom frowned. Standing tall and broad in a cream linen suit, he stuffed his hands into his trouser pockets. “It’s not like Edith to mix a bad batch.”

“Everything’s jake, don’t worry,” Lottie said. “Just a little bitter on the tongue, that’s all.” She squinted at her costar with a wan smile as he downed her drink. “Luckily, Noble is dreadfully parched.”

“I only want to drink you in, my love.” He gave a little snort before swigging another deep sip.

Lottie clenched her fist for two beats, but willed herself to snake it around Noble’s back and slide against him. “Aw. You always deliver the right lines, baby.”

He tossed his cap away to wrap his arm around her waist, too, swinging her around to stand face to face.

“You never miss your cues either, doll.” Pressing her close, he brought his lips to where her earlobe peeked out from her bandeau. “Now stick to the script,” he murmured into the silk.

Excerpt
He gently brushed her lips with his, a light caress that took her breath away for all its sweetness and tenderness. Anna had experienced all sorts of kisses on the set of Blazing Passions from many men, most of whom had been coached on technique and style. They could all take lessons from Wyatt in the art of seduction. She moaned and pressed against him, loving the feel of his body against hers. He took that as a sign and lowered his head, his lips claiming hers in a deeper kiss, more powerful and controlling, reminding her no one had ever kissed her like he did and no one ever would. His hands dropped and lifted her, hauling her up so she could feel the press of his erection against her stomach and heat flooded her. Thank goodness, he was holding her up as her knees could no longer support her.His tongue slid alone the seam of her mouth, slipping inside to tease her, the taste of beer and cotton candy mixing for a heady cocktail. Anna’s head spun with emotions she hadn’t let herself feel in years, not since Wyatt, if she wanted to be honest. She hadn’t trusted another man since him. Not that there hadn’t been others, but not as many as the tabloids alleged, and none ever made her feel on fire as Wyatt did, as if she were burning from the inside, flaming out from the sensations. He trailed kisses along her jawline to the sensitive spot behind her ear, her head fell back, and she shuddered as chills raced down her spine. She had missed this, had missed Wyatt. She didn’t know where they were going, or even if they had gotten over the past, but nothing had ever felt more right than this moment, in his arms.Slowly, Wyatt pulled away, his breathing rough and harsh in the quiet night. He stared down at her, the intensity in his gaze pinning her in place, thrilling her, but terrifying her at the same time. What were they doing? How could she walk away from him a second time? How could she survive it?“Go to bed, Anna. Before we both do something stupid.”She fled before she could second-guess or make an even bigger mistake than kissing Wyatt. Like begging him to stay with her.

Excerpt
Almost without thinking, Anna pushed away from the security of the car and took a half step toward him. There was no mistaking Luke’s sharp inhale, nor the way his fingers readjusted their grasp to cup her elbow and jerk her close, erasing that final gap between them.
The subtle spice of his masculine cologne hit her, and, oh man, but it was utterly delicious. She wanted to press her nose to his neck and inhale, maybe even run her tongue along the outer rim of his ear before begging him to claim her mouth with his.
Her hand found the hard plane of his chest, the fabric of his cotton T-shirt bunching under her fingers. “Now who’s evading?” she taunted with a half-grin.
She still couldn’t make out his expression, so it came as a surprise when she found her back abruptly pushed up against the car again.
His hands captured her wrists, tugging them up to the hood of her car, just above her head. And, oh my God, but he made no attempt to shield his hips from hers. He was packing, that was for sure. A pistol formed exclusively for a woman’s pleasure.
He settled his hips between hers, dropping his head to her ear to rasp, “What exactly are you asking for here, Anna?”
Anna’s tongue felt swollen, clumsy. Anticipation, maybe. Five years’ worth of pent up lust, most definitely. “I told you,” she whispered, her voice sounding rough even to her own ears, “I want to meet a nice guy who will learn to love Julian.”
Though the words were true, they hung hollow in the air and he certainly caught on.
“That’s not all you want,” he said gruffly, his mouth so close to the column of her neck that as he spoke his lips rasped against her sensitive flesh, drawing out goosebumps and a shiver down her spine.
Their entire relationship had been one set after another of challenges, games. Who was she to stop that now? She shifted her lower body to better cradle his hips, making them both moan at the intimate contact. “Tell me what I want then, since you know all.”
His mouth brushed the underside of her chin. “Me.”

Jeff Emmerson and Robert Yehling - Beyond ADHD

Non-fiction - Mental HealthDate Published: August 16, 2017Publisher: Rowman & Littlefield
 photo add-to-goodreads-button_zpsc7b3c634.png

Beyond ADHD weaves Emmerson’s personal story of his ADHD diagnosis, exploring along the way the latest medical, scientific and societal explanations and tools for managing and living with the condition. Including interviews with a number of experts at the forefront of next-generation ADHD diagnostics and treatment, he questions the cookie-cutter way ADHD is commonly diagnosed and treated. Suggesting that the list of symptoms often used to identify ADHD can be attributed to many other disorders and conditions, he explores how and why ADHD diagnoses have increased by 50% in the last ten years.
Emmerson advocates a different approach to ADHD, arguing that it should be a diagnosis of exclusion rather than the other way around, and that we must look past the label, recognizing that individual symptoms vary and treatment plans should be better tailored to the individual. He examines mental and behavioral issues from all sides, including the possibility that nurturing – rather than trying to alter or suppress – the active, “360-degree” mind is a viable way for those diagnosed with ADHD to realize their gifts and lead purposeful lives.

About the Authors

AUTHOR BIO: Jeff Emmerson
From the depths of mental despair to one of social media’s premier spokespeople for mental health issues, Jeff Emmerson is a veritable “Rocky” in the field. Jeff has written for and been interviewed by some of the world’s top online magazines regarding Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), including Everyday Health (featured on AOL Health) and Additudemag. He also enjoys one of the world’s largest social media followings for a non-medical professional on the subject, with more than half a million Twitter followers and a video blog (YouTube Channel) that includes more than 200 different postings on various aspects of ADHD. Many of the top medical experts in the field, as well as specialists in behavioral therapy, vision therapy and neuroscience, regularly post and correspond with him as part of their collective goal: finding a path beyond today’s ADHD “epidemic”. Some share their perspectives in Beyond ADHD.
Born and raised in Ontario, Canada, Emmerson began speaking publicly to raise awareness of ADHD and mental health issues in 2011, following a suicide attempt and resulting ADHD diagnosis. (Three years earlier, he had lost his brother Ryan to suicide). In 2013, after another bout of suicidal ideation, he focused more greatly on his higher purpose, took to social media channels and began blogging to reach an even larger audience. He also took out an old manuscript he had written about his life, which further developed into Beyond ADHD.
Emmerson is a passionate advocate for mental health, and fostering a deeper understanding beyond the accepted symptoms that have led to more than 30 million North Americans taking ADHD medication. He seeks to come up with solutions that return society to a place of compassion, humanity, community and empathy. This perspective forms the structure of Beyond ADHD.Emmerson will be embarking on a public speaking and signing tour in Fall 2017 to draw greater awareness to the diagnostic and societal issues of ADHD, to create greater public discourse in North America and worldwide, and to roll out the many forward-thinking solutions that he and many of the world’s foremost experts on behavioral, mental health and neurological issues and conditions have been discussing and beginning to utilize.
Jeff and his wife, Aimee, Founder & CEO of a globally recognized digital marketing firm, make their home in Ontario, Canada. He was a star youth hockey player in Canada for many years, and later, worked as a security guard and in various positions. His website can be found at www.JeffEmmerson.com.

The Botanist By Dahlia Donovan

Author: Dahlia DonovanTitle: The BotanistSeries: The Sin Bin, Book 3Genre: Gay RomanceRelease Date: August 26, 2017Publisher: Hot Tree PublishingCover Designer: Claire Smith Add to TBR

ONLY 99 CENTS Amazon: http://amzn.to/2tTjjlsAll other links: books2read.com/botanist

When mistaken identity leads a young botanist into trouble, Navy SEALs come to the rescue.

Aled Demers prefers plants over people. He survives an attack in Anguilla alive but emotionally and physically scarred. Back home in Cardiff, he struggles with PTSD and his unraveling life.

Wyatt "Earp" Hardy lives for his SEAL brothers. Retiring from military service brings new challenges for him to face. The last thing he expects is for his next mission to involve falling for the much younger botanist.

If the botanist has the strength to heal, can Wyatt find the courage to love?

The short story The Botanist is book three in Dahlia Donovan's international bestselling gay romance series, The Sin Bin. Each one features hot rugby players and the men who steal their hearts.

“Are you serious about this leaving shit?” Trace sat across from him at one of their favourite bars in Coronado—McP’s Irish Pub. “I thought you’d be in until you hobbled out with no hair or teeth, clinging to your walking frame.”
“They pay you by the joke?” Wyatt flicked one of his onion rings across the table at him. “I’m done—nothing left for me to accomplish.”
“Weak sauce. Utter fucking weak sauce.” Trace leaned forward with his elbows on the table. “It’s the gay thing, isn’t it?”
Wyatt didn’t even blink in response. He waved the bartender over for another round of Guinness; Hamish had gotten all of the SEALs hooked on it. “What gay thing?”
“The fucked up policy that says you can’t serve if you’re open about who you are.” Trace pushed the plate of nachos to the side. “None of us give a shit who you fuck—or who you love.”
