Spotlight On: Love or Justice by Rachel Mannino
Laurie Shelton is the only person alive who can identify Hawaii’s most notorious mob boss…
After stumbling into a deadly kidnapping, Laurie’s life is in grave danger, and it falls to US Marshal Dante Stark to keep her safe until she testifies against Kaimi Quamboa—assuming he can be captured.
Dante knows he’ll lose his job if he becomes romantically involved with a witness…
But when he has to comfort her through constant nightmares, he finds it nearly impossible to fight his attraction to the beautiful, strong young woman he is sworn to protect. Laurie feels it too, but aware she’s in a high-stress situation and that when the danger is past she’ll never see Dante again, she tries to ignore his easygoing smile and the security he offers.
Laurie and Dante are forced to flee again…
When Kaimi’s men descend on their hideaway, they escape to a second safe house, only to be tracked down there as well. Dante now knows there’s a mole inside the US Marshal Service, and the only thing left to do is disappear.
Kaimi will never stop looking for Laurie, and if he’s caught, showing up to testify could be the last thing she ever does.
With each choice as dangerous as the next, Dante and Laurie must confront the boundaries of what they’re willing to sacrifice, and which is more important…
Love or Justice.

Excerpt
The next day, I slept in late. Then, I spent most of the day working out in the gym and in the simulator. I didn’t see Carter the whole day, but later that night, he met me at my door. A thrill ran through me as I opened my dorm room door. He was sexy as hell in blue jeans, a black shirt, and black leather boots.
Taking in his attire, I suddenly felt underdressed, although I was dress similarly in black jeans, a blue dress shirt, and black boots. I stepped out and gently closed the door behind me, feeling rested from my afternoon of sleeping in and working out.
“Ready?” he asked.
I nodded and followed him down the three flights to the garage. When we reached the Mazda RX 7, he open the passenger side door for me.
“Thanks,” I said, glad that he thought chivalry was still in.
When he closed the door behind me, it suddenly felt more like a date than a killing mission. He smiled at me as he slid into the driver’s seat and fired it up.
Suddenly, the computer on the dashboard came to life. “That is so cool.”
Carter smiled. “It’s an embedded computer that can give us directions, pull up files, and redirect us to crime scenes.” He backed the car up and then headed down the ramp. A moment later, we were out of the parking garage, roaring into the darkness of the night. “The computer also has options like cloaking, and grenade launchers. It’ll even drop spikes to pop the tires of cars following behind, and it can go up to two hundred miles per hour.”
“Wow … I love that!” I said, unable to believe what I was hearing. “Are all of the cars at the Agency like this one?”
He smiled. “Yes, they are, but this car’s the best. Now, take out the file from under the seat and speak the address clearly to the car. The tracker activates on voice command.”
I reached under the seat as he had instructed and pulled out the file. I opened it and found out that her name was Sandra Stewart, age 23, code name Candy. It was her stripper name. Go figure. She dances on the pole for a living and kills men in her spare time. It said in her file that Sandra’s father had cheated on her mother with a stripper. It was no wonder that she hunted only men.
We had to stop her from killing more.

Something’s bothering him.
And I’m going to drag it out of him, one kiss at a time if I have to.
He didn’t want to come up to my room with me, but he did, and that tells me all I need to know.
By following me up here, he conceded any chance he had at maintaining home-field advantage. Yet, based on the way he’s ravishing my mouth, he fully intends to score.
I tease him with my tongue, prodding him to let go and give in to me. He groans, nipping at my bottom lip before quickly soothing it over with his tongue. I smile against his lips, loving how his gentle side is always quick to emerge, even when he’s attacking my mouth, consumed with desire.
The elevator chimes and the door slides open, but he doesn’t stop. Instead, he walks backward with me clinging to his body, his mouth all over mine. Luckily, I made sure to have my keycard in hand before leaving the ballroom. It takes me a few tries before I’m finally able to swipe it over the automated lock, and then we crash through the door, blindly stumbling across the room before collapsing onto the bed.
“Jake!” I gasp, breaking away from him.
But he just recaptures my lips, not even giving me a chance to catch my breath.

About the Author

Collette West grew up as somewhat of a jock-nerd hybrid. Entering the world three weeks premature, her dad nearly missed her birth because he had seats behind the dugout for a sold-out, highly-anticipated match-up between two of baseball’s biggest rivals. Not to be outdone, her book-loving mom taught her how to read by the time she was three. A love of the game coupled with an appreciation for the written word were instilled in Collette’s impressionable brain from a young age. No wonder her characters believe in the philosophy: sports + romance = a little slice of heaven.
Splitting her time between the Pocono Mountains and Manhattan, Collette indulges her inner fangirl by going to as many games as she can from hockey to baseball and downloading every sports romance novel in existence onto her iPad. When she’s not clicking away on her laptop, she enjoys walking her dog in Central Park, satisfying her caffeine craving at the Starbucks on Broadway and keeping an eye out for Mr. Right. But above all, she loves dishing with her readers. Email her at collette_west@yahoo.com.

Spotlight On: Commander Henry Gallant by H. Peter Alesso
He thought Alaina loved him, but now she’s found someone else. A tidal wave of loss and grief swept over Henry Gallant, leaving him undecided about what to do next, or how to move forward.
Despite his sorrow, he goes on a dangerous mission to an invading aliens’ home world in the Gliese-581 star system. There he uses a neural interface to penetrate their communication network and steal a high ranking alien’s identity. Through this artifice he learns about their history and society, and discovers a way to hinder and possibly defeat them.
A side-effect of linking into the alien network—which was created for autistic savants—is that Gallant’s mind was stimulated and enhanced to the point where he begins to experience superintelligence abilities.
Upon returning from his mission, there is concern that Gallant might pose an even more serious threat than the aliens. While he struggles to fend off those who doubt his loyalty, he fights to win back Alaina.
This is the fourth book of The Henry Gallant Saga, but it can be read as a standalone story.

Excerpt
The peal of the church bells from the abbey tower startled Genevieve. The sound added to her mounting anxiety.
The massive abbey loomed over the stone paved path. All the nuns were at evening mass. With a bit of luck her disappearance would go unnoticed for a few more hours. The Abbess would assume she was cleaning the toilets as ordered.
Fear skittered through Genevieve when she turned away from the abbey towards the path leading to town. Nothing stirred. She hesitated. Evil emanated from the forest surrounding the abbey. With a shiver, she leaned against the solid oak gates that flanked the abbey’s main path. They had hidden her from detection for the past couple of hours, but how much longer would she be safe?
The mountain shadows grew thicker and closer.
She moved her weight from one leg to the other. They ached from so much standing, but she lacked the strength to return to the gardener’s cottage and wait for Andrew’s arrival as planned. Genevieve closed her tired eyes. The image of old Ryan, slumped dead in his chair in his cubicle, caught life in her mind and made her whole body ripple with fear.
She’d rather wait for Andrew here, outside.
Had he forgotten his promise? What if something terrible befell him during the last three days, or he had changed his mind? Why should he risk all for an ordinary nun?
Had his folks talked him into giving her up, made him see reason? Helping her out of her predicament meant a huge risk for him — losing his family, his friends and his position among his peers. His words echoed in her mind. “I will risk everything for you, even life, if necessary.”
* * * *
“Anne, Anne, wake up. Wake up, please,” the insistent voice whispered next to her ear. The touch of a hand, on her shoulder, startled Anne.
She opened her eyes, still half between sleep and reality. Her gaze stopped on a stranger, a woman, by her side.
The moon’s pale face, the only light, filtered through a small gap in the tent’s entrance; yet the stranger’s whole body emanated a kind of soft ray, a yellowish halo making her figure and face easy to discern.
A long, dark robe, similar to those worn by nuns in monasteries centuries ago, covered her body. No traditional headdress covered the woman’s red hair, which fell loosely over her shoulders in long, heavy tendrils and continued down her chest and back.
Anne stood up and studied the intruder with open curiosity. The stranger’s wax pale face looked corpse like. Anne opened her mouth to ask her who she was. She looked Anne straight in the eyes, placed her forefinger on her lips and whispered, “Hush, come. Follow me.”
Anne’s eyes widened.
The woman, moving away from the sleeping bag, appeared to glide above the ground. Her bare feet didn’t make a sound.
As if hypnotized, Anne followed the illuminated silhouette heading into the forest, without questioning her own actions.
An onrush of sensations unfamiliar to her followed. Dizziness and a malevolent feeling of unreality suffocated her. The presence of evil, creeping up and enveloping her, became almost palpable. Her throat turned dry, and she gasped for air.

Amazing Dystopian Fantasy
By Ellen P. Lafleche-Christian
I’m a big fan of fantasy fiction provided it isn’t super sweet and cute and I am so glad I read The Labyrinth Wall. The Labyrinth Wall is a great adventure with a dystopian fantasy feel. Ariana and Darith go from one exciting adventure to another which makes the book impossible to put down. There is a constant quest to learn whether there is really something better outside the labyrinth walls. If you enjoy books like The Hobbit (with a slightly lighter feel), you will definitely enjoy The Labyrinth Wall by Emilyann Girdner. I can’t wait to read the next book.

Awesome Adventure
By Desert Rose Reviews
I enjoy books about puzzles, mysteries, riddles, adventure and suspense. Some of the best books for those ingredients are stories involving a labyrinth. There aren’t many books that deliver the same kind of entertainment and excitement as a well-written labyrinth adventure. This is one such book, and is one I really enjoyed.

NEW RELEASE
