Emily Bradshaw waited over twenty years to see Connor again…
When her childhood friend, Connor Walsh, returns home to see his ailing father, Emily is elated to be reunited with the handsome man who moved to London so many years ago. But excitement fades to disappointment when he doesn’t remember her—or their first kiss. When Connor receives news that his biological father is terminally ill, he returns to Fermosa Bay, Australia.
With memories of his childhood tucked fondly in the back of his mind, returning to the small, coastal town leaves him to wonder how life would have been if his mother had never taken him away. Would he have been married and had children? Perhaps with Emily Bradshaw…
Secrets from long ago begin to unfold…
As Connor and his father grow closer, Connor learns his parents have a broken love story of their own. Will the echoes of the past lure him into staying, maybe for good? Or will he relive his parents’ tragic story and flee to London?

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

AUTHOR. CHICKEN (AND DOG) LOVER. MOTHER. WIFE. DREAMER.
I’m happily married to the love of my life (don’t gag) and raising three beautiful children in the gorgeous state of Virginia. We live just outside Washington, D.C., and every day I wake up to find myself stuck in traffic trying to get there.
The horrid commute gives me plenty of time to zone out and think about my characters in full, brilliant details (I’m a safe driver; don’t worry). Stories give me a way to forget about the sometimes smelly strangers sitting next to me on the fifty mile trek into town (I pick up hitchhikers every day. True story. Check out http://www.slug-lines.com if you don’t believe me).
I’ve been a part of organized hitchhiking for nearly fifteen years, but that’s just one small aspect of my oh-so-large life. When I’m not working, commuting, or chasing after my three children (four if you count the man), you can usually find me outside talking to my chickens like they’re the cutest things in the world (they are), or training my amazing dogs how to herd said chickens (which they love), or curled up on the sofa with a good book (why can’t that be 100% of the time?).
I hope you love my stories (or just like them a little; that would be okay, too). And I hope that one day you find your passion, because there’s nothing in life better than doing what you love while surrounded by people you love.

Interview with Theresa DaLayne, Author of the Stone Legacy Series

Author Interview with Theresa DaLayne
Did you always wanted to be a writer? If not what did you want to be?
No, not even close. In fact, in grade school I was a terrible reader and had very bad grades. I had to go through additional tutoring in order to read simple stories and struggled for years with literacy. Only when I was in high school did I fall in love with writing. It started in journalism and branched out from there.
When did you first consider yourself a “writer”?
When I read an article—can’t remember which one—that said, “If you love to write, you’re a writer. You have something important to say. Something others want to hear. Don’t ever forget that.” I had to believe that or I wouldn’t have made it through some of the struggles I faced as a self-taught writer. And you know what they say: If you think you can, or you think you can’t, you’re right.
How long did it take to get your first book published?
I wrote my first book in 2011 and it was published in 2012. It was a very accomplished moment because I’m a self-taught author with no professional training, and I was still very new to the literary industry.
Do you do another job except for writing and can you tell us more about it?
Yes. In addition to writing, I also manage an online Amazon store, and I also write the official book blurbs for Limitless Publishing. It’s a fun mix and I love it.
What is the name of your latest book, and if you had to summarize it in less than 20 words what would you say?
My most recently published book is Mayan Blood, book 1 of The Stone Legacy series. Twenty words? That’s tough. How about…Disturbed teen discovers Mayan bloodlines and faces the grueling decision of embracing her destiny or running for her life.
Who is your publisher? Or do you self-publish?
I have two fantastic publishers. Bloomsbury Spark who published my new adult contemporary romance, THE EDGE OF YOU.
Limitless Publishing has both of my series—The Stone Legacy series and a new young adult inspirational series, The Five Pillar series.
How long does it usually take you to write a book, from the original idea to finishing writing it?
I’d say about nine months. That is from an idea to a clean draft. But that’s just me. Everyone is different. It also depends on my kids’ schedule and how much extra time I have.
What can we expect from you in the future? ie More books of the same genre? Books of a different genre?
I have a ton of releases coming up, which is SO exciting!
Book 1, Mayan Blood releases 12/29
Book 2, Interlude, releases 1/12
Book 3, Lights of Aurora, releases 1/26
Book 4, Anarchy, releases 2/23
Book 5, Birthright, releases 5/19
Also, in February, I have another release of a young adult inspirational under my pen name, Theresa Mae—If All Else Fails. There will be two more books to follow.
What genre would you place your books into?
Mature young adult paranormal romance.
What made you decide to write that genre of book?
I fell in love with that genre from being an avid reader. I love diverse books and interesting, unique characters. I couldn’t imagine having started in any other genre, and I don’t see myself branching outside of the young adult or new adult genre any time soon.
How long have you been writing, and who or what inspired you to write?
I started writing in 2011, after reading a chain of heartthrob young adult books that left me feeling hollow when they were over. I started to write in journalism back in high school, but after I realized how much I hated being confined I branched out into fiction writing.
Do you have a certain routine you have for writing? ie You listen to music, sit in a certain chair?
To write I generally go upstairs after my kids are in bed and write while I’m tucked in. I like to turn on the lamp mounted to my wall, which gives a soft glow to my bedroom, and sometimes turn on the noisemaker beside my bed that mimics a thunderstorm. Other times I’ll turn on a show I’ve seen a thousand times just to have the background noise with no temptation to actually watch the show.
Do you read all the reviews of your book/books?
Yes. Some authors don’t think it’s important, and some even say they would never read their reviews with a ten-foot poll. It’s all an individual preference, but I like to hear what my readers have to say. I take their feedback under consideration and look into ways I can improve my writing.
Do you choose a title first, or write the book then choose the title?
I generally write the book first and then give it a title. I feel like you can’t really title a book until you know what it’s about. But again, that’s just me. Every author is different. Some authors I know actually start with a title and then write the book.
How do you come up with characters names and place names in your books?
I try to pick unique names that are diverse and fun. Ethnic characters are especially fun to name. Just for fun, here are some name samples from The Stone Legacy series:
Marzena—seemingly young dreamwalker
Zanya—heroine of The Stone Legacy Series and destined Stone Guardian.
Arwan—hero, timebender, and something else entirely.
Grima—Viking and petrifier (not introduced until Lights of Aurora)
Fun, huh? J
Do you decide on character traits (ie shy, quiet, tomboy girl) before writing the whole book or as you go along?
Usually I have a good idea with my main characters, but my secondary characters always take my by surprise.
Are there any hidden messages or morals contained in your books? (Morals as in like Aesops Fables type of “The moral of this story is..”)
I think the overall moral of the series is to believe in yourself, be a loyal friend, understand that everyone has different needs, wants, and desires, and not to be afraid to follow your heart. Every book does highlight its own moral or theme.
Which format of book do you prefer, eBook, hardback, or paperback?
I always love a paperback over e-book. Kindles run out of batteries. Paperbacks don’t. J
Do you think books transfer to movies well? Which is you favorite/worst book to movie transfer?
Oh gosh. It’s the million-dollar question, isn’t it? Book or movie. Movie or book?
The answer: Book. Always book.
Worst movie ever made based off a book? The Mortal Instruments movie. I saw it with my mom and was cursing under my breath when we left. So mad.
Your favorite food is?
Chocolate cake and coffee.
Your favorite singer/group is?
I love The Ataris and Taylor Swift.
Your favorite color is?
Blue. Blue. It’s the color of the ocean—I know not technically, for all you science buffs out there, but still—and it’s a lot of color with variations for my wardrobe. ;)

Interlude (The Stone Legacy #2)
by Theresa DaLayne
Limitless Publishing
Summary from Goodreads:
Tara may have spent years in an asylum, but that doesn’t make her crazy–just fearless.
Dropped in Moscow with a the group of enchanted Mayan descendants, seventeen-year-old Tara is forced to wait on the sideline while her best friend—the Stone Guardian— battles to reclaim a friend’s soul trapped in the underworld.
It sucks being ordinary when everyone else is superhuman…
A mortal girl with a tainted past, Tara is left to deal with an overwhelming sense of inadequacy. Her boyfriend, Peter, is a healer. Her best friend is The Guardian, and everyone else is a powerhouse of awesome strengths. Meanwhile, she struggles to leave her childhood of abuse in the past, and while Peter picks her up every time she falls, it becomes clear he deserves better.
When they opened Pandora’s Box, hell came pouring out…
When she’s given a chance to aid in the group’s mission, Tara is eager to pull her own weight, even if it means uncovering buried memories of being held prisoner by the underworld general. Now haunted with flashbacks of torture, Tara wanders from the safety of Peter’s arms into a city of depravity and corruption. And amidst all this evil is a young man with an agenda of his own, who leads her down a road that will either prove she is a hero at heart, or drag her into a world she’s always feared.
He wants revenge, she wants redemption. And in an underground ring of missing girls and bloody sacrifices, only the fearless can survive…

About the Author
Theresa DaLayne is a north-south-east-western kind of girl with a quirky personality to match her nomad life. Born in California, she migrated to three different cities in Washington State, a tiny island in Alaska, North Carolina, and finally to the suburbs of Ohio where she currently lives with her husband, three kids, vegetarian cat, and her ungrateful fish.
Always on the lookout for a new story, Theresa is a shameless eavesdropper and will take anyone who provides inspiration and mold them into a character without a second thought. She enjoys writing both paranormal and contemporary stories, considering her mind wanders between worlds of fantasy while she’s forced to live in the real world, very much against her will.

Excerpt
The door wrenched open before Daisy could knock again.
“Who the hell are you?” someone snarled, but all Daisy could see were the man’s muscles.
Oh, God, she was salivating. Was that a six-pack? A ten-pack? The man definitely had washboard abs. She should have been a physiology major. Her gaze skimmed across bare abs and broad shoulders that blocked her view of the room behind him.
Not that she had much interest in anything beyond the living, breathing, Renaissance sculpture standing in front of her. Even the scar on the man’s left deltoid just added interest instead of marring his otherwise perfect appearance.
This guy. Her dream came back to her in a blur. This was the one who could push her back against the nearest wall, tell her what to do, and leave her begging for more.
Unfortunately, he was taken and pissed.
Daisy flushed as she took in his broad—clenched—jaw and sharp green eyes. His golden cheeks were flushed with anger, his lush lips pulled back in a frozen snarl.
“Adams.” Daisy mumbled. “Daisy Adams.”
A firm handshake was the key to making a good first impression. Bullet had taught her that.
Daisy stuck out her hand.
The guy didn’t move. He was too busy staring at her raven curls and—yep, Daisy flushed in realization—counting sheep pajamas. They might not be sexy, but they were her favorites. It wasn’t like everyone could roll out the door movie-star perfect in faded blue jeans slung across muscular hips.
A trail of golden hair ran down his chest before disappearing under a button fly.
Damn. She loved a button fly.
“I’m Daisy Adams,” she said, trying again. “That’s my name. I’m staying next door.”
“Uh huh.” Two syllables. Not even a real word.
“This is a hotel,” she said. “And it’s late. I don’t know exactly what time it is, but it’s very, very late.”
He raised his hand to show a heavy metal watch. The timepiece was utilitarian and built to withstand a lot of abuse. The dark metal clasped over golden skin and…was that a freckle on his wrist? When did freckles get so sexy?
“It’s not late,” the guy rumbled.
“You’re kidding, right?”
His lips twitched slightly, the ends turning up in a wry smile. “It’s not late. It’s early. It’s five o’clock in the morning.”
“The morning,” Daisy replied, deadpan. Forget getting back to sleep. It was less than an hour and a half before her multiple alarm clocks were set to go off. She might as well hop in the shower, throw on some clothes, and start praying to the closest benevolent god that she wasn’t about to make a fool of herself.
Or—worse—get Bullet killed. He hadn’t been too specific about the casino’s problems, but cheating in Las Vegas—with its security guards and surveillance equipment—was a fool’s game. It wouldn’t be the first time for con men to turn violent when cornered.
“Are you sure your watch is right?”
“At least twice a day.”

Spotlight On: Pierce by Jolie Du Pre
Paranormal Romance
Date Published: December 5, 2015
As fanged creatures run rampant throughout the city after sunset, the life of a young African-American woman named Alicia starts to take a dark turn that may also plunge her right into the arms of her one true love. Between all the bloodlust, deceit, heartbreak, and the taking of innocent human lives, romance and the strong bonds of friendship still prevail. But it’s a notoriously crazy vampire like Bess that has made it her eternal life’s purpose to dim that sliver of light until she gets the one thing she truly wants: Dagon. With Bess’s reckless, unrequited pursuit to make him 100% hers, who will have to pay with their lives in the process? Friendships will be tested, relationships will be challenged, and humanity will be abandoned. All in the name of love and vampiric desires.
EXCERPT
After Alicia had finished with her side work, she returned to the restaurant’s dining room. There, sitting at Table 9, just like before, was Dagon.
“Your man is here,” said Susan. Susan was a vibrant redhead who loved to gab with Gail. It was obvious that Gail had filled her in.
“Yes, I know. I see him.”
“He’s so hot. We never get any hot young things in here. Why don’t you let me wait on him tonight?”
Alicia laughed. “No way. He’s a really good tipper, and I need the money.” Even if Dagon hadn’t tipped her one hundred dollars last night, she wasn’t going to let Susan steal the moment she had been waiting for.
Susan rolled her eyes. “His name is Dagon, right?”
Alicia felt her chest tense up. “Yeah, how did you know that?”
“I told him how cute he was, and I asked him his name.”
“Oh.”
“You’re not mad, are you?”
“No, why would I be mad?” Alicia turned her head away. She was mad, very mad, but when she looked over at Table 9 again, she saw Dagon smiling at her with the same enticing look he had on his face before.
“Slip him my number, okay?”
Alicia turned around. “What?”
“Would you please give him my number?” Susan shoved a small piece of paper into Alicia’s apron pocket.
“You’ve got to be kidding me.”
“I’m serious, and I’m sure Dagon would go out with me if he knew I wanted to go out with him.”
Alicia reached into her pocket and handed the paper back to Susan. “No.”
“Just give it to him, okay? Tell him it’s from the hot redhead. Would you do that for me, please?”
“Why don’t you do it yourself? I’m not your messenger.”
“I don’t want to interrupt him, especially because you won’t let me wait on him.”
Alicia pushed the note back in her pocket. “Yeah, whatever.” She poured a cup of coffee and headed to his table, leaving Susan standing there.
“Hey, Alicia. It’s so good to see you again.”
Alicia tried not to smile too wide. “Hi. I brought you coffee. Do you want it?”
“Sure.”
Alicia set the coffee down, at which point Dagon handed her another one-hundred-dollar bill.
“Thank you so much.” Alicia tried not to beam. If he wanted to throw hundreds at her, she wasn’t about to complain. She dug into her pocket. “Here’s a note for you. It’s from the redhead who’s staring at us.”
Dagon glanced at the note and then dropped it on the table. He looked at Alicia again. “You’re as gorgeous today as you were yesterday.”
“Thank you.”
Dagon didn’t say anything more. He just stared, seemingly pleased with what he saw. It made Alicia almost melt into herself. He didn’t seem to care at all about Susan or her note.
“Is it just the coffee again?”
“Yes. I’ll enjoy watching you work.”
“Okay. I’ll be back to check on you.” Alicia hurried away to serve her other tables, her heart racing.
She had to leave the dining room to pick up her orders that were ready. But when she came back, Dagon was gone.

Excerpt
Ghosts are supposed to be the tortured spirits of those who cannot let go of their earthly existence. If they could be convinced to follow the light, they’d leave behind said earthly existence and quit scaring the bejesus out of the poor folks who run across them. That’s what all those “ghost hunter” shows on television tell us.
Let me tell you something. The living don’t know jack about the dead.
Not this dead chick, anyway.

ONE WILD NIGHT . . .
Widowed & lonely, Bridget O’Shaughnessy Black indulges herself in a night of pleasure.
After all, she’s in disguise. And the baby girl? An unexpected blessing…until an old flame claims the child as his own to force Bridget to marry him.
ONE DETERMINED LADY. . .
Many women pursued Colin Warren, but only one climbed in his bedchamber window. When Bridget does it for the second time, she doesn’t have fun in mind. Colin is unfit to be a parent, and yet he has no choice but to acknowledge the little girl.
RISKING EVERYTHING FOR LOVE
Circumstances force Bridget and Colin together, yet grave differences divide them. Can love bridge the chasm that keeps them apart?

Bridget shouldn’t let herself smile at Colin, because that invited a smile in return. The kind with dimples and a hunger that reached his eyes.
Probably reached hers, too, so she sighed and turned away. Yearning to touch him had become a physical ache, and even a brush of his hand, much less a boost on her derriere, made it a thousand times worse.
They wouldn’t catch up to the others tonight, but tomorrow, once the rain was over, they would find an alternate route. One more night of self-control…
She was a fool to want him, but she couldn’t help it. What had come over her? Suddenly, stupidly, she was willing to risk another illegitimate child by him.
They were almost at the inn. She dreaded another restless night. She needed something to distract her. “Where are those apples? The horses deserve a treat.”
Colin passed her the basket. She took four of the wrinkled apples. They pulled up in front of a battered old building with weathered timbers and dormers peeking from under a thatched roof. No eager servant came rushing out of the inn to greet them.
“House!” Colin bellowed, opening the coach door. Without bothering to let down the steps, he took Bridget by the waist and lifted her down into the rain. This time his hands didn’t linger. “Hurry up and give them the damned apples. Let’s get out of this bloody rain.”
“Would you stop fussing?” she cried. “We’ll catch up to Martin eventually.”
“That’s not what I’m fussing about,” he snapped, heading for the rear of the coach. Bridget offered apples to the wheeler and leader on one side and then stalked around to treat the others.
A spare, grizzled man limped out of the inn. “Come in, come in,” he said, but his eyes widened at the sight of Colin, in his wet but obviously costly clothing, unearthing two valises from the boot. “I’m that sorry, sir, but I don’t have accommodation for the likes of you.”
“Does your roof leak?” Colin demanded. “Do the fireplaces smoke?”
“No sir, but—”
“Will the horses be warm and dry too?” Bridget piped up, and suddenly she began to shiver.
“Aye, the stables is fine,” the landlord said.
“Then we’ll do fine, too.” Colin dropped the valises on the doorstep. “Warm and dry is all we ask, and I’ll pay handsomely for it.”
A stout lady in an old-fashioned mobcap appeared in the doorway. “What are you waiting for, Stan? I’ll light a fire in the guest chamber. Let the gentleman and his missus in before they catch their deaths.”
*Oh, dear.*
The landlord still seemed uneasy. “I’m sorry, sir, but we’ve only the one small guest room, and not even a private parlor.”
“We’ll do fine,” Bridget and Colin said simultaneously. Their hands touched and twined together. Clung together, as if one or the other of them—or both—was afraid the other would let go. Or as if they were about to plunge off a cliff and holding on for dear life.
Bridget’s heart began to pound. She slid her gaze surreptitiously toward Colin. He wasn’t looking at her but rather straight ahead. A drop of water rolled from his wet hair, over his brow, and down to his upper lip. His tongue flicked out and licked it up.
Desire roared through her. She shuddered. His right dimple appeared, but so briefly she almost didn’t see it.
The landlady bustled away, and the landlord grabbed the valises. “Just you follow me, then. I’m Stan Butterworth, and that’s my rib, Martha.” He led them through the taproom. “You’ll want to change out of them wet clothes first of all, and then we’ll see to your supper.” He preceded them up a narrow flight of stairs. “My Martha’s a right good cook, and we had mutton stew to our dinner, but it won’t be what you’re accustomed to.”
“I’m sure it will be delicious,” Bridget managed. Could food possibly have been farther from her mind?
“It can get right rowdy in here on a fair evening,” Mr. Butterworth said, “but we won’t have much custom tonight, what with the storm and all. You’ll have a peaceful sleep.”
Colin made a sound between a snort and a laugh, but he didn’t let go of her hand.

Winner of the Holt Medallion, Maggie, Daphne du Maurier, Reviewer’s Choice and Epic awards, Barbara Monajem wrote her first story at eight years old about apple tree gnomes. She published a middle-grade fantasy when her children were young. When they grew up, she turned to writing for grownups, first the Bayou Gavotte paranormal mysteries and then Regency romances with intrepid heroines and long-suffering heroes (or vice versa). Some of her Regencies have magic in them and some don’t (except for the magic of love, which is in every story she writes).
Barbara loves to cook, especially soups, and is an avid reader. There are only two items on her bucket list: to make asparagus pudding and succeed at knitting socks (or maybe tea cozies). She’ll manage the first but doubts she’ll ever accomplish the second. This is not a bid for immortality but merely the dismal truth (hence the tea cozies, which she hasn’t tried yet). She lives near Atlanta, Georgia with an ever-shifting population of relatives, friends, and feline strays.
