_____________
Excerpt
Sheila gave him an amused look and shrugged as Cassandra tugged her toward the house. Rick watched them make their way back up the stone path, enjoying the sexy sway of her heart-shaped ass under her curve-hugging skirt. The sound of their feminine laughter floated back to him. He was glad to see Sheila relaxed and happy.
When Cassandra opened the door and ushered her inside Sheila glanced back over her shoulder and met his gaze. The dazzling smile she gave him before the door closed behind her sent his blood thrumming.
The sound of chuckling caught his attention and he turned back to find all three men watching him with matching smirks.
“What?” Rick asked defensively. But he knew what. He had it bad for Sheila. They’d caught him staring after her like some adolescent schoolboy.
Nate chuckled, and J.D. snorted.
Jake arched a brow. “So, what’s up with you and Sheila?”
“Nothing’s up,” Rick said, feeling frustration churning in his gut. He rubbed the back of this neck and shot a glance toward the house. “At least not yet . . . but not for lack of trying on my part.”

5 Things You Didn’t Know About FULL STEAM AHEAD
1. Why did I set Full Steam Ahead on a cruise ship? Well, I live in the rather un-tropical city of Washington, DC and so I thought it would be awesome to live vicariously through my characters!
2. I guess you could say that Full Steam Ahead was born at the Olive Garden. During lunch with a good friend, I told her about an idea I had for a book—an NA romance set on a cruise. We spent the rest of our meal brainstorming plot ideas and character motivations!
3. The character of Yasmin, Georgia’s best friend, was so much fun to write. I initially intended her to be a minor character but I fell in love with her voice. Not surprisingly, my next book will be Yas’ story!
4. I love coming up with my character’s names. I chose Georgia because I wanted a name that was sweet and southern. And I chose Jace because it simply sounded sexy.
5. I’ve always wanted to be a writer but it took me a long time to complete my first book—which is Full Steam Ahead. I hope you enjoy it!

Summary from
Goodreads:

I’m Valerie
but please feel free to call me Val. I live in the Washington, DC area; and I
write New Adult romance. I’m hoping to publish my first novel (set on a cruise
ship!) in late 2013.
As for my writing, I love sexy banter and guys whose hearts are in the right
place, even if their heads sometimes aren’t. I love discovering strong, awesome
characters, putting them in entertaining situations, and watching them argue
their way to love.

Interview: Daniel Danser, author of The God Particle
Welcome today to Daniel Danser, author of The God Particle, currently available for free download for a limited time!
___________________
1. What do you write about? Tell us a little about your previously published works or works in progress. - I would classify my novel, The God Particle as science fiction based on science fact. I do a lot of research to ensure the plot stands up to the harshest scrutiny – is it feasible? Is it credible? I’m not into spaceships and aliens, I leave that to the fantasists. Mines more of a conspiracy, action and adventure type novel.
2. How do you handle bad reviews? – Not very well I have to admit. Like most authors my novel is a product of blood, sweat and tears, so if somebody criticizes my book I take it personally.
3. Tell us a little about your work in progress. - I will be writing a sequel but at the moment I’m concentrating all my efforts into marketing the book.
4. Any advice for aspiring writers? – Yes – persevere. It’s not all about putting the words down on paper. You have to think about how it’s going to be published and once it is (whether self or through an agency) how you will market it. That’s the hard part because there are a lot of books out there competing for the readers attention.
5. What is your personal writing process? – I like to write what I consider perfect prose. I hate having to go back and correct something that I’ve written, it disrupts my flow. Consequently I may only write two thousand words a day but at least I know they’re grammatically correct.
6. Who are a few authors you look up to? – I’m old school when it comes to favorite authors: Frederick Forsyth, John le Carré, Tom Clancy, Stephen King, John Grisham.
7. What book are you reading now? – The latest ‘ít’ book – Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn. Very interesting, can’t imagine where it will go.
8. What inspired you to write your first book? – I wrote the book because I had a great idea for a film and wanted to pitch it to the main studios but as I did my research I found out that it wasn’t that easy – there was no protection. They could take your idea, mine it for the stuff they wanted and discard the rest. That way they don’t have to pay you a cent. So by publishing a book you are at least copyright protected.
9. What books have most influenced your life most? – I love all of Dan Brown’s novels although I have to say that I don’t think his latest one is as good as his others.
10. If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your latest book? – No, definitely not. I’m not the type of author that can go back and rewrite chapters or passages. Where do you stop?
11. What do you find particularly challenging about writing? – I need total solitude, peace and quite when writing. Something that my wife finds annoying. Consequently, some days I can write, others there isn’t the right environment for me to do so (I’m trying to be tactful in case my wife reads this interview)
12. If there was one message you could send to everybody who reads your books, what would it be? - Although the book is a work of fiction there are a lot of ‘what-ifs’ in there to make the reader think – ‘What if there’s something behind the spate of so called natural disasters we’ve seen recently?’ ‘What if humanity has reached a tipping point of developing technology so profound, that it can destroy the human race?’ ‘What if the motives for scientific discovery are not necessarily for the benefit of mankind?’
13. Have you ever used characteristics from someone you know in one of your books? – Always – why invent characters when there are so many larger-than-life characters around you?
14. What inspires you to write? – I suppose it’s the entertainer in me. I want to create something that will be liked by thousands if not millions of people around the world.
15. Where can readers find you and your work? - The novel is published by Aventura in e-book format and is available from all major e-book retailers:

Before Xia had the chance to answer, an extremely bubbly blond dressed in
a Santa hat knocked loudly on our table. I found the gesture not only odd, but
unbelievably annoying.
“Hi guys,” she started, without any observance for our former
conversation. “I’m Brittany and I’m collecting donations for ‘Change for
Jesus.’ Get it?” Her resulting chuckle was so condescending that I had to
suppress my desire to punch her.
“Anyway, this year the Christian students have teamed up together to
collect money to renovate an old church somewhere in the city. We’ve collected
over three thousand dollars just on campus. Will you donate?”
I smiled. “The money is going to renovate a church? Not feed the hungry
or clothe the poor?”
A look of complete seriousness fell over her face, “By helping Christians
here you help Christians everywhere.”
“We aren’t interested,” Xia glared sharply.
“But Thanksgiving is just a few days away,” Brittany pointed to her Santa
hat like she was making some sort of coherent statement, “now is the time for
giving.”
Her sugary-ness was too sweet to handle.
“We don’t believe in Jesus. Xia’s Wiccan, and I’m not religious,” I said
tersely.
Brittany’s eyes grew big, but not in shock or surprise… I was pretty sure
it was anger.
“But without Jesus you cannot be saved, for no man can enter the kingdom
of God but by him. He performed many miracles, healing the sick and turning
water into wine—”
“Here,” I interrupted, reaching for my cup. “Will tea do?” I shook the
cup three times, and peeled back the lid. Alcoholic dregs slid slowly back down
the sides. “Now it’s wine. See? Nothing special.”
Brittany wasn’t fazed. “It was always wine.”
I reached for Xia’s cup angrily. She graciously traded me for the wine
and snickered.
I repeated the trick, this time showing Brittany the tea first. When I
showed her the transformed liquid, she glared at me with cougar-like intensity.
“You dare mock God?” she
screamed loudly enough that half of the cafeteria stopped to stare, and the
other half, wondering why the whole place just went silent, stared too.
“Yup,” I replied, as matter-of-factly as I could. I wasn’t upset or
annoyed anymore. This was actually sort of fun.
Brittany took one step backward and pointed a finger at us. “He will
judge you,” she said, shaking uncontrollably. She glared at us a moment longer
as if trying to leave us with a lasting impression of guilt before she then
turned and stormed off.
“Too bad she didn’t cry,” Xia said, chuckling, once Brittany was out of
earshot.
“If she would have, I might have felt bad. I don’t mind religious people,
it’s the hypocrites I can’t stand.”
Xia took a sip of wine, her eyes deviously questioning.
“Brittany, for example,” I continued, “really, really, enjoys her fornication.”
Xia’s brilliant smile flashed before her mouth burst open into
uncontrollable laughter. “How could you possibly know that?” she chided.
I grinned back. “The wind told me.”
Xia hiccupped and then held up the glass of wine. “Just for future
reference, I would have preferred a cabernet.”

I’ve often been accused of having done more in my life than the average person my age but if I were completely honest, I’d have to tell you my secret: I’m really 392.
So after all this time, I’m a pretty crappy writer.
I have two books published and a bunch half written (when you have eternity, where’s the reason to rush?). I’ve been favorably reviewed by horror greats like Nancy Kilpatrick, and my how-to-write-horror articles have been quoted in scholarly (aka community college freshmen’s) papers.
I enjoy the occasional Bloody Mary, although a Bloody Kathy or Susan will suffice.
Mostly, I just try to keep a low profile so people don’t figure out who I REALLY am.

Romance Novels: Not Only White Guys Are Sexy. A Guest Blog by Dylan Madrid
Romance Novels: Not Only White Guys Are Sexy
A Guest Blog by Dylan Madrid
One of the elements of my writing that often generates the most feedback from readers is the different ethnicities of my characters, specifically the love interest of my protagonist. To call my work multicultural is accurate. As a reader of literature by diverse authors featuring characters from all walks of life, I made a commitment to myself early on to not “white wash” my novels. To create an imaginary literary universe that is populated solely by one race or ethnic group is not only unrealistic – it can alienate many readers.
So often people are seeking representation of their own lives (and loves) in the novels they read. I know I certainly do when I’m looking for something new to read. Therefore, when I sit down to create the hot, sexy object of desire that my main character is lusting after – rarely is that character Caucasian. Many readers ask why. Others have shared with me the very reason they read my work is because of the diversity of my sexy male characters.
The why is simple to answer: people interest me. I am far more fascinated with different cultures, races, traditions, communities, and ethnicities than my own. I’m a curious soul who loves to explore new, unknown territory, where I hope to find intriguing people to write about. My own life is rich and colorful, filled with an ever-growing multitude of close friends (and even new relatives who have married into my Canadian-American family) who enhance my days with more potential writing material than I could ever dream of.
But, since I write romance novels: let’s talk about the men.
In Mind Fields, college student Adam Parsh is torn between the lust he feels for his wealthy, married employer (an Greek tycoon named Dario Vassalo) and the growing love he can’t deny for his classmate (a Mexican-American artist named Victor Maldonado). Of course I can’t give away who Adam chooses – or why – but I can tell you that both the characters of Victor and Dario (and the Vassalo family) serve as cultural informants (a term coined by one of my former college professors at Columbia College in Chicago). Just by being a part of Adam’s world, they enrich his life by exposing him to cultural and ethnic differences. They broaden his mind – and in true romance novel form – his heart.
In my new novel Love in the Shadows, Quintin Pearson, a lonely American living in London, has a hot affair with an Italian spy named Luca Russo. To prepare for writing the novel, I enrolled in a Wednesday night Italian class held in the parish office at a local Catholic church. The students were all women, mostly Italian. Their stories – and they phrases I learned – definitely helped while writing the novel. I kept going back to an important question: would Luca Russo be half as sexy on page if he wasn’t Italian? I knew the answer early on in the creative process: No. He wouldn’t. He had to be Italian. And, by being so, it made him all that much more desirable.
In my upcoming novel Backstrokes, a classical pianist named Crawford Paul falls in love with a Latino lifeguard named Armando Leon. Before I even sat down to write the first sentence of the novel, I knew that in order for Crawford to fall head over heels – he needed to meet someone who was very opposite and because of this, his curiosity would get the best of him. In the end, the stark differences between the two characters of Crawford and Armando (physically, culturally, and even life experiences) are what create the unbreakable bond between them.
So, in the end, I have found a new truth that is alive and working in every novel I write: Not only white guys are sexy. Many readers – and authors such as myself – have realized that the world is a fascinating, diverse place to live in. The novels we write and read should reflect that.

In Remembrance of Future Present
by Lisa Gabriel
Book Blurb
In Remembrance of Future Present seems an odd title, doesn’t it? It comes from the poet’s sense of timelessness both in her life during the period these poems were written and also from a belief that all time coexists. These were poems written over an intense period of reflection. Written quickly and shared with love they reveal the workings of an inner self in a struggle to break free. In this new edition, you will find poems that rhyme and poems that don’t, poems that are sentimental and those that are descriptive. Above all Lisa’s poems display an honesty and a vulnerability together with a musicality that speaks directly to the reader.
