Book Review: MOSAIC
Hello Poetteers,
It feels like coming home, but to a crazy whirlwind. It's great to see how their lives are twenty years later.
I love the journals. But I also miss getting to know Juliet and the adult version of Anna and the others. I do love Jules occasional commentary.
Reaching the end of the journals I'm happy to be back at present day. The set up reminds me of book two. The plot seems to come full circle. But it's still it's own unique story.
Once I finished reading I felt relief for getting what I want but sad it's over. Afterwards I put my earphones in. I listened to Crush by David Archuleta. I think it goes well, if not perfectly with the book.
Love, Fida

TBT: Review of Shoofly Pie
Hello Poetteers,
I was looking through all my old stuff and purging it all. Before I do I want to share a review I wrote for school I n 10th grade. It sounds like a younger me with chopper sentences and I don't get some of it. But enjoy!
Recently I've read 'Shoofly Pie' by Naomi Shibab Nye. This story has lots of diversity in foods. In this story I choose Mattie. I chose her because when I read the story I saw similarities with her.
Mattie is a quiet girl. In this story she copes with the death of her mother. She is an American of Arab decent. To keep herself busy she decides to work at a restaurant. With her she brings some new ideas. One is to bring recipes from home like falafel sandwiches and lentil soup. Mattie is quiet but can be friendly once you know her and so am I.
There are some similarities and differences between me and Mattie. I am from Arab decent but I also am from Asian decent. I've tried lentil soup and falafel which also makes us alike. One thing different is that I cope with sorrow by writing. Another thing is I've never cooked anything but I'm learning and soon to be able to help.
I chose Mattie from 'Shoofly Pie' because of the similarities and differences we have. I also liked this story because it's full of diversity. I also like who I am just like the story.
I read this short story in my textbook, so I don't know where else you can find it. I hope you do!
Love and thank you, Fida

Book Review: BROKEN BRANCH FALLS
Hello Poetteers,
This story tackles discrimination and overcoming it. It's a lighthearted, funny story with sibling love, friendships and a romance subplot with goblins, ogres, pixies and more.
I love the descriptions given. I think there are even some slight old folklore references.
I also love the illustrations in the book. It's a story filled with plans and adventures. It's also the first in a middle grade series. I can't wait for the second book. I already know some kids who would really love this! It will be available for purchase on Jun 24, 2014. Add to Goodreads

Hello Poetteers,
My birthday is in a few days and in honor of it I thought I would talk about my two favorite things. Chocolate and books! Thanks to Violet for the inspiration! You can find the original here.
No. 1 - Dark Chocolate; a book that covers a dark topic. (abuse, rapel, violence, etc.)
No. 2 - White Chocolate; your favorite light-hearted, humorous read.
No. 3 - Milk Chocolate; a book that has a lot of hype that you're dying to read.
No. 4 - Chocolate with a Caramel Center; a book that made you feel all gooey in the middle when you were reading it.
No. 5 - Wafer Free Kit-Kat; name a book that surprised you lately.
No. 6 - Snickers; a book that you are going nuts about.
No. 7 - Hot Chocolate with Cream and Marshmallows; what book would you turn to for a comfort read?
No. 8 - Box of Chocolates; what series have you read that you feel has a wide variety and a little something for everyone?
Love and thank you, Fida

Book Unhaul: PROPHECY OF THE SISTERS
Hello Poetteers,
An ancient prophecy divides two sisters- One good... One evil... Who will prevail? Twin sisters Lia and Alice Milthorpe have just become orphans. They have also become enemies. As they discover their roles in a prophecy that has turned generations of sisters against each other, the girls find themselves entangled in a mystery that involves a tattoo-like mark, their parents' deaths, a boy, a book, and a lifetime of secrets. Lia and Alice don't know whom they can trust. They just know they can't trust each other. (Goodreads)
Looking at my bookshelf I love all the books I have, but I'm losing space. I don't want to give any of them up. But this one book was screaming at me. I picked it up once and didn't finish it. And I forgot about it. Then I was doing a purge of my stuff. I thought of donating the book. I tweeted about it and lots of people said to keep it, so I did. I tried reading it again and didn't get anywhere.
Tomorrow my neighborhood is doing a garage sale and I'm participating. I'll be selling book. Fingers crossed I don't have to see it again. It daunts me. It daunts me even more knowing it's a series.
I'm more of a contemporary reader than a fantasy/paranormal/dystopian reader, I'm slowly getting into it though. I love UNWIND and CINDER.
So yeah, thanks for reading.

What's up Wednesday
Hello Poetteers,
What I'm Reading:
I finally read and finished IF I STAY. I can't wait to read the sequel! In place of a review, I of course, poemed my thoughts on the book.
I also read BORN CONFUSED. I gave it five stars. I know I'll be rereading it. It's a big book and I missed some things. Also it's going to have a sequel. I'm excited. I really love the world it shows.
I'm finally going to attempt to read THE KITE RUNNER.
What I'm Writing:
The usual. DECIDING HIJAB and MAYBE LOVING YOU. I have made an official announcement already but it didn't get much buzz. I'm self publishing a third poetry collection this summer!
What Inspires Me Right Now:
Spring cleaning!
Love and thank you, Fida
