February, a 28 day Slater…

My 48th birthday was February 15th. I feel very blessed this month, a year after releasing my first novel. Hoping that saying something out loud doesn’t ruin it… I have sold a piece of writing for everyday of this month. Yes. 28 sales. Split between pre-sales on Toils and Snares, All Is Silence in print and in all three major e-book markets, two copies of Just Desert and one copy of the Outward Bound Collection. That doesn’t come close to matching the first few months All Is Silence the first...

Fourth Wall Friday, Toils and Snares Presale, RADCON 6C

A few random items at the last minute. I have a couple other blog posts in the works, but nothing is finished and one I wrote in January is already inaccurate. Sheesh… Time is flying. Oh, and Sunday is my 48th birthday. “Not to fifty….!” Fifty will be fine.
I had an absolute blast last month writing a guest story for Fourth Wall Friday, monthly blog-post that lets author orcharacter walk through the fourth wall and interact. You can read my story, “You’re the author, get your own damn coffee.”...

All Is Silence – 1 year anniversary

A year ago today I became a published author with the e-book release of All Is Silence. I’ve been a published writer for years, but until this novel came out it only felt like a hobby. In August of 2013, I released Outward Bound, an e-book collection of mostly previously published stories and poetry with science fiction themes. That was intended to be a warm-up for releasing the novel. It went well.
I have big plans for 2015, and every year after that! The news isn’t all good for Indie authors...

Reflection on 2014 goals and renewal, revision and recreation of Goals for 2015.

How do I follow up a year like 2014? To finally be able to call myself not only a writer, but a published Author, has been a dream for decades and a goal since 1991. That was one small part of 2014!
2015 looks to be a challenging year for all authors, as the industry continues to flex and flux to maximum capacity. My overarching goal for 2015 is to beat all the records I made for myself in 2014: get more words written, more stories and books published on more platforms. Develop my web presence...

Coming to the end of 2014! Thanks and more…

Looking forward to 2015 as we wrap up 2014!
What’s to come? 2014 was amazing for me as an author. It was everything I hoped for, if not everything I dreamed of. Where is that contract for the foreign rights, and the option on the screenplay?
Seriously, I hit some top ten lists, got reviewed by Don Sakers for Analog magazine, won an award, rubbed elbows literarily with Veronica Roth and Scott Westerfield and literally with Hugh Howie, who complimented my pagination! In addition to Hugh, I met M...
