Time Pressure and a Turkish Translation…

Well… Time pressure is upon me. I’ve got deadlines coming up and time to meet them. Will I have the stubbornness to keep my nose to the literary grindstone and git ‘er done? I’m planning on it, but next time, I am not setting a date for the release before I have the beta copy in my hot little hands. Really. I’m serious this time.

It’s not easy being an optimist. And I seem fairly incurable in that area. If I fall on my face this time, perhaps it will teach me a lesson. But I’m still thinking...

On Video: Changes ~ Author Conversations

Thanks to Sally Ember for a lovely and informative intro to Hangouts On Air. Check out her website if you are any kind of author and would like to participate. Too many, “uh, um,” kinds of pauses. But that’s what happens when things are completely unscripted, no?

Surfacing… Come see me in my 1st ever Hangout next week…

Three weeks mostly off the grid. When I left for Italy on June 23rd, my phone remained at the YVR, the Vancouver airport. So with no smart-phone and inconsistent/non-existent internet, I managed a few hours over the course of the last three weeks. I spent thosekeeping the e-mail pile from from overflowing, uploading a chapter [unsuccessfully] on Wattpad and posting a few photos and a tweet or two.

After about seven hours, I am mostly caught up. ALL IS SILENCE and STRAIGHT INTO DARKNESS have r...

Heading STRAIGHT INTO DARKNESS…

“Real love is a man’s salvation, the week ones fall the strong carry on…” ~Tom Petty from the song,STRAIGHT INTO DARKNESS.

Had lots of real love over the last week or so. It did make everything better. But I am tired. The hardest end of aschool year ever. I’ve been getting a lot of writing/editing done this week as well as grading and cleaning. Also managed a visit to Village Books 35th Anniversary Party.

Buying a Dan Wells, a S.M. Stirling and a Connie Wilson at Village Books 35th anniversary...

Figuring things out for August and everything after.

As I sit, still slightly befuddled by the week just passed, I ponder the long term. In the wake of the deaths of two of my students and two more greviously injured, I don’t know what my summer will look like.

I still have big goals: finishing STRAIGHT INTO DARKNESS is the biggest. The book release party is scheduled for August 28th at Village Books. It’s up for pre-sale on Amazon. PLEASE don’t buy it yet! I need to have the final electronic mobi ebook file uploaded by the 9 pm PST, August 8th...

Sad news for my high school and community.

[Cross-posted elsewhere.] I lost two of my students and two others are in the hospital in critical condition–a senseless accident. Please, hug your kids, your friends, your parents. Tell them you love them.

If you want to help, please check out this link:http://robslater.com/?p=133. Thanks. Rob

Why I Wattpad – Part III

This was going to be my mostly final wrap up on WP100KCh1PIWattpad, but I haven’t gotten all the data I need for that wrap up. Since I have recently been sort of slapped in the face by an obvious Wattpad rule that I should have known, as well as, discovered some really cool benefits, I will do Part III today. When I have been on Wattpad a year, August 10, 2015, I will do a retrospective and let you know… That will probably be Why I Wattpad – Part IV.

How much should one be allowed to complain about a ser...

What comes around… Mad Max lyrics from 1982

Crossposted to my personal blog.

I haven’t been able to shoehorn the time into my schedule to go see the New Mad Max movie, but I am anticipating the event something fierce. So, for a bit of a flashback, here are some song lyrics I wrote in Mr. Gregory’s Geometry class at Hoquiam High School. Since my 30th reunion is coming up this summer, I’m thinking a lot about those days.

These are from the embarrassing lyrics era, but transcend that trend a little. Derivative? Hells yes, but fun. Sort o...

3W: Weird Wiki Request, Winning on Wattpad & Writer Worries…

WIKIPEDIA: This is a weird request for me. As I ready myself to release my second novel, I feel like I should have wikipedia entry, so people can find me and I believe it also gives an air of respectability! Since the first novel has one some awards, has decent sales, and the newer works are also getting good press, I think it is time. I know I could write it myself, but that feels even more weird than asking for someone else to do it! If you are a wikipedia editor, know one or would like to...
