Website

It is only fair that I try to give my Amazon readers in particular and all readers everywhere my sincere apologies My own website www.liamleddy.com apparently has been out of action for some months now. I can only reveal this today 9th Feb 2020 because I only discovered it myself yesterday!
It explains a recent drop in my sales on Amazon and on Kindle in particular. I can only apologise profusely to my readers and assure them and everyone else that www.liamleddy.com is now coming back better than ever within the next 48 hrs!
I write and I blog sure but techy stuff escapes me and always has. Sorry once more and know that you will see wwwliamleddy.com back within 48 hrs

5 STAR

The most important part of any book is the content. The author writing style. The individuality of that style not the similarity to that of another`s writing style! Of course the cover is important. Of course the blurb and presentation is also of great importance. But if the content is not going to hold the readers attention the book will end up largely unacclaimed.
I self publish my work and could perhaps benefit from expert assistance in some aspects of the publishing experience. I do however have numerous 5 star reviews on Amazon and Authorsden for the content. Please check these 5 star reviews out particularly for Body Language -my debut novel- and Scottish Tales and Aiding & Abetting 2 of my short story collections.
Amazon Print or Kindle Lulu Smashwords. Really important information follows for all readers. My books are also on Draft2Digital. That means that any reader can access all my work on their supplier of choice. Suppliers like Barnes & Noble Apple Kobo and all the others. Check any and/or all of them and you will find my books!

OTHER BLOGS

I must admit that I find Goodreads blogging in general to be a bit of a hard slog.
If the purpose is to make more friends then of course I am as approachable as the next person. But that`s Facebook`s raison `etre isn`t it? I am not interested in knitting tea cosies or swapping pictures of cats so I tend to not Facebook all that much. Instagram and other similar places tend to be for celebrities ,wannabe celebrities and people seeking relationships - hopefully even with celebrities perhaps. Not sure about that Now I blog a lot on Authorsden where I tend to keep things pretty lighthearted as I`m a lighthearted sort of a guy not in need of celebrities, cats or tea cosies at present
No as I`m blogging on Goodreads which is all about good reading material I feel I should be dreadfully serious all the time and that`s just not me. I am dreadfully serious when writing about my own books. I write Glasgow crime fiction novels and short story collections and that I do take extremely seriously.
I am not sure how much of that I am allowed to do on Goodreads. Look for more exposure for my own work I mean So if I am breaching some sort of rule by this blog it is not intentional.
So if you want to know more about Glasgow crime fiction Liam Leddy style check me out on www.liamleddy.com Amazon or just about anywhere else. Apologies in advance. Or just check me out on Authorsden for a light hearted look at things

2020

Apart from being the beginning of a new year and a new decade 2020 is definitely the year I will finish my fourth novel in the Lassiter series. Not intend, not hope to nor plan to but quite definitely will. Given of course that I have not yet kicked the bucket. Ain`t too young anymore you know. Given that that gratefully is the case I use the word "will" because I know within myself I have recently not been writing enough. Of course writers have to network, seek more exposure and attend the necessary library, writers`union and guild events -after all what I`m writing now is another example of that- however crime fiction writing is my business and I have been neglecting it very badly recently. The annoying thing is this. Crime fiction writing IS what I set out to do in the first place because I absolutely love doing so , therefore it is really upsetting when other things get in the way of that. The problem is that all these other things are essential for a writer also. I know that all other writers experience the same dilemma and therefore I am going over old ground with most of you but isn`t it the same old thing that keeps us all going? No not that I`ll waken up tomorrow to having sold countless millions of my books.
No it`s simply the fact that I will awaken tomorrow to find out some reader out there has taken the time to tell me just how much they enjoyed reading one of my books!
That is worth more to me than anything else!

STILL ACTIVE STILL WRITING

Hi again all
The older I get I realise the important of writing as much as I can now. Thursday last I turned 70. Isn`t it strange that when you`re blessed with decent health you simply refuse to "act you`re age" as I`m often told by others much younger than me" No. Definitely not. I can remember as a youth thinking 30 was ancient pal. Besides I have an 8 year old grandson who keeps me aged 20 or so permanently.
Now to get serious. If I wasn`t my real age I wouldn`t have the rich vein of material I possess while getting to my age. So there!

Body Language
Hello again. Memory plays funny games doesn`t it?. My 3 novels to date Body Language Bad Form and Body Art are 60`s era Glasgow crime fiction. This series of novels all deal with the youth of that era transporting them through the decades to where they are now. Some have become career gangsters , others policemen and one Lassiter an invesigative reporter with loyalties on both sides of the law. Back to memory. I have a photographic recollection of the late sixties. Yes I`m that old. Hard to believe isn`t it when my photo makes me look even older! This memory thing however contrives somehow to make me forget to post about these novels on Goodreads . Maybe I really am older than I remember. My apologies in any caseBody ArtBad Form
Working hard on my fourth novel in the Lassiter series. Let`s just call it Lassiter 4 for now. That`s because I have a title in mind but I`m not really sure the title is right for this novel. I have deliberately chosen a darker subject than usual because it deals with an extremely nasty subject which it seems to me gets a great deal of all to frequent media exposure. Unfortunately this is the purpose of media coverage of any subject. I do not argue about that. What I am concerned about is that sentences handed out for these crimes are totally out of proportion with the horrific damage done by the individuals guilty of these heinous acts. More to come about that issue in the novel itself

HELP

Everyone seems to know how best to use Goodreads to inform the reading public about their books. I must confess I don`t. I am a self published novelist -3 crime fiction novels and 8 short story collections. Every time I try to have meaningful contact with readers I seem to end up on another part of Goodreads doing nothing remotely like that and discussing anything other than what I like to read and more importantly what and why I write. I understand that some sites object to authors promoting their work. That mystifies me. Always has done Am I supposed to pretend I have written nothing and if so why am I even on Goodreads? www.liamleddy.com

WHY/WHY NOT

Being a crime fiction author is hugely enjoyable most of the time. Correction. All of the time. One of the best things is meeting existing or new readers. People ask what I write, why I write it and on occasion the extremely encouraging and helpful suggestion "Why don`t you write about?" I know that this suggestion is encouragement is because those suggesting that you do so obviously think you might be capable of writing to specific instructions . That is huge encouragement and belief in your writing for any writer!

Body Art

Following on from my last blog I am back to blog about something very dear to me. Won`t be dear to you though. It is very definitely value for money!
My third Glasgow based crime fiction novel is now out! It is available to purchase from all my usual sources and a few more Draft2Digital have added recently
Body Art is the title. Lassiter Hagan Horner Dawson Hegarty Bradford all return Along with the girls of course and a completely new female character- comparatively new to the police force too - WPC Liz Galbraith ! All the usual murders violence twists turns and trademark totally unforeseen ending. Geographical changes also. Much of Body Art is set in the beautiful seaside resort of Whitby South Yorkshire. And would you believe there are lots of of local villains down there too. One of whom, as always the case in my novels , is a really really evil person in control of them all. Oh and I have added a supernatural element in Body art too! Value for money as always
