HELP

Everyone seems to know how best to use Goodreads to inform the reading public about their books. I must confess I don`t. I am a self published novelist -3 crime fiction novels and 8 short story collections. Every time I try to have meaningful contact with readers I seem to end up on another part of Goodreads doing nothing remotely like that and discussing anything other than what I like to read and more importantly what and why I write. I understand that some sites object to authors promoting their work. That mystifies me. Always has done Am I supposed to pretend I have written nothing and if so why am I even on Goodreads? www.liamleddy.com

Deborah Taylor-French One thing I know about GoodReads is that you can start a book club. You can even discuss your books with readers and they can ask questions. I don't know the place to find these options but I suggest you visit the GR author page of Laurie R. King. I found her book club or reader fans engaged in question and answer formats. Of course, I read her historical mystery fiction. Got started because my husband was reading "The Beekeepers Apprentice" that introduced her Mary Russell character.

Ask for help from GoodReads or watch a YouTube video on how to add other functions on this platform..

Liam Leddy For fiction I love to read -not in any order of preference whatsoever -Stephen King James Lee Burke Linwood Barclay Robert B Parker Donald Westlake Elmore Leonard Louis L`Amour Philip K Dick Terry Pratchett. And that is a very small sample indeed. You will notice that I have not mentioned one female author so far. I will advise of them separately later on. There are so many really good female authors I propose to mention them in a separate collection of authors` names. You will also notice that so far all the authors mentioned are American. It`s what I find I prefer to read but of course we have many brilliant British and European authors. Is it odd that a Glasgow Scotland U.K is so heavily influencd by American writers and how does that affect my own writers voice? Be interested to hear on that point
