Crazy everywhere but Darjeeling tea makes it all right - or does it?
Dear aliens,
If you are looking down on earth right now and shaking your heads in disgust, mirth and exasperation at the imbecilehomo sapiensthat inhabit this beautiful blue planet, you have every right to do so. Humans (unfortunately I am classified as one, but I'd still like to pretend I'm not) have a lot of faults and more than often regress in intelligence, understanding and progress rather than evolve or, okay, I'm not even asking for much here, remain constant. We have not yet found o...

What writing horror means
Okay, since I published my last post, I have gained another 2000 words on my story entry for NaNoWriMo which leaves me with another 47000 words, which if I were to distribute them roughly, would limit me to 20 chapters. That is not a bad achievement considering that I have finally broken the chains of zero-inspiration and with a plot all 'neatly' (pffft) laid out, I am raring to go! All I can think of is finishing this little horror child of mine.
And therein lies the problem. My entry for...

The Big Bang Theory wins prize for most romantic song.
Hello aliens and humans! :)
It's a new week and while last week ended on a sombre note for me, equally combined with great moments of fun and dancing, before I begin with this post I'd like to ask you to spare a thought for the devastated people of thePhilippines. Super Typhoon Haiyan, the most powerful typhoon (cyclone, hurricane whatever you prefer to call it) in recorded history to touch land, struck the Philippines leaving more than 10,000 people dead. While reports vary on the actual...

Fireworks, sweets and friendship - how Diwali works for me
I've been away from home for a long time. True, I go back and visit once a year but I've always missed out on Diwali celebrations. I miss being at home around this time and having the sweets roll in from friends and neighbours. You see, that is the tradition during Diwali, especially in Fiji. Indian families will start days in advance, preparing all that yummy meetai or sweets, savouries which include curry chana (chickpeas), puri, murku, saina and just before the day or even on the day, t...

Flying Fish and Dolphins - a journey through the Solomon Islands
Yesterday was a public holiday. Independent Czechoslovak State Day to be exact - the day when Czechoslovak came into being on October 28th, 1918. Except it is no longer Czechoslovakia but two separate countries, Slovakia and the Czech Republic. So why am I showing pictures of what obviously has nothing to do with this holiday? Easy. While I was sleeping away my holiday, a very much loved member of my family was cavorting through the Solomon Islands and sending me pictures of dancing dolphi...

Autumn in Prague
I have to admit, I've been blessed with fantastic weekends in the last few weeks. Usually, as far as they go, weekends are for catching up on my housework, doing my grocery shopping, savouring my market boughtcappuccino and pastries, strolling around the city and basically just relaxing. Don't get me wrong - I'm not complaining at all. I'm a loner and doing activities on my own suit me just perfectly. I even have lonely, unfriendly hobbies like er hm, reading, knitting, watching TV shows an...

Summer end chilling and my autumn craving for curry crab.
Sometimes I wonder what an author's life is like, beyond the days and nights of constant writing and jotting down of ideas, of quotes they've just heard or restructuring a plot in their heads. I guess what I envisioned is not far off the mark but I thought I'd give readers a small insight into mine. While writing this, I will honestly tell you that all I'm thinking about at this moment is, how I'm dying to have a pot of curry crab! Sorry if that makes me seem I care less about you - but, i...
