Hay Festival 2017!

This week I had the amazing privilege of appearing at Hay Festival. This is a place, and a festival, that means a lot to me. When I was little, my father used to take me to Hay village every year to buy second-hand books. It was one of my favourite things to do with him, and the very best bit of it was when we visited the specialist murder mystery shop, Murder and Mayhem.… Read more

Cream Buns and Crime in Newcastle!

I had a very exciting time last week – I did a lightning-fast tour of Newcastle, visiting four schools and one bookshop in two whirlwind days!

Luckily, the weather was absolutely gorgeous …

Below are some of my favourite pictures from my trip. Everyone I met, booksellers, teachers, librarians and fans, were brilliant, kind, fun and helpful.… Read more

Jolly Foul Play – US cover reveal!

I’ve got some exciting news for American and Canadian detective fans – my fourth book, Jolly Foul Play, finally has its US cover!

It’s another stunning job by Elizabeth Baddeley, whose work I love – she’s captured the bonfire and the fireworks and the girls so well! Jolly Foul Play is my second school mystery, set a year after Murder Most Unladylike – Daisy and Hazel are in a new year at school, and facing some new and very nasty foes …

Jolly Foul Play (US edition) will be out in spring next year from my US publishers Simon and Schuster, so there’s a little while to wait – but you’ll be able to pre-order it soon!… Read more

The Guggenheim Mystery – The Bookseller Review

I’m delighted to say that The Guggenheim Mystery has its first review!

It’s from Fiona Noble at The Bookseller, who says that ‘it’s a wonderful read, full of Stevens’ characteristic tight plotting, humour and inclusivity … it’s a real treat to be back in [Ted’s] world.’

I am so pleased that Fiona enjoyed it so much – and I can’t wait until you get to read it too.… Read more

One Very Exciting Brussels Weekend!

My books have taken me to some wonderful places, and allowed me to have some pretty special experiences. But I have to say that last weekend was one of the most amazing yet.

I was invited to Brussels to give a keynote at the SCBWI Europolitan Conference. SCBWI is a great network for children’s authors, and I’ve been involved with it since before I was published myself.… Read more

Murder Most Unladylike is a Top Holiday Read!

It might not look like it at the moment (why is it so cold?!), but summer is just around the corner. I’ve begun planning my holidays already – and I’m not alone. Airtours have put together their top holiday reads in preparation for the summer rush, and I’m really proud that Murder Most Unladylike is part of the list!… Read more

Cheltenham Ladies College and Murder Most Unladylike

Visiting schools is one of my favourite things to do as an author – if I could, I’d do it all the time (except I know I might not get any writing done …). I love every single school I visit – but this weekend I did a school talk that was particularly special to me.… Read more
