Back to Anglo-Saxon times
Well, I finally did it. My long-time interest in the Anglo-Saxon era finally achieved material form in the publication of "The Turning of the Tide". Of course, there are a lot of Anglo-Saxon novels around, and some by very famous authors, but a fresh angle may always be of interest. So, my angle is the story of Aethelflaed, daughter of Alfred the Great, who became ruler of Mercia in the early tenth century and became very skilled at Viking bashing. It is a long book - 262 thousand words, but the lady deserved a thorough treatment.
So, I await the judgement of the readers of the genre...

A famous test pilot...
I am guessing that, with a blog, you do not have to restrict yourself to events that happen on the day of the entry. A few weeks ago, I was fortunate enough to be invited to the home of Captain Eric "Winkle" Brown, RN (Retired) to participate in an interview with him. It was absolutely fascinating. Captain Brown is the most experienced test pilot in the world, with hundreds of types of aircraft in his log book. And at the age of 93 he still has a razor-sharp mind. So, the session, and the lunch that followed, counted as one of the most significant events of my life.
I have been fortunate enough to meet a number of famous aviation figures, but this meeting has to have been the greatest of these.

Joining up to Goodreads
Well, it can happen that you fail to spot a good thing until something happens to bring it to your attention. For a long time, I concentrated on getting my books completed and published, and failed to look around for places where I could join up with fellow readers and authors. So, I am now with Goodreads and hoping to engage a little more widely with the literary community. I will try to add reports of (hopefully!) interesting events as they occur...
