Out Today!

Square Graphic - The Beach House 3.jpg

I’m absolutely delighted to share the news that my 17th novel, The Beach House is out today in eBook, paperback, and audiobook! I hope you love it!

Buy now

An absolutely gorgeous and heartwarming read about finding love where you least expect it, new beginnings, and how family is always with you, no matter where you are. Fans of Susan Mallery, Pamela Kelley, and Mary Alice Monroe will adore this romantic page-turner.

When her gram passes away, Melanie Simpson feels utterly lost. But her grandmother’s will gives her a purpose: an inheritance to buy a crumbling house in Rosemary Bay. They used to visit the village every summer, sit by the sparkling water on a beach the color of pearl, and daydream about turning the place on the corner into a bed and breakfast.

On her first night in her new hometown, Melanie meets local contractor and landowner Josh Claiborne, whose eyes match the dazzling sea. Melanie plans to restore the beach house to its original glory, and Josh is the perfect person to help renovate the wrap-around porch weathered by the coastal breeze and the peeling white paint faded by the sun.

But hiding in a closet is a yellowing stack of letters that could change everything. The looping handwriting reveals the mystery of the rickety house—a buried history that touches everyone in Rosemary Bay. Will its secrets bring Melanie and Josh together or tear them apart?

New Story "Coming Home"

PodPlays Graphic.jpeg

I’ve written a new story! But it isn’t a book… Here’s the scoop:

Before Covid hit, I had the pleasure of meeting the uber-talented songwriter Will Robinson, who has written number one hits for stars like Alabama, Reba McEntire, and John Michael Montgomery, to name a few. Being a music lover, when he mentioned he had a project he’d like to chat about, I was incredibly curious. With the pandemic, getting together was difficult, but the minute we could safely meet for coffee, I got a glimpse into this new endeavor, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to have a small part in it.

After a long chat, I got to take a peek into the offices of Old Bank Media Group, the hub of the brand-new concept PodPlays, a free storytelling app that combines great stories and epic songs. The stories fit within an hour and each one includes multiple character voices, sound effects, and original music. I got to hear samples that were absolutely wonderful, and was asked if I would write a script-style PodPlay to be produced by them. Thrilled with the invitation, I got to work, and the result was “Coming Home,” a story about the uncertainty of where life can take us, and the comfort that can be found in those who know us best.

“Coming Home” will be released on the PodPlays app on Apple Podcasts in the coming months. So far, I’ve been able to listen to the ending song, one of four songs that will be included in my PodPlay. The songs for “Coming Home” were written and produced by Will Robinson and another talented songwriter Cory Batten (who’s written number one songs for folks like Blake Shelton and Chris Young), along with other hit songwriters.

I’m absolutely giddy to share this news, and I’ll keep you posted on all the happenings! In the meantime, run over to Apple Podcasts and search for PodPlays or click the button below to hear the stories that are up now. You won’t be disappointed!

“Oh, my goodness,” she whispered. At the bottom of the box was a stack of letters. Tied with a ribbon, the pages were faded with age. “These are all addressed from here,” she said, “but they’ve never been sent.”

When her gram passes away, Melanie Simpson feels utterly lost. She has no idea what to do with her life after she has devoted years to looking after her beloved grandmother.

But Gram’s will may hold the answer, instructing Melanie to use her inheritance to buy a crumbling house in their favorite beachside town. They used to visit the village every summer, sit by the sparkling gulf on a beach the color of a fresh pearl, and daydream about turning the place on the corner into a bed and breakfast.

Fulfilling her grandmother’s legacy, Melanie decides to restore the beach house to its original glory. She sets out on renovations of the wrap-around porch weathered by the coastal breeze, and the peeling white paint faded by the sun.

When Melanie runs into local contractor, Josh Claiborne, whose eyes match the dazzling sea, she jumps at the chance to ask him for help. But that’s the last thing he wants. He’s off to New York soon, leaving his troubled past behind. Over a game of darts Melanie gets her wish, even if Josh isn’t happy about it.

As they work together, Melanie tries to ignore their undeniable chemistry and how Josh’s rare smiles take her breath away––because soon they’ll be thousands of miles apart. But hiding in a closet is a yellowing stack of letters that could change everything. The looping handwriting reveals the mystery of the rickety house––a buried history that touches everyone in town. Will its secrets bring Melanie and Josh together or tear them apart?

An absolutely gorgeous and heartwarming read about never-ending love, new beginnings, and how family is always with you, no matter where you are. Fans of Pamela Kelley, Mary Alice Monroe, and Debbie Macomber will adore this romantic page-turner.
