Oddly writing a vampire novel after finishing a book about dementia and Alzheimer's isn't as off topic as I wish it were. They both take everything.

That term makes me think we're talking about people who are thinking about writing, but haven't started yet--because if you're spending your time writing down your stories, you're a writer, published or not.

My advice would be to write--a lot--expect to sacrifice something in order to have writing time. You'll never "find" time to write. You have to take it, you have to steal it. I gave up television and a social life in order to spend the bulk of my time writing.

If you want to be published, you're embarking on a career, the writing world is a business like any endeavor. I'd recommend not worrying about that part if that reality overwhelms you. Just write. It takes time to find your voice and learn how to write your stories so that the reader gets the story. What I mean is what you have in your head must be translated onto the page in such a way that your reader is getting what you see. That takes time and trial and error. The way you get to that place is to write, write, write.

After you have a book written, or several, that you know are good--just jump right on into the writing world. You'll probably find many writers are more than willing to give you advice and information. We want to read more good stories! Give yourself time, and try to be patient, the process will take too long, but you CAN succeed as long as you NEVER give up, and NEVER stop writing.

Welcome. We've been waiting for you.

It must leave a Jurassic-size carbon footprint connecting flights from airport to airport to get to where you're going. That’s the reality of traveling from the little commuter airport where I live! Yet I do it because as the late great Freddie Mercury once said, Keep Yourself Alive. After doing time at my little airport, and then the Atlanta Airport, followed by the Salt Lake City Air

This is for the English translation of The Murderess. It’s a haunting sad story like so much of Papadiamantis’ work that I’ve read. I’ve not been able to access the movie in my current location and I’d like to! This paints a tale of a wretched villag ...more

It’s complicated to rate a book of short stories, as they’re all different. Some of these I loved, some may have been slightly lost in translation, but most of Papadiamantis’ work stay with me long after I read them. They’re haunting and fascinating ...more

It took me awhile to read this book, not that it wasn’t engaging, it’s just that I’d left it in an out of the way place and whenever I happened upon it I’d read several pages.

I’d bought the paperback of it at a bookstore coffee shop because the titl

“10 Steps to Becoming a Better Writer

Write.
Write more.
Write even more.
Write even more than that.
Write when you don’t want to.
Write when you do.
Write when you have something to say.
Write when you don’t.
Write every day.
Keep writing.”

“If only, if only," the woodpecker sighs,
"The bark on the tree was as soft as the skies."
While the wolf waits below, hungry and lonely,
