Hiatus – Medical Issues

Hey guys, I’m stopping by to say that though I have a few posts planned, I’m going to have to put them on hold. I’m having issues with a tooth that’s causing me a severe amount of pain, even now (I haven’t really slept at all), so I’m going to dedicate the next day or two to getting the problem taken care of, recovering, and working the rest of my week for my day job.

I’m really sorry about this! Thanks so much for understanding, guys! You’re the greatest, and I’ll see ya during the weekend! [image error]

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to take the time to explain why I have not been able to post anything in awhile. I’m going to have my first child and I really have not been feeling well. So I hope things will get better soon and I will be able to continue posting. Happy reading everyone!

Isaac Sketch

isaacsketch
I’m not sure if I ever posted about this here, but I know I mentioned it on facebook. Anyway, the same artist I’m commissioning to draw Chandra had drawn a sketch of Isaac several weeks back (to the left) and UGH. I am floored. Just completely floored by this image.

She calls it a WIP, but I was too happy not to ask if I could share the image, so behold, a very accurate Isaac sketch that makes yours truly giddy with excitement! It’s all too fitting that I’m posting this on Friday the 13th too because that’s probably Isaac’s favorite day of the year.

Speaking of which, it’s May 13th, and The Final Calling is coming out June 3rd. GO PREORDER BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE! LoL

Mages, Demons, & Divinians – The Crucible Paranormal Romance Series

So, this will be my last post (for the time being) concerning the major races of supernatural beings currently established in The Crucible Series. Instead of two, there are three in this post, and for that reason, I’m going to put the last one under a cut (these animations are kind of on the large-ish side, after all, and I don’t want to overwhelm anyone’s connection lol :)!).

mage2

We’ll be learning all about mages and how they (majorly) function in my upcoming release, The Final Calling. But the preface is certainly available in the preview/samples of the story now available, and this information can be read up front. That said, I drew a lot of inspiration for the mages in my series from the many, many, various, numerous, myriad video games I’ve played featuring magic casters and similar types of playable characters. We’ve also encountered several mages throughout the course of the books in the series, including Chandra (sorceress), Eradin (wizard), and heard tales of a legendary magician named Heliger. As time goes on, I’ll reveal more about the abilities of each class, and for now, I’ll simply say that mages are probably one of the most complex groups I’ve had to create!

“But wait, I thought you said demons?” Well, that’s a technical term for Perosians considering (as the story goes) their god lost divine favor, and as such, so did his people. Ergo, they “fell”, and now we have a powerful group of immortals with a reputation for being formidable. In any case, this is another group that will be explored in The Final Calling, and additionally, this animation is one I feel is pretty one sided considering the various types of Perosians there actually are. But that’s a story for another day, and for now, all I have to say that I’ve had so much fun developing the backstory for this race and I can’t wait for more to come to light surrounding them.

Now, under the cut is the information on Divinians! Because what fantasy world would be complete without a kick ass race of holy warriors who’s organization is the namesake of the entire series?

Vampires & Werewolves – The Crucible Paranormal Romance Series

Before I get started, let’s just say that two of these animations gave me so much trouble I wanted to put an axe through my computer screen, and the one for the werewolves was one of them. UGH! It didn’t come out exactly how I wanted it to, but it works as it is, so I give up. ._.

I’ll be honest, when I first started writing my series, I’d actually decided to forgo writing any stories about vampires whatsoever. At the time, mainstream media and television shows were filled with nothing but vampires (i.e., True Blood, Twilight, The Vampire Diaries), and I’d gotten really tired of seeing them. My favorite paranormal creatures are dragons, werewolves, and witches, and I wanted to focus my stories on things of that nature. But as time went on, that sour taste in my mouth started to fade away, though I knew that if I were going to write a story about vampires, I had to do something different. So I started looking at commonalities between most vampires, taking away things I liked, and what I didn’t like, and began hammering out something I hoped might be “new” while still staying true to the major idea of what a vampire is overall.

Because of this, I feel like the vampires found in The Crucible Series may be one of the most complex races I’ve developed. From mentality to ability, there’s a lot to describe, but considering I’m happy with the way Fallen Hearts turned out, I think I did a decent job of getting it all organized.

What can I say, I love werewolves, though I should probably refer to them as Ferines in this instance as it’s the name they prefer. In a sense, I think I stuck to the more traditional definition of what a werewolf is in my series, though they don’t actually turn into legitimate beasts or monsters. Sure, their faces become more animalistic, their size increases, and they gain claws and fangs, but if you were to see one in it’s “beastly” form at a distance, you’d probably think, “That’s just a really big human”.

Let’s just hope this Ferine hasn’t turned savage because that might be your last thought if so! D:

In any case, I wanted to post werewolves and vampires together because the truth of the matter is that these beings have a history, and it’s a history I haven’t actually revealed yet outside of saying, “Oh, yeah, by the by, they’re natural born enemies.” Will we get to find out what this history is? Let’s just say the more books I write, the closer everything will come to being revealed!
