Memories

Hello Everyone!

How many times do memories come flooding back to you? I can be something and suddenly a memory of someone will come to mind. Grandpa Shorty is on my mind t oday. He's been gone nearly 27 years. Time sure moves on.

Anyway, he was a big man, 6'4", weighing 300 lbs. of solid muscle. He hands were huge and strong but gentle. He used to rub my shoulders when I would get  headache. He dug down deep into the shoulder blades. It felt so good, I cried. Grandma Helen usually yelled at him for making me cry.

Grandpa Shorty lived and worked on a farm. He had cattle, pigs and chickens. I loved staying at his house during the summer. When he raked hay, I rode on the tractor with him. We sang songs and laughed and talked. It was great! I loved spending time with him. He taught my sisters and me how to waltz and polka. Grandpa loved music. When we were all at his house on a Sunday afternoon, he put records on and he would dance with Grandma Helen. She was only about 5' 7", a bit shorter than Grandpa. He wrapped his sturdy strong arms around her and off they went, round and round the living room floor. Us girls heard her say in a loud whisper, Shorty, I can't breathe. You're holding me too tight!

Grandpa and Grandma had such a love for each other. If they argued about anything, they didn't do it in front of us kids. When Grandma told Grandpa do to something, he did it.

I miss you, Grandpa Shorty, very much!

Hope you have a wonderful day!

Chickens

Hello Everyone!

I thought it was about time for an update on the chickens. My wonderful husband made the run bigger for the chickens. At first they weren't sure what to do. The area is huge for them to run around and eat the bugs and grass.

Our chickens are getting huge! There is a black one that has a funny hairdo. I think we have one rooster. I love when a rooster crows.

Have a super day!

Just Write

Hello Everyone!

Today is the beginning of yet another course of school. This month I will be learning how to write televsion scripts. I'm not really interested in writing scripts but I guess if I want to graduate, I will do the assignments. Last month I learned how to format a screenplay. YUK! Too many rules to follow. My main interest is to just write stories, mainly for children.

To be honest, I just want to write. I don't want to have to worry about anything else. In reality, I know this isn't possible. I will write when I can.

Have a super day!

Outdoors

Good morning! I am outdoors again! I LOVE being outside! Soaking up the sun and enjoying the wind. Feels like the wind is blowing in some rain. I don't know about you all but we could sure use rain here in mid-Missouri.

I heard a fire truck scream up the highway a bit ago. Sure hope no one is hurt. In all my 51 years, I have never experienced a fire before. Sure  hope I never do.

The branches of the tree that I'm sitting beside are creaking in the wind. The tree is not dead but the noises the branches are making are kinda freaking me out. That's all I need is for a branch to hit me on the head. Haha!

Thank you for stopping by!

Have a wonderful day!

Mark and Matt Adventures

Good afternoon! I have started quite a few times on the next adventure of Mark and Matt. Each time, I get started, I stop midway and read what I wrote. I don't ever like it so I scrunch the paper up and start over. My problem is not being able to grab the audience's attention in that first sentence. I have been told over and over by my wonderful husband and by my teachers to just WRITE! It's only the first draft! My mother has told throughout my life that I have a way with words.

I promise I will have another adventure for you guys to read soon! I have two more months of school. After that, I can concentrate on writing more. I will be able to put my sister's story together.

Have a wonderful day!

Elle and Jethro

Who are Elle and Jethro? They are our pets. Elle is an energetic Yorkie and Jethro is a yellow cat. Those two together are fun to watch. When they play, Elle usually gets scratched by Jethro. Anyway, Elle barks at anything, even her own shadow. If there are birds in the yard, she'll bark. She barks even if a blade of grass moves! Jethro is a great mouser. He spends alot of time outdoors. I'm not sure how many mice he has caught so far.

Have a super day!

Cross-stitching

Good morning!!! Who loves to cross-stitch? Me! I have been doing it for years! I started out with simple, easy projects. Through the years, I have challenged myself to do harder projects. Right now, I am working on a cross-stitch picture for my mom. I started on it about ten years ago. I had tucked it away somewhere and had forgotten about it. After Alex and I moved here, I found it again. So, I decided to finish it. I've been working on it the last couple of months. I have come to the part of outlining the picture. I'll post a picture of it on here once I have completed it.

Have a wonderful day!

Outdoors

What a beautiful day! The sun is shining. There are a few clouds in the sky. Birds are singing and of course, the bugs are pestering me! Oh well, they're just bugs. Haha! Alex is cutting the yard. I love the gentle breeze.

I'm sitting in the yard listening to all the different noises around me. There's highway noise, birds singing, the noise of the lawn mower and in the distance, I can hear a rooster. Joys of living in the country. The trees in the yard remind me of the trees in my grandparents' yard. I think those were oak trees, though. These trees in our yard are silver maple. I am enjoying the shade they are providing for me.

As I look at these beautiful huge trees, a memory comes to mind. It's about my grandpa. After lunch or after supper, Grandpa Shorty would lay on the hard ground and take a nap. He used to tell me that was his way of relaxing. What amazed me the most was that the bugs never seemed to bother Grandpa. There are alot of memories I have of Grandpa. Perhaps one day, I will tell you more about him.

Have a wonderful day!
