Funny Chickens
Good morning, Chicken Lovers!
RUN! RUN! Chickens are surrounding me! Haha! Alex opened up the coop and the chickens are loving the free range. Chickens are funny to watch. They run after each other or run up to another just to see what they found. They act just like children.
I'm thrilled we have them! Looking forward to the eggs and for the rooster to crow.
Have a super wonderful day!

School
Hello Everyone!
Who has trouble when it comes to writing? I do! I struggled with an assignment for days. When it was FINALLY done, I asked myself what was my problem? In the back of my mind, there is always a thought that my writing is not good enough. My biggest fear is fear itself. Does that even make sense? Im scared of failing! I don't want my kids looking at me with disappointment.
I only have a month left of school. After school is over, I hope to improve on my writing.
Have a super wonderful day!

Chickens
Hello Everyone,
Alex opened the coop door to let the chickens range free for a bit this morning. I joined him and it was funny to watch them scratch and play in the grass. Thirteen chickens that act like teenagers. When one found something in the grass, others had to check it out, too. For the most part, they stay together. Once in awhile, one has to investigate farther. One chicken saw that it was alone and started running toward the others.
I suggested to Alex that we should make a calendar of our chickens, one per month and give them cute names. We may have to work on that idea. When it time to put the chickens away, they followed each other back into the coop.
I love our chickens.
I hope you have a super wonderful day!

Sunshine :)
Hello Everyone,
I am sitting outside enjoying the sunshine. I love soaking up the sun. Sure makes me feel better. Sure is windy, though. It's a great day to hang out laundry. I love the smell of clothes that have been hung outside.
I'm also waiting for my huggy hubby to come home. He had errands to do in town. I removed some boards from the wall while he's been gone. We are renovating our home. It's nothing but fun times! I love the dirt and dust in the house. I know renovations take time. Seeing the work getting done makes me truly happy. I know in the end our home will be beautiful. I can't wait to show off the place.
Well, I know I should be writing for school. There are days that I just am not in the mood to do anything. Yesterday I wrote down ideas for a child's book. Time will tell how long before I start putting the ideas together. :)
Have a wonderful day!

Grandma Helen
Good morning!
I have someone I want to tell you about. Her name was Helen Marie Engelage Osthoff. She was my grandma, my dad's mom. She was a farm wife. Up at dawn and worked hard all day long. She cooked, baked, cleaned, took care of a huge graden, did laundry and helped in the hay field when necessary. She could sew a shirt for Grandpa Shorty in one day. She took care of the chickens, too.
I loved spending my summers at her house. Hearing the rooster crow in the mornings. Falling asleep to noise of a whipperwill. During the night hearing coyotes run behind the house sending chills up and down my spine.
Grandma Helen taught me how to sew. Actually, she taught my sisters, too. Those were fun times. The first time I sewed on a button, I did it wrong. Instead of going through the button holes, I sewed on the outer side of the button. Grandma saw what I had done and she laughed.
She has been gone a number of years now but I miss our times together.
Have a super day!

A Memory
Hello Everyone!
I have been thinking about my great-grandmother alot lately. Her name was Hilda Marie Engelage. Her husband was Herman Engelage. I don't remember him because he died many years before I came along. When we (Grandma Helen, Grandpa Shorty, Elvin, Dad and Mom and my siblings went to visit Grandma Hilda, she used to tell us stories about her life when she was a young girl. I was at the age where it didn't interest me to listen. Now that I am much older, I regret not listening to her. She grew up with horse and buggy and women always wore long dresses. When Grandma Hilda died, she was 101 years old. At the time, I did not understand why Grandma Helen was crying. I thought Grandma Hilda was just another person who had passed away. I did not realize she had been someone's mother.
Grandma Hilda spoke with a soft, quiet tone. I had a hard time hearing her. She had beautiful white hair that she always wore in a bun. There is only one time that I saw her with her hair down. It flowed all the way down her back. She had been brushing her hair. Another memory I have of her is sitting by an open window. It did not matter what time of the year it was. It may have been only ten minutes but it was the first thing she did every morning. It was her time for fresh air and talking with God.
Have a wonderful day!

Stories
Hello!
There are so many story ideas going round and round in my head. The ideas are flowing faster than my brain can think. :) There are children's books that I want to write. I want to write about my sister. I want to write about growing up on a farm and coming from a large family. I would love to write about my grandparents and parents and of my extended family. I just do not know where to begin. Help!!! Words are attacking my brain. Haha!
I have been trying to write another adventure of Mark and Matt but with no success. I have started on an adventure but that's as far as its gotten.
Have a super day!

Chickens
Hello!
Our chickens are getting so big! Their feet or claws look wicked. Some of them are actually beginning to cluck. I love it! I'm still waiting for the rooster to crow. I love that sound.
Whenever Alex brings them food, they either peck his hands or his feet. Every night when he goes to close them in, he says they were already roosted for the night. Alex made a bigger run for them. There is alot of grass for them to eat and bugs, too. It's funny to listen to the way Alex talks to the chickens. He talks to them like they are teenagers. It's cute how the chickens come running when they hear Alex. They follow him around like kids.
Have a wonderful day!
